not a dig at you at all, but this reminds me of being 13 and giving a bookshelf tour to an invisible audience in my room bc i had no one to talk about manga to lol. that and hosting a cooking show step by step. slay
oh man I remember reading orange as a teenager and I cried my eyes out over it 😭 definitely a heavy read if you're not expecting it, I'd give a trigger warning before reading too! the art style's super cute so it's deceiving! also if you're looking for recs it's a little out there but I really recommend dorohedoro, it's written by a female mangaka and I think it's up your alley!
Oh, She and Her Cat was from me! I'm so pleased to see it loved and recommended 💜 It was his first animated short film, which is available as a Blu-ray extra on one of his movies, I think? And then it got adapted on crunchyroll more recently. Almost all of his movies have manga and novels available, they're lovely 🥰
QCK I got butterflies seeing this video pop up in my subs and it was my favourite watch from you for ages 🥰 In the most parasocial way possible: you’ve been with me my entire adult life and it’s been sick just growing alongside you. More long vids please xx
Based on your shelves, I think you would really dig Girls Last Tour. It's a post-apocalyptic, slice-of-life about two friends navigating a mostly deserted world. You would probably also vibe with Laid Back Camp which is another slice-of-life about friends who go camping. The Yokohama Kaidaishi Kiko omnibuses are actually a rerelease of an older series. I hope they come out with a full anime someday, but there is an OVA which is pretty easy to find on RUclips.
I love skull face bookseller! Its actually autobiographical and the main character is a woman (she's just a skelleton so its hard to tell). As a bookseller it's very relatable 😂
A post-apocalyptic story I've been obsessed with lately is Girls Last Tour the Ani/manga. It's mostly just two girls exploring a near empty world, but it's so hopeful and heart warming. And I'd say watch first, then read, because Episode 5 really blew me away and won my heart
I love the idea of using the cute drink cans to propagate plants! And thanks for the book reccomendations I put so many holds on my library account while watching this ❤
Yes! That's awesome! And the cans are so easy! I had a hard time throwing the cans away, and when I saw urban outfitters selling ceramic 'cans' I was like, okay hold on let me cook
Big ups for the in-depth collection! I feel like you’d enjoy The summer Hikaru died, it’s just the right amount of spooky horror without tipping the scale into Junji Ito levels body horror. It’s still serializing and I picked it up on a whim!
i love the bracket shelves!! i also need to get back to reading Blood on the Tracks (i think I'm on vol 4?) and this vid is definitely inspiring me to do so! also I hope this doesn't come off as rude or anything (i'm so sorry if so, that's not how i mean it), but despite featuring prominent female characters and romance rent a girlfriend, my dress up darling, and your lie in april are shonen/seinen titles. sometimes it can be hard to tell (especially from the covers) so it's an easy mistake to make. if you're looking for more shojo titles I think you would maybe like Wake Up Sleeping Beauty, Last Game, and Natsume's Book of Friends. Would love to see more book/manga content from you in the future❤
I recommend Junji Ito’s No Longer Human! It’s an adaptation of a novel, kind of a psychological drama. A lot less body horror than his original stories and it made me really curious about reading the original novel
THANK YOU FOR THE LONG VIDEO Q ♡♡ i am such a lover of your long vids. tokyo ghoul manga is sooooo good, you should defo read it! i have the box set but didnt get any cool poster or anything. the box it comes in is sick tho! also i have bought the same volume twice multiple times, i get you lol thank you for adding to my to read list, v excited!
also re: handmaids tale, i really loved the book but i hated the testament bc its like a sequel to the series, instead of a sequel to the book. so as a book-only consumer it made no sense. so you might be able to read it just as a sequel to the series instead of trying to get thru book 1!!
I've already found some of your recommendations really interesting, I would read! I haven't read much manga but my friend did gift me My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness. 😜 still need to read!
They are from the creator Secret Heart! They do limited edition collabs, but I recommend following them on Instagram because they will sometimes do rereleases or sample sales! shopsecretheart.com/
Loooooove blood on the tracks. I love that description of nana because girl it’s a mess you just need to get further in 😂 a good mess but a mess none the less lmao. Lookback by fujimoto is good would recommend, fire punch is also good but that one is more hit or miss for people. The girl on the shore is my least favourite asano title lmao the thing that made you quit I see what he was going for but there was no need for all of that and the ending was a flop for me. I love his other works though and think you would like dead dead demons dedede destruction the main characters are a group of weird girls 😂 buying multiple of the same volume is also an issue I have had 😂 I have a spreadsheet though for tracking now, most of my collector friends do the same
I'm screaming! I'm glad I included that I'm not that far into it yet 😅 But i am HERE for mess, let me get to ordering the books i'm missing asap. Also thank you for the Girl on the Shore mention, because what the f??? That's good to know
@@Qckndlife nana is soooo goood the tea is unbelievable 😂 there is a few extra chapters at the end you have to read online because they never made it into a physical book pro tip 😂 I have all of asanos works and he is one of my favs but yeah that one will not be re-read because why 💀 dead dead demons though and pun pun (when you are in the right headspace) love
My next question.. I know you mentioned some books your boyfriend liked / collects. I am not sure his age, but since he seems. At least 20+ my son is 23 and I know he reads anime .. But the only books I can think for certain he collects is Berserk. If you all have any recommendations for a mom who knows NOTHING about Manga to purchase her son as gifts please provide those recs. Especially if you have read Berserk and know he would love another similar or anything please let me know.. I hope all is well and wish you all a Very Merry Christmas !!
Right? I loved when he brought her that bra, so I was totally on board, but then when she got jealous I was like GIRL. So if it gets better I might have to dive back in
the WHIPLASH my floridian ass had when you said megacon (i’ve never checked to see if it travels) i love megacon and miss going so much 😭 edit: also, not that i think you’ll read this, but if it helps at all it’s important to remember that vampires as a cultural concept exist in many cultures, but the ones you’re referring to (can only walk at night, must be invited in, can’t pass over running water) are very specifically euro centric white depictions of them! so a minority vampire might have different attributes, or one that is white but not in a eurocentric story (like twilight! it’s not the best example but i do love it) so maybe give it another go with that in mind!! it might make it a more enjoyable read 🙂↕️

