Great video, i have a question. I been mining my EVGA 3070 XC3 for about a solid year now, and gaming on top of that. Do you think I should replace the pads?
Yes. The stock thermal management on most GPUs is embarrassingly bad. Are you getting above 100c on the VRAM? Thermal throttling? Want to increase your MH/s and decrease thermal stress? Want to increase longevity? Do it. But, do it well.
@@simonhughes-king Thanks for the response. For mining everything is good. I am about 45/58. BUT, for gaming, I use to be 1100 OC on memory, all the way down to 800 OC on memory. If I don't stay 800 OC on memory or below, I crash. And I can tell from the sides, dust is kinda attached to some of the thermal pads.
I would recommend using HWinfo to check memory junction temp while gaming and while mining. That will give you an accurate picture of how your memory temps are doing. I usually change pads on my GPUs when I see 96 Celsius or above temp while mining or constant 100+ gaming. Reaching 100+ while gaming rarely is acceptable, but sustained 100+ is what I consider a problem, time to change the pads :) Off course this is the logic I follow, you may be able to come up with a better mechanism for identifying the right time to change the pads, if you do let us know :D
