This is still one of the best all around quads out there right now. The engine and tranny are seamless. Power is very adequate, handling is superb. I put maxxis 26' zilla lights on mine and wow what a difference in handling and zero power loss. great looking quad and backs it up with strong performance and handling.
i have a 2007 suzuki king quad 450 i just purchased about a week ago rode it around a little in different terrains mud, hills, sand..it seems to be a pretty good machine. Any recommendations or something i need to know about this particular atv????
@stephshane1 It's true, belts can easily slip when wet. Although there's a drain, it doesn't help KEEP the water from making the belt slip, only fix it afterwards!
@MystiK570 You are right, there are very few times I need the additional power of the 700 or 750. Only in the deep snow in the higher mountain country. So either the Griz 550 or the King Quad 500 would be perfect. I prefer the King because it is smoother running, smoother operating transmission, and has a parking brake rather than a park position in the transmission.
@ATVTVCOM thanks for the quick response. i looked into the tires you mention they have pretty good ratings and not to bad on prices. I also should mention that it came with AT 26x 10-12 Pirelli Mudweisers. are they any good??
@p700rider We 'kind of' agree. We've found the 500 to be all the ATV many people need, so the same chassis may not be such a bad thing for those that like the machine but don't need all the power of the 750. But, agree with you and can only wonder what the 500 engine and drivetrain would be like in the 400 chassis!
We want to concentrate on what we enjoy the most - UTVs and utility ATVs. We used to have a show just for racing and sport ATVs called ATV Television SportEdition but no, we don't have any plans to revive it ;-)
I am debating wether to get a king quad 500 with power steering or a king quad 750 without power steering. They are nearly the same price. What would you do?
@ahiggins8295 Tough question. Is lots of power more important or better steering? We were surprised how well the 500 worked. It's powerful enough for me for everything but deep snow in the mountains. But then I don't do much of that.
@stephshane1 Great! I accidentally erased your earlier message when I tried to answer it. Yes! The foot shift King Quad has a great transmission for the mud - just like the Honda.
Very different machines - the 400 is a smaller frame with a rear swing arm, more nimble but without a locker. The 500 is full-size IRS with a locker. Both have some very good points and a few drawbacks. Too bad the 400 doesn't have the 500 engine and locker. It would be the very best ATV out there - in my opinion.
@countryboy3667 That's a very tough question for me to answer. Where do you ride? How do you ride? What's your experience? What are you going to use it for?
@xmodh212 The manufacturers have PR/Media departments that loan our the vehicles to different media outlets for testing. Unfortunately they must be returned when the testing is completed.
@p700rider Hmmmm. What about the new Rancher? I know the dilemma. I think the perfect quad would be a KQ 400-sized machine but with all the attributes of the 500 - and maybe even a 650! Although not as nimble as a smaller machine, a KQ EPS (the revised geometry is a big help) with a good set of radials is a good machine on the difficult trails. I also put on Works shocks that lower it a bit. Let me know what you decide....
i love this atv. i think if i had a pick of any 500, i would pick the king quad just because it looks some what sporty, and a good size with all the options i want. if only i could afford a quad, i live in the country and have the space to drivem and everything, just no money to put towards one ='( nice quad by the way!
how do this do in water ? i am either geting this are the 400 fs and also do this have a belt drain pulg ? i am just wondering beacse i have heard bad things about belt driven forwheelers .
@x11xCod You are correct, except some front 'limited slip' differentials work far better than others. So maybe there's 3, 3 1/4, 3 1/2 wheel drives ;-) Tires make HUGE difference on how a front diff works. Typically a limited slip differential slips more, the more aggressive the tires you have... Strange but true ;-)
I suppose I don't have to answer them ;-) The manufacturers loan us the vehicles we test. Of course, the problem with this is that if you find faults (like we did with Polaris reliability) they won't send any test units.....
Ok, Im aroun 140-160. Age 22, I really have never road a atv before as weird as that may seem. But I'm about to buy one. I really like the Grizzly 550. I don't want to get a 700 because well I don't feel like being put into the ground at the age of 22.
Others are coming - we are loading these from our website and just going down the list. Once again, all these tests are already available on our website.
@x11xCod Which ATV (and size) will be best for you depends on a bunch of stuff, but you can see from watching our videos (go to our website where they are all categorized so you can more easily find the ones you want to watch!) that we love the Suzuki and Yamaha models.
@nitroman1999 Yes. The only place I wish it were the 750 is in the high country deep snow - then, like every other machine, there's no substitute for power (and tires!). Trail riding it's perfect!
yall realy need to do a video on the suzuki vinson 500 and tell me the down falls and the goods and the bads and stuff

The Honda is a great machine, but the KQ is one of my all-time favorites!
can you anser the quastion about the 400 fs does that have a trany like the honda with no belt ?

