    Hey everyone! I had the honor of seeing Aladdin last week, and honestly I was super nervous, but it really is a BLAST! The trailers don't do it justice: the leads are SO charming, Will Smith is a great Genie, the music is KILLER and it's just a great update all in all. Just so you know, there are spoilers in this video, so know that going in - Enjoy :)

      @tinabastarache2674 5 лет назад +36

      i haven't seen it yet but that's what people really need to do is stop comparing in terms of greatness and we get it like don't want to see it don't or how about going to see it watch in it's entirety and then forming opinions but adults can't be bothered with that lately. i mean there is no necessity in making live action remakes of classics but a good share of them have been pretty good. it i think will be like seeing a musical play on big screen.

    .

    I really love that in the end they made genie a real human when he was freed. It gives the ending a bittersweet taste, like he’s not the genie we’ve known anymore since he couldn’t even perform a simple magic anymore. But it means he finally got the freedom he wanted for more than a thousand years and finally explore the world to his heart’s content, just like a normal human being. It’s one of my most favourite things about this movie. And Jasmine becoming a sultan is a pleasant surprise too.

    • @crazi4760
      @crazi4760 5 лет назад +11

      He's not a real human he's still a genie with powers he just doesn't have a master anymore so he doesn't have to use his magic as much but they hint about his peers at the beginning with his kids on their little boat (im paraphrasing but he's says something like) "our little boat will be just fine" hinting if it ever breaks or is damaged he uses magic to fix it, he's a genie with a more human life, possibly him granting himself his greatest wish

    • @namelessbard2124
      @namelessbard2124 5 лет назад +15

      Crazi47 well, that’s a different interpretation. When I watched it though, I interpreted it as genie becoming real human. And he even asked Aladdin to ask him do some magic trick, and was excited when he couldn’t do it (and it’s not about order, since even when he was a full genie, someone has to use the lamp to order him). And I think his speech on the boat is just a metaphor, like whoever difficulty they face, they will make it out just fine.
      Well, I strongly believe people can have different interpretations on a movie and still enjoy it! And I sure do!

    Another that I can think of..
    1. "Prince Ali song scene": in live action version, Aladdin was shown not riding the elephant but instead he's on a camel float - helping not to promote animal abuse.
    2. "One Jump Ahead song scene": live action version shows Aladdin running into a room of young women learning to read instead in animation version he was in a brothel (possibly) - promoting the need for female education.
    3. Hakim (head of security) was potrayed with more depth to his character in live action version, shown him having better judgement on loyalty to the sultan, compared to his animation version (whose named Razoul instead) that merely reflects an authoritation personality.

      It was culturally incorrect though. Jasmine's entire story arc is about aspiring to be Sultan. But in Arab culture if a woman even suggested such a thing she'd be either banished, imprisoned, dismembered, or killed.
      Disney tries to promote cultural appropriation, yet they ignore major cultural aspects. Disney likes to pick and choose what is culturally appropriate and what isn't.

    Yes, R. Williams was amazing and no one can help but missing him, I do agree... But Will Smith did it justice! He was really cool and perfect for the role.
    Aladdin was just lovely and so is Jasmine. Their personality was deeper than the cartoon and better analyzed, as you can expect in a real movie.
    The new song was truly powerful and I believe it's going to become a hit soon enough!
    Even though there were little differences and added scenes, this movie is really amazing.

Trying to be a carbon of Mr. Williams would have been the wrong way to go. I am cautiously optimistic, and - as others have said - I feel that Mr. Williams would want folks to give Mr. Smith's take on the role a chance to shine in its own right. Yes, it would have been great if Robin Williams could have reprised the role, but he might not have wanted to, even if he were still with us. WONDERFUL job at catching shots from the animated version- and turning then into live action! No WONDER Guy Ritchie is the film's director! I refuse to imagine it any other way! No need to compare Robin Williams to Will Smith because Will Smith's version of Genie SUITS this film. Keeping it modern and classic all at the same time! Although I am not familar with the actors who play Aladdin and Jasmine, they were perfect for their roles and did them justice! It's mainly this video that gets it wrong. Arabs ARE Caucasian. Maybe "dark Caucasian," but still Caucasian. All the word "Caucasian" means is someone who ultimately traces their racial ancestry to western Asia, which is true of both Europeans and Middle Easterners; it has nothing to do with skin color. But the film made its own flub in casting the half-Indian Naomi Scott as what is supposed to be an Arab woman. For all of the filmmakers' supposed sensitivity, they overlooked the fact that not all South Asians are alike, and that Arabs and Dravidians come from different racial stocks.

Although it was more pop (I didn’t mind), I rather they sticked to tht. Since Naomi is a pop singer. I’ve seen many pop singers who try to sing classically/theatrically and it’s painful. Disney didn’t take that risk and Naomi did what she was good at :). Plus the songs from the wasn’t too pop/modernize as everybody is tryna exaggerate 🙄

I got to see the show with some of the original cast back in February of 2018 and I was amazed by how much Disney was able to do with the story changes and the different stage elements. I was really hoping they would add Babkak, Omar, and Kassim into this live-action remake, but as far as I've seen in the 2019 Aladdin trailers, they didn't make the cut :/. I was also really hoping that they would include "Proud of Your Boy" and "High Adventure". After reading that the story largely stayed the same as the 1992 movie, I was disappointed. I'm still gonna give this movie a shot, but I really wish Disney-being a billion dollar comapny- did more to really make this movie feel more alive and exciting.
