I did enjoy this. It’s one of my favorite things to watch on RUclips and that’s visiting coffee shops

I went to Sey, with a friend who was visiting and about to leave, so we were in a hurry. It is just 10 minute walk from where I live The coffee tasted very nice and smooth. But I was disappointed that they were served in disposable paper cups at $5 for an espresso and $5 for a cortado. It really cheapens the experience and prevents from really appreciating the flavor. It also creates unnecessary waste, contributing to NYC's garbage problem. I know that in my native hometown of Milan an espresso and cappuccino cost way less than $/€ 1.5 and drinking from a ceramic cup really makes a difference. I would have appreciated a better serving experience from a top roaster in NYC, especially considering the premium prices.

@@EuropeanCoffeeTrip Oh no doubt. I think what got my attention was how basic it appeared. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. That might have been the right ambiance for that location; understated

@@EuropeanCoffeeTrip can you elaborate on the others? I actually live in Brooklyn. Being from Italy I find the price for an espresso or a cappuccino NYC extremely high. I bought a bag of single origin Brazilian coffee from Partners, I find it really good. But is it better than the Colombia Supremo coffee beans from the supermarket Trader Joe’s? The price of coffee in the USA seems a lot higher than in Europe. So having more insight is helpful. I heard about Variety roasters too. I mostly do moka, some espresso, occasionally aeropress.

very cool and good job guys! Welcome to the States! The content is fantastic and I've been looking forward to it for a long time Lol. If I get to say one thing it could be that I'd wish you guys can slow down a bit. 6 cafes in a row is quite intense, and one can't get much out of it. If it's possible, I'd like to hear more about your thoughts and opinions on each of them, instead just saying they're good. But as always, thanks for the effort, and have a wonderful stay here!

Agreed but I would say if they went to Sey that would be a great video in itself. You can argue about going to the other shops.

This video would have lost all credibility if they didn't add Sey Coffee. Sey Coffee is not only the best roaster in NYC but arguably in the world. Tobin (one of the founders) was in the video too. Suffice it to say I've been to all Anchor, East One, Partners and Devicion. East One is definitely gotten better this year due to the hard work of their roaster and coffee director Selina (who appears in the video) Anchor is nice due to the staff but Parlor has lost luster. Devicion is best for the appearance but their coffee I wouldn't put as one of the best in Brooklyn or even NYC. I would probably go to Sweet Leaf or CharterHouse (which carries Middle State coffee) if I wanted a great cup of coffee. Partners is still owned by the same people. They rebranded as it made no sense to pay the Toby's licensing when their coffee is more American. Overrall the video was more about one person's experience in the NYC coffee. Considering there are over 25+ roasters in Brooklyn, choosing 6 is challenging. I'd probably go to just to Sey and East One and end the video.

Is there any kind of list of specialty coffee in NY city? Roasters, shops, anything? Please, desperate girl.

    • @stefpix

@david Wong thank you. You add exactly what was missing. I brew my own coffee with moka a pot a a delonglhi espresso machine with pressurized portafilter.
To buy coffee beans, what do you suggest? I drank for years Lavazza Oro which I find good, but I’d like some change.
I like also Trader Joe’s Colombia Supremo. I bought some Partners Single origin Brazil.
Anyway not sure if you read this. It is strange that Partners was named Toby’s even if their style is different

@@stefpix I suggest trying all types of coffee. Specialty coffee has focused on having higher quality coffee. For myself, I look for terrior or the native flavors coming from the local agriculture. Each coffee community seeks their own expression of coffee. I ventured to try all types and eventually decided I wanted to have transparent expression of coffee from the ground. Thanks for commenting Stefano!
