And can we talk about how this was one of the hypest intros in the show? The Hyuuga clan's Byakugan was hyped to be more dangerous than the Uchiha's Sharingan, with an old school nobility family going back generations. Of course they threw all that away in Shippuden, but it was cool to see at first.

I remember when i first saw this. I hated Neji. I hated the way he talked to his own cousin. When he fought Naruto. Everything changed. I felt bad for him & i felt bad for her too. Neither asked for this. I forgot they were still kids. What bothered me those most. Was his death & never tried to remove the curse mark.
They killed him for shipping...that still hurts a decade later.

@@dumbidea1007 No I think Neji has the right to be angry but Hinata was never responsible for the curse mark nor did she ask to be born into the main branch. She's being bullied for something she had no control over and something she never wanted as she would most likely be against the idea of the curse.
But like Naruto said, it's not Hinata's fault her Dad was born first. Hinata had all that pressure to be great, as the princess of the Hyuga clan. She never asked for any of it, she was obligated. She only pushed herself bc she was afraid of failing. If she was given an option to choose a different path in life, it's likely she would have.

Y'know they should make Hinata development better bcz she deserves that. She trained so hard since her childhood. Her Byakugan is better as compare to other hyugas but still there is no any development.
They look down on her because she's supposed to be the strongest of their clan. And they compare her to her cousin and father, so their expectations of her was very overwhelming.
Isn't it canon that she didn't even want to be a Shinobi and that's why she barely even trained once she entered the academy?

This is why I cant take peoole serious when people say Hinata had no personality or backbone. Only her and a few others at the time knew what Neji was capable of and I’m sure that even if it’s a little she knew that he had a killing intent towards her yet even at the verge if death she still never backed up.
I do agree that a lot more could and should have been done with her character but discrediting her efforts because of her shy nature or not being a genius like Neji is laughable.

Yet we love them it's really sad.
I remember it all too well I started watching it on YTV the very first time back in September 2006. I even remember detesting Neji for trying to scare Hinata and seeing Naruto fuming made me feel the same way. And all the way until the end turned me into a NaruHina shipper.
And since summer 2009, I couldn’t watch episode 47 anymore and still never seen it since, for it would trigger me.
Very annoying to cut out sooo many parts of the fight, especially the emotional and motivational moments.
