Tonight's the Night has always been one of my favorite Neil Young albums. Thanks for this fantastic video, giving us the "Fly on the wall" view of the history behind, the recording of, and the eventual release of an incredible album.
I love this back story. I want more of this music. I love Tonight's the Night always have since it is as released. On the Beach is even better. Right up to Zuma when I saw him live in the he Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Which by the way was the loudest concert I ever heard in my life. ❤ It's rough stuff. But, I felt a lot of sympathy for it all . The words, the vibe the whole fd up Ethos .. I was young and impressionable. Today approaching 70 Iam rapt in it still. ❤ .
Love this album. It took me too long to listen to it in its entirety for a few reasons. One, I wasn't introduced to any of the songs until I got Decade, which IMNSHO is the best compilation album of all time. After I found out what album Tired Eyes and Albuquerque came from, I finally got a hold of Tonights the Night. Secondly, I had seen the Tonights the Night Album, but it looked so weird and freaky that unfortunately thought the album must suck and didn't buy it. Bad mistake. The whole "stink" of it was that Neil was on some kind of bizarre trip during that time and to stay away from it. Well, this was the seventies, and we didn't have all of the "digital" advantages that we do today to get to the bottom of things.
Borrowed Tune is one of his sweetest, basic, vocal and piano, great lyrics…song he has written. love the entire album tbh, Lookout Joe another Neil classic, raw and dirty with warts and all is how I would describe Tonigts the Night.Neil had his ups and downs, but man, what a musical legacy the man has! Saw him with Crazy Hirse and was up there of my favorite shows attended.Anyway, just a killer album, gonna go listen to it again with big smile on my face! Lol
I like Tonights the Night better because I've only listened to it a thousand times so I'm not sick of it yet. After the Gold Rush I've heard it 50 thousand times, played along with it even more. I like them sloppy, I understood it was cathartic, I hollered along with him.
Yeah… The word Fart has a physical manifestation that will always keep it relevant and undeniable. Farts can’t be cancelled or stopped. A true force of nature they are!
Bought it the day it came out, still listening. Just so freaking real. Inspired my life long hate of the perfect crap that most other bands were striving for.
I got the record and thought what the hell ?and put it away for a little while, then got it out one drunken night and fell in love with everything you've brought up about it mine must be the blotter paper cause my is in tatters
Awesome video, loving these heavy. If you cover On The Beach like this my life would be complete!
Of course, have to do that next!

I thought the obscure album would be Neil and the Shocking Pinks. Everybody's Rocking 😂✌️❣️🎶🎸
I will get to that one eventually 😉
Very nice research.

Love Neil Young. Especially his strange 80s stuff. Arc. Weld. Fart of gold.
Yeah, I caught that "Fart of Gold" headline review, LOL! I don't agree, but clever and funny none the less!

I can’t sing or hold a tune but play me some Neil Young, especially Mellow My Mind and I can sound exactly like him. Beautiful, wonderful stuff!😂
Same 😆
