    I sold my GTO Judge in 1981 for $900.00. I saw it 30 years later at a swap meet for $12,000.00 all worn out. fun car for a high School kid. broke 2 rear ends and one 4-speed.

    My 1969 GTO convertible was originally this shade of green from the factory. Paint code 59 "Limelight Green" with a white convertible top and black bucket seat interior. I always thought it was such a horrifically ugly color...and I say that as someone who LOVES the "odd" colors on old muscle cars. As a matter of fact, the entire reason I bought my 1969 Chevelle SS L34 4-speed was because it is a factory Burnished Brown (paint code 61) car with the white (parchment) bucket seat interior (and NO center console, which is pretty rare for a bucket seat 4-speed car).
    The paint on the car in this video is incredibly well-done and it actually makes that color look kind of...beautiful sitting out in the sun. That said, I've already decided to sell my GTO because I'm just not a fan of convertible muscle cars...and it's also an A/C car and I HATE having A/C on a muscle car. Especially on a freakin' CONVERTIBLE that doesn't need A/C because you can just put the top down. And as great as the car in this video looks, I still don't think I'd have repainted my GTO this color if I kept it.

    • @Hobodeluxe960
      @Hobodeluxe960 2 года назад +1

      @@jasonmacneil2256 lighten up dude it's not like the RA4 wasn't an option in 69. Also it's a possibility the old girl had new paint and the old ram air decals hadn't been reapplied. We didn't get a look at the motor and couldn't see if it had the ra4 air cleaner and scoop setup. Also the RA 4 was a Pontiac 400 cid engine, not sure what you meant by pointing that out.

      @bluesman7475 4 месяца назад +1

      @DucknCoverin , Good call. No Ram Air or Ram Air IV on the scoops and they never opened the hood so you could see the Ram Air induction system, so looks like a 350 HP clone with a cam and headers.

    • @johnnytyler5685
      @johnnytyler5685 2 года назад +3

      Well you would lose that bet BADLY. Green was BY FAR the most popular color on ANY muscle car of this era. Whether it was this ugly light green or a darker shade, the greens outsold colors that we would consider "popular" today like black or white or silver by five or six or even TEN to one.
      I think many people would be shocked to find out that on 1969 Chevelles, the least popular factory paint color was BLACK! Only 7,441 1969 Chevelles and El Caminos were painted black from the factory. Guess what the MOST popular color was? It was the very shade of light green that you see on the GTO in this video...paint code 59 "Frost Green" (it was called "Limelight Green" on the 1969 GTO but it was the exact same color and it was also paint code 59). And guess how many 1969 Chevelles and El Caminos had this paint code 59 Frost Green from the factory? A whopping 81,883 of them! It outsold the second most popular paint color BY 30,000 UNITS!!!
      That second most popular color was the beautiful LeMans Blue...but guess what the third most popular color was? That's right...Fathom Green, the darker shade of green for 1969...with 41,226 Chevelles and El Caminos painted that color from the factory.
      And take a guess as to what color my 1969 GTO convertible was from the factory? That's right...paint code 59 "Limelight Green"...the same color as the GTO in this video! It was originally Limelight Green with a white convertible top and black bucket seat interior. The car is now a more modern shade of Corvette blue with the white top and a white bucket seat interior but I bought the car that way. So you are WAAAY off base by guessing that "they didn't make many in green". Literally the exact opposite is true...the VAST MAJORITY of them were either light or dark green from the factory.

    • @johnnytyler5685

      @@rrf6747 And just as popular as the green exterior paint were GREEN interiors and GREEN vinyl tops! My dad's first car that he bought brand new in 1971 was a 1971 Monte Carlo. It was Mulsanne blue with blue vinyl top and blue interior (and he still owns it to this day, but I digress). The fact that his first car was a first gen Monte Carlo means he still loves the first gen Montes to this day.
      There was an auction near his house a few years ago and there was a 1970 Monte Carlo there for sale. The man who owned the home and car had died and his elderly wife was selling off the stuff she didn't want or couldn't use anymore. The car was nothing special other than the fact that it had a perfect original body and a perfect original interior and vinyl top...well, except for the fact that it was advertised as having a "Corvette 350" in it. That really doesn't mean much these days because everybody claims that there 350 is a "Corvette motor". Turns out when we got back to his place with the car and checked the engine pad it actually had an LT1 350 out of a 1970 Corvette in it! So we did get lucky in that regard.
      Anyway, the entire point of this story is...guess what color this 1970 Monte Carlo was FROM THE FACTORY? It was paint code 10 "Classic White"...but it had a FACTORY GREEN BENCH SEAT INTERIOR AND GREEN VINYL TOP!!!! Yes, someone actually walked into a dealership in 1969 or 1970 and ordered a WHITE 1970 Monte Carlo with a GREEN bench seat interior and GREEN vinyl top!!! It is one of the most disgusting things I have EVER seen, but that is just how ridiculously popular shades of green were in the late 1960's and ESPECIALLY the early 1970's. Because the original vinyl top and interior are in such nice shape, he's probably going to re-paint the car in code 48 Forest Green...because he pretty much has to! Hard to paint the damn thing any other color when the top and interior are GREEN!
