Me too, I recently moved close to where his teacher Roy Williams lived and recently met him actually. Nunchuck who has had a huge influence on my life and means very much to me. I had almost the same experience as you, learning so much from this years ago, and still practicing till this day. (I admit not as much as I should be or was before haha)
It's not that I can't do long chain/rope techniques, I choose not to. The long connector was created by the master Bruce Lee as a prop to make his chuck scenes more dynamic. How did movie props (albeit an inspiring and life changing movie prop) become the standard that free thinkers are supposed to adhere to, or be subjected to ridicule by, the uninformed? I really feel bad for a lot of you people. You will never get to experience true flow with a closed mind and an open mouth like you have. My condolences to you.
Lee Barden, i came across a book WAAY back in 94, it was an instruction manual of moves ect treating the nunchuku almost exclusively as a grappling weapon, moves to close the distance, trap punches/kicks, take downs and joint locks on the ground Ju-jitsu style. Like a pedigree bred IDIOT, i neglected to buy the book or even remember its title :-( Does the book ring a bell in your memory, and IF so, please name it! on a side, are YOU versed in using it as a grappling weapon, and if so, would you/have you made any videos showing its practical application in this capacity? All my respect to you Glenn.B
Lee Barden are you seriously saying that the only reason nunchucks had longer connections is because Bruce Lee wanted to make his scenes more dramatic? Wow, you do know that nunchucks are a modified farming tool right? Not even a oriental tool. It was used all over the world. A long stick 3 to 5 feet long, a chain or rope about 12 inches long and then another stick 18 to 24 inches long. It was used to pack large patches of dirt without walking on it. However the Japanese forbid peasants from owning weapons. So, they would modify farming tools into weapons. Now that I gave you a history lesson let me give you a lesson in philosophy. You are still learning to use a weapon and when you modify the weapon so you can do more fancy, flashy non-combative moves and your modification makes them a less effective weapon, you have crossed the line into a baton twirler. You should be at the front of a marching band. 😂. You are correct when you say that gun powder made nunchucks obsolete as a weapon. However, they are still a weapon. Your "Pro Chux" have crossed the line from weapon to toy. Nunchucks have 2 disadvantages against most other weapons. 1: Reach. Nunchucks are a short weapon, compared to a baseball bat, sword ect. The reach is limited. your "Pro Chux" are even shorter. They make the disadvantage even worse. 2 weight. Nunchucks are light, making it difficult to do damage with a single swing. Your "Pro Chux" are even lighter. You could probably break fingers with them possibly a hand. You would have a vary hard time breaking a arm, ribs, and impossible to break a leg. So don't tell people your "Pro Chux" are better, they are not. I would totally fight you, you get your chop sticks tied together with dental floss. I will take a real set of wood chucks with chain, or as you call them "Dinosaur" chucks. I like that, my chucks would eat your chucks. If you want to do fancy moves that's cool man. I love doing fancy flashy moves BUT! I do them with real chucks. I can do thumb rolls and finger rolls and all the toss and catch moves. I don't spin around doing pirouettes and shit though. I move as if I were fighting, not dancing or prancing around. The thumb and finger rolls look way cooler with a longer connection. You get 540 degree spin instead of 180 or 360. Sorry dude, I hope that makes sense. 😂 😂 😂😂 haduken!
Holy smokes sir. I've been doing nunchaku for about 33 years on my own. I love them. But compared to you I am just a baby. I've never thrown them. You got some big cojones.
WOW Lee, I am speechless. A friend showed me his skills and I was hooked. I can "see" the art to it and the freedom in knowing lanes. I have been watching ur clips and ordered chux from ur recommendation. All that skill and still full of humility. Thanks for all ur help. Your students are very fortunate.
I am glad you train with Romero he is good at what he does. The big difference is that Lee can do all the moves that Damien does and do them with Damien's chucks but I do not think Damien can do Lee's moves with Lee's Prochux. When you are one dimensional it limits you and that puts limits on your creativity. With Lee's Prochux system there are no limits!
I like this guy's vids cuz he shows actual rhythm. Lots of other video's are just technique after technique with hardly any flow. This guy is way more relaxed and he has fun with with his moves which makes watching and learning more fun + easier i think.
he's just amazing...control..speed...tecniques...moves...he's got it all...and he talks while doing all this...like its nothing...what a demonstration...Respect...
Still amazes me that someone can see something this cool and have to comment on a haircut. Priorities RhaAl, Priorities! You either weren't born during that time or you had one and can't get over it. Thanks for the backhanded compliment anyway.
You're truly awesome Lee!! You move like a tornado on the single and double nunchucks. You've taken the art of nunchaku to great heights! Absolutely high tech moves!
During any martial art movies and displays, Bruce Lee's name always makes an appearance as do negative remarks! This guy whoops ass, thanks the upload.
you see so many people who obviously have no martial arts understanding about nunchaku and try to do all the fancy stuff. I keep coming back to this vid because lee clearly has a brilliant foundation in martial arts and has then developed it into a display form (like almost every martial art does eventualy.) This is neither boring nor useless.
unclearless, LMFAO back. Thank you! That is the funniest thing I've heard from anyone in 30 years and I can't remember what is was that was funnier! Half Timers Disease!
Scorpia4206, I hate to inform of the fact that Bruce Lee passed away in 1973. As much as I love and respect him, he isn't kicking anyone's ass anytime soon. Thanks for playing, please try again.
thank you KVG, I have a lot of respect for Master Lee and yourself, your videos are profesional, and i have learned alot from the clips youve posted, and dave he has nothing to prove to you, he is already well respected threw out the martial arts world. and doesnt go around hating on others
This is something quite incredible with the combination of nunchaku skills and mullets.
I learned so much from his videos years back and i still practice to this day. Thank you so much

