- Ki-61-I hei Tada's is a fighter plane in Japanese tech tree. At first glance it looks usual, but it end up being unusually effective.

The tech tree version was absolutely amazing quite a while ago. But now, with its higher br (it's 5.3 in AAB) and japanese guns performing better, it's really not special anymore. Its repair cost was pretty big from what I remember too, it's somewhat acceptable now but it's still on the higher side
I'll take *Ki-43-III otsu* over it for sure, in all gamemodes. Insane flight performance, two 250kg bombs and great firepower.
If you want a japanese CAS plane at lower br, *Ki-43-II* is by far the best pick. Probably the best flight performance in game and two 250 kg bombs. Its 12.7mms work well against planes and squishier tanks, same with the 20mm version.
B7A2 is also amazing, great pick if you want something bigger (a 800kg bomb) while still keeping the 20mms and soem of the maneuverability.
SL rewards for the Premium version are also quite nice.
I just unlocked the variant with two Ho-5 cannons and I'm currently spading it. ATM the Ho-5 are probably the better choice over MG 151/20, at least for killing planes.
I have to disagree, at least from personal experience the, the 151s have been the strongest and most reliable guns that p much decimate everything. I haven't had the same success with the Ho-5s, although I may go fly out that variant a bit more now
@@acepilotv1059 I have also noticed that using stealth belts on the F4U-4B kinda feel better than using 151s

Great review! I have only played the .50 cal version of this plane and even that is really good, especially at a lower BR.
For anyone on the fence. Get this plane now. It will go up tomorrow in GE costs because it is moving to rank 4. It is 1,750 GE and worth it.

Air rb main here. ki61 is in my opinion the best japa fighter. it outturns spitfires, but can hold energy very well if you macro wasd aka faster than zeros. Hei tada has even mg151

It`s my favourite plane of all. I buyed the Prem and go for much money :D. U can even dominate in Air RB.
The Ki-61 and Ki-100 are my favorite IJAAF planes purely based on their looks.
Sure, having a pair of 20mm MG151 or Ho 5 cannon doesn’t hurt. But something about the European design aesthetic of the plane really works for me compared to the standard Japanese fighters.

for any air players, this plane is actually a poor choice. it effectively has the same flight model (except being heavier) as the lower br ki61, and the two mg 151's are NOT worth the full 1.0 br increase. it is hard to get energy back in this plane, and it's climb rate and top speed are mediocre at best.
In ground RB, sure
But in air RB it's shit, same engine as the 3.3 Ki-61! Except it's now heavier cus of cannons AND has to face better competition.
For air RB there are much better options.
There's no reason to fly this over the Ki-61-I Otsu or Ki-61-II Otsu Kai. It has the same engine as the Ki-61-I Otsu, worse performance, arguably worse ammo, and its 1.0br higher (Maybe its 0.7br higher idrk.) The Ki-61-II Otsu Kai has a better engine, the same weapons (Ho-5's are just as competitive as the 151's because of there high velocity and improved explosive mass recently), and is at the same BR (or its only .3 lower, but that doesn't matter because 4.3 doesn't having any good enough ground lineups for the battle rating to matter.)Why go hei when the Otsu's are so much better?
