Yo Atlanta is changing one neighborhood at a time. Poor folks in Atlanta are being moved out and rich kids and Upper class $200k+ households are a requirement.
@@CrazyJoeClark429 FACTS. I left Atlanta years ago. It's soooo damn expensive to live in the nice areas. People flocking there are finding out. You may want to find cheaper safer cities to live.
I've been a Columbus/Fort Moore resident for over 40 years now, and I take great pride in my community. Whenever I plan a trip to Atlanta, I like to view videos of the city to get a better sense of what to expect. It's always helpful and adds to my excitement. Thank you for providing such great content.
I moved to Atlanta in 2020. I have not experienced any southern hospitality here what-so-ever and the culture is "very ghetto." It's also very difficult to find employment and the people in Atlanta are not friendly.
I’ve never seen a thick coat of green pollen dust on my car til I moved to the ATL metro. Atlanta doesn’t really have a traffic problem; it has a slow driver problem. A lot of people drive 40 to 55 mph when there is no one in front of them and the speed limit is 65 mph; and they drive side by side creating this wall that backs traffic up for miles. So, many drivers here impede the flow of traffic. It makes those behind them drive aggressive.
Nah the speed limit is 65 but defensively driving is the way to go who wants to be in an accident the ones that feel people drive to slow because they feel we need to drive faster.. you can’t stop in a hurry or make better decisions behind the wheel in which always results into traffic accidents overtime
My advice as a NYer that’s successful in Atlanta…. Have a plan. And don’t come here broke. Don’t come down here thinking of Black Hollywood 😂 😂… buy your home, bring your stable income, don’t come here single, and mind your business… The houses are huuuuuuuuge! Talk less and observe more…. You addressed the disconnect in your first sentence. Most people in Atlanta are not natives. All the don'ts you mentioned are usually the culture that most non-natives are here perpetuating.
The "southern hospitality" is a front (smokescreen). People here will put knives in your back while being "friendly". The city is about MONEY: the more you have, the more congenial is the "southern hospitality"! The less you have, Atlantians will treat you as "undesirable". This does not suggest that EVERYONE here fits these categories, but a large consensus of Atlanta folks DO act as I've pointed out.
Really good, comprehensive review. I lived in Atlanta decades ago. It was a totally different city. You wouldn't believe it. I had a beautiful five-bedroom home in Alpharetta. When I visited a few years ago, I was totally shocked. When I lived there, Atlanta Metro, surrounding cities and the suburbs was comprised of mostly blacks or whites. There were very few People of Color. Crime in the part of Alpharetta that I lived was practically non-existent. Five-star restaurants, concerts, theatre, church events, and active political activities flourished. It's unrecognizable now...
There is zero southern hospitality is Atlanta metro. You want that? You’re going need need to live the North Georgia mountains or southern Georgia. Regarding driving, and yes there are fools on the road. I recently witnessed a 9 car accident on I-20 because those idiots were running around 90 mph and clipped two other cars. That sent vehicles spinning out of control and smashing into the concrete barrier. I am never in a hurry. If drivers don’t it like then go around. Don’t get me started about these drivers with bad and bald tires speeding in the rain. Every time it rains I’m waiting to hear sirens and it never fails. It’s usually firetrucks going to use the jaws of life to get these fools out of their vehicles because they’ve lost control and hit the concrete barrier. Of course, I’ve witnessed the same driving attitudes in Los Angeles, Metro and all over Florida.
I lived in west end in the late 90’s. Gas was about $1 a gallon. I went for a visit just before the pandemic. So many homeless people bathing in the fountain on peachtree. Nice video!
My family lives in McDonough, GA. When I went home in January, I didn't recognize Atlanta. I have never been a fan, even as a young adult in the late 90's early 2000's. As soon as I landed, I was ready to leave.
So I'm typing while I'm watching, Being from NYC I can honestly say, moving to the A was financially the best move, because it's a city with metro areas that are growing. It took me 3 years to lower down my NYC guard and hard shell. It's still there and probably never leaving, but I'm more chilled now lol. Food is sub-par, you have to hunt down really good eat spots and they are mostly in the hood lol. But that's where the pretty women are too so... I mean feed your belly and your eyes. I hate any temp over 70 so I can't comment on the weather, but it rains like a jungle for like 15 mins out of control. Pollen isn't so bad, it beats picking up 30 lbs of wet snow. Traffic is great for me lol, they do drive like they are trying to impregnate your car. I leave where the roads are dope, so can't comment. But I believe him. Jobs are plentiful pay is 50-50% but the cost of living is so cheap, so it really depends on where you are trying to live vs what you are trying to do. Like I said, coming from NYC it's dirt cheap if you are leaving a major city and coming here. Home in NYC sold for 1.3 million, the home here was 385K at the time. Now it's 550 to 580. 2016 was the time to buy. Property tax is very low in comparison, home in NYC was 2,100 sq. one car garage attached on a 40 by 60 lot. 8,600 when I left. Now I pay $6,257.21 but for a 3,400 sq.ft. two car garage 60 by 120-ish lot. Now Crime from what I've seen in other spots he is right, but a gun fixes that. One thing is for sure, this is not the spot to be if you are living the struggle life, health coverage is minimal, services are crap or non existent. So think about that before moving here, otherwise you need to bring a strong fam or people who you trust moneywise so you can avoid that type of life style, because it's not worth it.
Atl home towner here, the traffic is absolutely insane but overall quality of living here is not bad, some streets in Marrietta (west of atlanta) have been paved in the past year
I haven't experienced southern hospitality in any of Georgia. I have witnessed police brutality, extremely terrible drivers throughout the entire state, very unfriendly people especially in fulton county, Douglasville etc. The weather sucks. Terrible food. I could go on. Im not staying in Georgia permanently for a million bucks. Im honestly disgusted
“Down here”, you do realize Georgia is on the Atlantic Ocean on the far southeast, so “down here” is relative to what state you are located in. In the case of Arizona, it’s no more South than GA, just on the opposite side of the country.
