“Gni,” which means “River” in the Beté language of the Ivory Coast, Dobet’s native country, is the second single from her upcoming album Zouzou. Scheduled for release in February 2024, Zouzou was produced by Momo Wang, aka Dr. Wang, one of Abidjan’s most in demand beat makers and producer for top international talents such as Malian R&B superstar Aya Nakamura, leading coupé-décale singer Ariel Sheney and many others.
After spending many years living in France, Dobet has returned to her homeland in search of inspiration from the thriving music and arts scene of Abidjan, one of Africa’s largest and most creative cities. Along with Dr. Wang, Dobet turned to the innovative director Jyphael Tayorault to produce three music videos to accompany songs from her new album.
The colorful music video for “Gni” was partially filmed at Lagune Aguien, a lake on the outskirts of Abidjan and in a nearby film studio. The video features scenes of Dobet dressed as a river goddess swimming in a pool of chocolate, a symbol of abundance and luxury. White-masked male dancers splash out their steps in bright pink water, then the waters turn orange for a group of female dancers dressed in blue bathing suits.
On “Gni” Dobet sings of the power of water to nurture and inspire: “Near this river, love lives / Love flows like water / Let our hearts be filled with sweet thoughts near the river / The atmosphere is calm and peaceful / Silence is infinite / The imagination becomes fertile / Negativity is impossible / Love lives there.”

« Gni » qui signifie "Rivière" en langue bété est le deuxième single tiré de son prochain album « Zouzou » qui sortira en février 2024. L’album est produit par Momo Wang, alias Dr. Wang, l'un des beatmakers les plus demandés d'Abidjan et producteur de talents internationaux tels que la superstar R&B franco-malienne Aya Nakamura et le chanteur de coupé-décalé Ariel Sheney.
Après de nombreuses années passées en France, Dobet est retournée en Côte d’Ivoire, son pays natal, en quête d’inspiration auprès de la scène musicale et artistique florissante d’Abidjan, l’une des métropoles les plus créatives d’Afrique. Avec Dr Wang, Dobet s'est tournée vers le réalisateur Jyphael Tayorault pour produire les trois vidéoclips accompagnant son nouvel album.
Le clip de « Gni » a été en partie tourné dans la Lagune Aguien, un lac de la périphérie d’Abidjan ainsi que dans un studio de cinéma non loin de là. La vidéo présente Dobet habillée en déesse nageant dans une rivière de chocolat, symbole d'abondance et de richesse, tandis que des danseurs masqués de blanc marchent, leurs pas projetant une eau rose devenant orange qui éclabousse un groupe de danseuses vêtues de maillots bleus.
Sur ce titre, Dobet célèbre la force de l'eau nourricière et ses pouvoirs d’inspiration : « Près de cette rivière, vit l'amour / qui coule comme l'eau / Que nos cœurs se remplissent de douces pensées près de la rivière / L'atmosphère est calme et paisible / Le silence est infini / L’imagination devient fertile / La négativité est impossible / L’amour y vit. »