We've got one from back in '05. We just haven't gotten those videos up yet.
I have a choice between a king quad 500 and a 2013 honda foreman 500 foot shift what should I get?
@stephshane1 It's true, belts can easily slip when wet. Although there's a drain, it doesn't help KEEP the water from making the belt slip, only fix it afterwards!

You should test more sport quads!! like the yfz450 and ltr450
I am debating wether to get a king quad 500 with power steering or a king quad 750 without power steering. They are nearly the same price. What would you do?
The Dif Lock locks in the front differential so that both front wheels turn at the same speed no matter what!
I love the white colored paint!!!
@Mrgmail15 WHy choose between those two? Why not pick the King Quad 400?
@ahiggins8295 Tough question. Is lots of power more important or better steering? We were surprised how well the 500 worked. It's powerful enough for me for everything but deep snow in the mountains. But then I don't do much of that.
for me its down between this or a polaris sportsman 500 any ideas
@stephshane1 Great! I accidentally erased your earlier message when I tried to answer it.
Yes! The foot shift King Quad has a great transmission for the mud - just like the Honda.
I noticed at the suzuki shop the other day that the power steering wasn't very apparent at low speeds, is the grizzly any better?
No. But to me, the Grizzly, KQ, and Brute Force are by far the best power steering system because they are not over-powered and retain 'feel' !
@ATVTVCOM why did u stop the sport reviews

@x11xCod It's only a limited slip (no locker) but at least one of the best on the market.
@PurpleCorvette Thanks for your kind words, but no, they didn't listen and make the access easier. I guess they figure, "What do I know?"
@Fischize Actually it's white plastic - much better as it doesn't chip !
@xmodh212 The manufacturers have PR/Media departments that loan our the vehicles to different media outlets for testing. Unfortunately they must be returned when the testing is completed.

You can but you have to be going slowly for it to engage or disengage. Easier on the mechanicals the slower you are going.
@907outdoorsman We'd review them if we could get them. My personal favorite of the units you list is the Grizzly 550 - especially with EPS.
i love this atv. i think if i had a pick of any 500, i would pick the king quad just because it looks some what sporty, and a good size with all the options i want. if only i could afford a quad, i live in the country and have the space to drivem and everything, just no money to put towards one ='(
nice quad by the way!
Where do you get all your models to test? Are they like showroom models? Id take some off your hands ;)
how do this do in water ? i am either geting this are the 400 fs and also do this have a belt drain pulg ? i am just wondering beacse i have heard bad things about belt driven forwheelers .
have you made a vid about sport man xp 850/550

honda and suzuki should bring back there 300 class 4x4 machines.
have you had any problems with this machine... i am getting one and just wondaring ..
Oh man you probably thinking I leave lots of questions but where do get all the money to buy all of these different sidexsides and atvs?
I suppose I don't have to answer them ;-) The manufacturers loan us the vehicles we test. Of course, the problem with this is that if you find faults (like we did with Polaris reliability) they won't send any test units.....

Can you switch 2-4 or 4-2wheel drive or diff lock when moving/driving?
Sorry for my bad english :)
@touggie2000 Put on a good set of radial tires like the STI Black Diamonds, ITP, Terra Cross, or the Carlisle Black Rocks
is the power pretty impressive for a 500cc
@x11xCod You're quite welcome.
What does the diff lock do?
@x11xCod Yes, it does not have a locker.

@x11xCod Those are both great machines. Either one would be good.
is there recoil on the king quad 500
If you mean a pull starter - no.
P.S. I want the gray 750 BAAAAAD!
@x11xCod Probably the King Quad 400 4x4
@Lenar2541 The plastic panels are a drag, but everything else is great.....
@x11xCod Yup!
@andyman14134 See the FAQ page on our website. There are a lot of factors that go into that decision.
Sorry guys but we've stopped all sport ATV reviews.
i have the as 400 and it is not shifting and it is faster but it is a few hundred dollers more
@x11xCod I answered that on the other video....
@countryboy3667 I have a friend that put over 7500 miles on his KQ700 with zero problems....
@KINGTIGER17 This!
@touggie2000 Sorry. Never heard of them...
@SUPERSPARTA41 This one!!
Only the size of the engine...
@MrDoubleONothing Huh?
Drive train from the tranny to the axle... Chain? Shaft? Other?
All modern Utility vehicles are now shaft driven.
@countryboy3667 This is a great one!
None
@andyman14134 Nope. Same-o same-o
