That look really impressive! I read about Andrew in a 2014 issue of Retro Gamer Magazine, which is sold at a major bookstore chain here in the United States. There is also an iPad/iPhone app for it. He made some great games!
Aaaahhh ! It is a fantastic game I completed it, including the extra missions. It is great fun to play, but you need the documentation to know all the keys you can use.
It's a 'must play' on the Archie. So much on screen, with ennemies having intelligence. It clearly demonstrates what an Archie can do, even if the best 3D game is Starfighter3000. It's been coded by one single person, do you imagine that ? Andrew Hutchins. He's been interviewed by the CCH ( in Cambridge ) owner and the video is on its channel ( Center for Computing History ).
Interdictor was the first flight sim on the Acorn, this was written in assembler though and much fast, I got a feeling Interdictor was mostly written in C, as it's not as fast.
This game I got to play a few times when I was very young on the school Acorn Archimedes. I always thought that the disc drive icon on the bottom taskbar was a thermometer gauge. 😂
Just want to say I've really enjoyed watching your tour through these old Archimedes games. It's given me some ideas for games to check out, and some ideas for games to leave in the dustbin of history! These days I run my Archimedes emulator on my Raspberry Pi, which somehow feels appropriate, since I still don't have the original hardware.
That looks intriguing. I'm guessing that missions can be played one player but also 2 player co-op, which would be very cool indeed, one of you protecting the other!
Acorn's (except the A3010) don't come with a joystick port, two player mode will have keys assigned to each side of the keyboard for inevitable reasons. The AI in this game is a bit dull, wouldn't say it's hard to complete myself.
Really enjoyable game to play, despite the graphics perhaps not being the most detailed of the era. Nice and smooth on a standard machine too. A mate and I would come home at lunchtime and try to finish a mission together in co-op mode. Although, one of us would always get killed, spoiling it a bit.

@@dcikaruga I don't agree. The green warplane in particular is wicked, and knows very well how to chase you and shoot you down.
@@Archimedes75009 Been so long, I barely remember actually.
