Removing the port off camera helps a lot

This is a crazy amount of work just replace the port. Apple could have used a latch on connector for the flex cable on top of the main board without having to disassemble the entire thing, like most other manufacturers. smh It's probably less work to simply replace the port only on the flex cable than the entire cable, and you wouldn't even have to remove the main board for soldering. Not saying that this can't be done, but in most developed countries the labor cost is too high to be worth it.

this is not for the uninitiated. if you found it hard to follow then the take away should be that it is not a trivial job. skills are required. the video certainly made be appreciate how it was done and made me disappointed in apple for using a soldered connection instead of some sort of connector.

A really dumb design soldering the flex cable onto the BOTTOM of the main board (at least make it on the top), instead of using a simple latch connector like most other manufacturers. It's as if done on purpose to make it not worth fixing so the customer just buys a new one. That's Apple for ya. lol It's probably less work to simply replace the port only on the flex cable than the entire cable, and you wouldn't even have to remove the main board for soldering.