Great come back for such a mental giant as you!
I keep expecting him to say, "Happy Little Trees" for some reason...
I was thinking the same exact thing while I was watching ! 😂😂😂
fucking hilarious BOB THE PAINTER" funny shit brother!!
Thank you for the great post. Freestyle is all about attributes. Combat and fighting are totally different. Both work to help the other.
Its good to see a fellow Ninja! a ninja with slightly different powers than mine... but still a ninja!
You are great friend, i have a lot of respect for you and your ability. Keep up the great work. maurice
Very impressive. Whenever I try two nunchucks I end up hitting myself in the face and the nuts at the same time.
Yes he can. Check out his combat video clips. Just type in Lee Barden combat chux
ruclips.net/video/ZXBTrdqpvyo/видео.html
Just imagine using flames on the end of your nunchucks.
Nunchakus*
this is just a promo for his instructional dvds. the dvds teach step by step.
OMFG you are the best I have ever seen. I would like you to come teach Lee those impressive moves!!!!!!!
a fellow chucker eh!
"and here's one you can do!" I'd have no teeth left and severe concussion after about 6 seconds!
truly awesome to watch.
Dan.

Buy a set of foam nunchuks. That's what I use, but I've been practicing from a long time. Wooden ones are pretty heavy.
Great u will be another motivation for me..
The place for happy little nunchucks!

The bob Ross of nunchucks
I love your style, Lee. Well done.
He's like the Bob Ross of nunchucks
Love this! Thanks for sharing.
This guy should have done the motion capture for Michelangelo in the upcoming Michael Bay flick.
Holy smokes sir. I've been doing nunchaku for about 33 years on my own. I love them. But compared to you I am just a baby. I've never thrown them. You got some big cojones.

Young Terd Yes he can.

Quite incredible, amazing to watch.
Wow, couldn't say it better myself. Thanks
Lee
Master Lee Barden was my masters nunchaku master. He comes to our school every year.
this is very cool i have 2 pairs of nunchucks and i need to experiment with more.
I like this guy's vids cuz he shows actual rhythm. Lots of other video's are just technique after technique with hardly any flow. This guy is way more relaxed and he has fun with with his moves which makes watching and learning more fun + easier i think.

Very True Thank you.
Thank you for that info I did not know that they were not traditional Chucks.
he really is like the Bob Ross of martial arts! Amazing stuff
Still amazes me that someone can see something this cool and have to comment on a haircut. Priorities RhaAl, Priorities! You either weren't born during that time or you had one and can't get over it. Thanks for the backhanded compliment anyway.
This guy strikes a perfect balance between nunchaku badass and soothing painting guru Bob Ross. Nice work.
You're truly awesome Lee!! You move like a tornado on the single and double nunchucks. You've taken the art of nunchaku to great heights! Absolutely high tech moves!
this was soooooo bad ass omg i love it
Another amazing demonstration. The amount of rotations you put on some of your aerials are just mind boggling.
Brilliant! Thanks
During any martial art movies and displays, Bruce Lee's name always makes an appearance as do negative remarks! This guy whoops ass, thanks the upload.
Master Lee Barden is a true great, his skills speak louder than words
Back in the VHS days this guy must have been awaesome
No, but I googled it. It is a pretty cool weapon and seems to be very deadly too. Thank you, I learned about a new weapon I did not know about.
Awsome.....simply......Awesome!
You are absolutely right grafight, he does and we are friends. We shot his video for him.
Excuse me, but what kind of chucks do you use? Can these tricks be done with okinawan, 5 inch rope chucks?
And who would you be refering too?
That's real smooth. Nice flow.
you see so many people who obviously have no martial arts understanding about nunchaku and try to do all the fancy stuff. I keep coming back to this vid because lee clearly has a brilliant foundation in martial arts and has then developed it into a display form (like almost every martial art does eventualy.)

This is freakin BAAAAAD!!!! when i mean bad i mean good, beyond god. I wanna practice that art
Who are you refering too?
These prochux can do anything a dinosaur chuck can do and so much more. They are designed to be the next level in nunchaku.
@StarcasticMr So articulate, the stick rope thing. Brilliant.
Amazing, your dedication and practice has made you a true master in this art form. Much respect.
Back when this was shot it wasn't called a mullet it was a hair cut. Get over it all ready!
Old School? This Guy made his own school. You have imitation and creation... He is Amazing!!
Thank you sir.
Scorpia4206, I hate to inform of the fact that Bruce Lee passed away in 1973. As much as I love and respect him, he isn't kicking anyone's ass anytime soon. Thanks for playing, please try again.

I'm more impressed by how he can speak and still concentrate on what he's doing!
That looks cool.
Wow! He makes it look very easy.
You can tell if someone is all show as others have stated and when someone is deadly.
This guy is deadly.
the best ad lib ive ever seen on anyvideo... "having a good time" "just playing".. "sweet move"... what a pillock... very good... but a pillock
i like this dude.. he's good, he seems really relaxed. like he's not trying to impress anybody. that's cool...
These days that is what most martial art weapons are really good for.
Master Barden is just awesome, in my book. I too, am a proficient nunchaku person however, nothing like this. Great work. Osu.🏯😌🏯
Old school or Future School.... It doesn't matter Lee is a Master. I'm sure if he wanted old school it wouldn't be a problem!! GREAT!!!!
