    University of Miami alumn here. The only way we get a new stadium is if we join the Big 10 or SEC. The U’s priorities are more focused on academics right now and getting back to national contention. Honestly, the only Miami school that could get a revamp on their stadium is FIU if they get it together. Miami tends to host a lot of sporting event, specifically soccer.

      Well, a decade or two in the big 12 would give them just the rub they need to eventually join the SEC on their terms.

      @shanekeenaNYC Год назад +1

      @@timkinley1779 Both Miami and Pitt could easily add $10 to $15 million dollars a year in brand equity alone with home stadiums of their own. As for Louisville and Virginia Tech, they just need the rub from consecutive big 12 championships.

    • @timkinley1779
      @timkinley1779 Год назад

      @@shanekeenaNYC That does nothing for the SEC. Miami can't draw 40k people from a population of over 3 million. That isn't a good look. The most recent additions of A&M, Texas, and Oklahoma pack in over 90k people and a college football atmosphere. Miami is bottom tier for P5 in attendance and relevance. If it wasn't for a few '30 for 30' episodes, there would be even less intrest. The SEC would loose revenue having to cut Miami in. Plus their TV viewers are low. Miami lost it's way 20-plus years ago.

      obviously, metropolitan programs like Miami & USC need wins, but they also need to play good competitive teams. Miami needs to replace Vanderbilt in the SEC east, and USC move to the big 10 will definitely beef up their schedule. Miami does need a stadium like this that will help their recruiting, and show recruits that they can play with luxury in a small setting. Personally Miami should've worked with Miami FC to build a 45,000 seat stadium.

    • @jostrander71
      @jostrander71 Год назад

      @@Irish8625The ACC has the 2nd most National Championships over the last 20 years. Until Michigan won last week only one title for the Big 10. The ACC is as good or better than the Big 10 of last year. Now of course they added more teams so we shall see. Miami has only won 10 games once since joining the ACC 20 years ago. They have never won a ACC championship. You think they would do better in the SEC or Big 10? Highly doubtful. Miami will never be good again like 30 years ago. It will never happen. Just like Nebraska. Never happen.

    i dont believe that the hold up is the funding. its the city of westchester where tropical park resides. the residents are against using public land for private use and the added traffic. imo it would be the perfect location. there is nowhere in coral gabels to build. tropical pk is only 3 miles away from campus and right off the freeway for access

    • @traintrak
      @traintrak 6 месяцев назад

      Well technically it's not city of Westchester it's unincorporated Miami-Dade County. Normally when I pass by there it is relatively packed especially on weekends so I doubt the county would approve something like this to happen.

    I think you can make a shared stadium work with the technology today. Both Dolphins and Hurricanes need new places to play for sure. Just don't make the tax payers fund more of these projects. If you are saying that proposal called for 65,000 seats for a college venue it could work for the NLF as well. 65K is too big for Miami sports IMO. They should go to 55 or 60K and have it expandable. Better option overall.