are-are we the same person?
Oh I still do that sometimes as a 31 year old lady lol, my dogs now know so much about my books.
Over an hour and a half of qcknd organization content I’ve never clicked a notification so fast
One and a half hour long bookshelf tour?? LETS GOOOO
hour and a half?? oh we are SO back !!

Such a treat!! I love long style videos. And I love getting all these recs while also seeing books that I have already in your collection :)
I haven’t watched a qcknd video in a minute and it’s so cool to see you grew into the hobbies as I did 🧡
I love the 360 swivel shots ✨ a vibe
Thank you! I broke that thing after one day of filming 😅 I'll need to order a better one if I do something like this again
Qcknd!! My day is perfect now! Hooray!

This was so fun!! ❤ loved the tour. Love the shelves so much.
I’m so obsessed with your bookshelf 💕💕💕💕

love a long form quack‼️
I wish I could log this on letterboxd bc I am faithfully watching this entire feature length film o7 so far I laughed really hard at Jon's cameo
Im ao glad you got a manga you like with my birthday book gift :) ❤
Big ups for the in-depth collection! I feel like you’d enjoy The summer Hikaru died, it’s just the right amount of spooky horror without tipping the scale into Junji Ito levels body horror. It’s still serializing and I picked it up on a whim!

I read my lesbian experience with loneliness because of one of your streams and now it's one of my favourite books! Life changing, legitimately.
do you have any recs for someone who wants to try manga for the first time? my fav animes are cardcaptor sakura and tokyo mew mew :)
I’m glad I’m not the only one who is always taking pictures of my manga collection to make sure I don’t get the wrong one 😂
YAY
jumping up and clicking my heels
yes don’t miss any details plssssss
I've already found some of your recommendations really interesting, I would read! I haven't read much manga but my friend did gift me My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness. 😜 still need to read!
Ok but WHERE did you get those sailor moon pants?? I need them 🤩
They are from the creator Secret Heart! They do limited edition collabs, but I recommend following them on Instagram because they will sometimes do rereleases or sample sales! shopsecretheart.com/
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is an anime already!
Girl…do not go into orange thinking it’s a cute story because it literally rips your heart out
idk if i'd call orange "cute"....it's a beautiful story but it does have some sad/heavy elements for sureeeee
Oh my god YES!!!!
where are the sailor moon pants from ??!?
They are from Secret Heart! I rec following them on instagram since they do limited edition drops💓
