Me too, I recently moved close to where his teacher Roy Williams lived and recently met him actually. Nunchuck who has had a huge influence on my life and means very much to me. I had almost the same experience as you, learning so much from this years ago, and still practicing till this day. (I admit not as much as I should be or was before haha)

It's not that I can't do long chain/rope techniques, I choose not to. The long connector was created by the master Bruce Lee as a prop to make his chuck scenes more dynamic. How did movie props (albeit an inspiring and life changing movie prop) become the standard that free thinkers are supposed to adhere to, or be subjected to ridicule by, the uninformed? I really feel bad for a lot of you people. You will never get to experience true flow with a closed mind and an open mouth like you have. My condolences to you.

Lee Barden, i came across a book WAAY back in 94, it was an instruction manual of moves ect treating the nunchuku almost exclusively as a grappling weapon, moves to close the distance, trap punches/kicks, take downs and joint locks on the ground Ju-jitsu style. Like a pedigree bred IDIOT, i neglected to buy the book or even remember its title :-(
Does the book ring a bell in your memory, and IF so, please name it!
on a side, are YOU versed in using it as a grappling weapon, and if so, would you/have you made any videos showing its practical application in this capacity?
      All my respect to you
      Glenn.B

Lee Barden are you seriously saying that the only reason nunchucks had longer connections is because Bruce Lee wanted to make his scenes more dramatic? Wow, you do know that nunchucks are a modified farming tool right? Not even a oriental tool. It was used all over the world. A long stick 3 to 5 feet long, a chain or rope about 12 inches long and then another stick 18 to 24 inches long. It was used to pack large patches of dirt without walking on it. However the Japanese forbid peasants from owning weapons. So, they would modify farming tools into weapons. Now that I gave you a history lesson let me give you a lesson in philosophy. You are still learning to use a weapon and when you modify the weapon so you can do more fancy, flashy non-combative moves and your modification makes them a less effective weapon, you have crossed the line into a baton twirler. You should be at the front of a marching band. 😂. You are correct when you say that gun powder made nunchucks obsolete as a weapon. However, they are still a weapon. Your "Pro Chux" have crossed the line from weapon to toy. Nunchucks have 2 disadvantages against most other weapons. 1: Reach. Nunchucks are a short weapon, compared to a baseball bat, sword ect. The reach is limited. your "Pro Chux" are even shorter. They make the disadvantage even worse. 2 weight. Nunchucks are light, making it difficult to do damage with a single swing. Your "Pro Chux" are even lighter. You could probably break fingers with them possibly a hand. You would have a vary hard time breaking a arm, ribs, and impossible to break a leg. So don't tell people your "Pro Chux" are better, they are not. I would totally fight you, you get your chop sticks tied together with dental floss. I will take a real set of wood chucks with chain, or as you call them "Dinosaur" chucks. I like that, my chucks would eat your chucks. If you want to do fancy moves that's cool man. I love doing fancy flashy moves BUT! I do them with real chucks. I can do thumb rolls and finger rolls and all the toss and catch moves. I don't spin around doing pirouettes and shit though. I move as if I were fighting, not dancing or prancing around. The thumb and finger rolls look way cooler with a longer connection. You get 540 degree spin instead of 180 or 360. Sorry dude, I hope that makes sense. 😂 😂 😂😂 haduken!

I am glad you train with Romero he is good at what he does. The big difference is that Lee can do all the moves that Damien does and do them with Damien's chucks but I do not think Damien can do Lee's moves with Lee's Prochux. When you are one dimensional it limits you and that puts limits on your creativity. With Lee's Prochux system there are no limits!
