I remember watching this as a shithead little 9 year old and freaking out. Great memories, it’s amazing how something 12+ years old would make me so nostalgic.
Oh my god I can't believe this still exists. Despite nearly one and a half decades since I watched it, it still pops up in my head from time to time. I just randomly thought to look it up not even remotely expecting to find it, but I was completely wrong. Not only is it up, but it's actually the original instead of a reupload. Kinda shocked to see it has such few likes compared to the amount of views.
5 years later, it's 2020 during the pandemic, and I'm back playing WoW again. I've never really spent much time in the Alliance, I was always Horde, so I switched factions and what pops into my head as soon as I enter Duskwood to quest for the very first time? This song.
Watching in 2020. Haven't watched since... 2009 I think. I remember it was 4th grade. I used to binge watch this back when Wow had the classic design. It just suddenly just popped into my memory one day during work. I'm glad I remembered this.
I haven't seen this since long ago, and I just came across the song on spotify and remembered this music video. I'm very happy it's still here. Memories, man
I woke up this morning with this tune stuck in my head and I couldn't remember where it was from... then I remembered and here I am. Always loved the WoW machinima.
My mom found this really creepy old doll at a yard sale a few weeks ago so we've been planting it around the house for each other to find all week. Totally inspired by this song.
I don't miss my childhood. I enjoy being an adult. I just don't like that the body gets weaker as the years move on, but that is life. No one can tell me that I have to do - Anything - anymore, because I am an adult. And that is great. I choose to do stuff, that gives me meaning.
@adamtried For this particular video, I was still using mostly just in-game footage and editing it together in iMovie, which is why it's kind of dark and grainy (iMovie didn't do a very good job with my .mov files). In a few cases I used Adobe After Effects to superimpose things into a shot that weren't there normally (like the bag of money). It wasn't too long after this video that I started using AE almost exclusively to put together my vids to get better control over the output.
This Doll sounds hilarious, I would love that. Doll: "That's too much honey." Me: "Fuck you doll." Doll: "No, fuck you bro, go make me tea." Me: "But you can't drink, you're a doll." Doll: "I like to pretend, OKAY?!"
Man, when I first heard this song I thought it was about my wife, specifically the whole "and the doll disapprovingly asks if you really need that much honey?". Just me, or did anyone else think about it that way too?
Respect. You have earned mine by making this. As a reformed addict of World of Warcraft, i can definately tell the skill with which you filmed the characters. Well done to the best. Once again... Respect. I urge all who watch to vote 5.
Spiffworlds shoud be in a wow commercial. He like advertised wow and got me playing. Then I got bored...Then watched a spiff world video and started playing again and again and again!
A year ago I ran sound for a live theatre production of two Twilight Zone episodes, and the director gave me this song for pre-show music. I had no idea this was Johnathan Coulton! Huge Hodgman fan here.
i love Jonathan Coulton's songs and the videos made to go with it fit great very nice work. i have his songs put to a playlist ^_^ I play it when im on WoW.
I like this one....I constantly watch it...like the xylophone bits the most.....drives a chill down my spine...My brother likes this song too, but he can't listen to it in a room by himself; it scars him
I loved the video! I hate Gnomes and would TOTALLY be creeped out if I EVER had one following me! LOL! Also on another note.....Jonathan...your music is totally kewl and I hope you get what you want in life! Good Luck!
lol, i used to listen to this song a long time ago, then i forgot about it. then i heard of a song by the same guy but i didnt realize it until now. lol so awesome!
You may be right, although I think my original understanding is correct. I think by the end of the song, the doll has driven the guy crazy, and he's burning not only the box, which represents an attempt to halt his growing madness, but also the big-city money, which represents his life before he came to the house. If Coulton meant to say that the money was next to the fireplace, not in it, there are less awkward ways to say it, I think.
This spoke to me. As a child, I hated to go to bed, so I would lie awake and be introspective. Occasionally I would glance over at some stuffed animals I owned. While during the day I found them adorable, at night they had a shroud of aliasing movement. I convinced myself that my mind was playing tricks on me, and would eventually fall asleep. This changed one day when I awoke to find a toy girraffe sitting next to me, which hadn't been there before. I have never touched this toy since...

I think that's the definition of nostalgia
@@Pol-PotBelated thank you for your wisdom, Pol Pot.
I love how he's only had enough of it once the doll disapproved of his unhealthy food choices.
I like how the worse thing the doll actually does to him is behave like a typical wife, and that drives him over the edge.

I remember watching this years ago when i was still actively playing WoW. Still my favorite WoW video and a fun song too.

It's a feeling that you have felt somewhere before!

Moment of silence for our lost friend, the keyring. Gone but never forgotten.

I miss my childhood. Life just isn't worth it :/
I know the feeling, I feel that way and my childhood sucked.
I miss having free food, shelter, & time but no job or responsibilities.
I don't miss my childhood.
I enjoy being an adult.
I just don't like that the body gets weaker as the years move on, but that is life.

I choose to do stuff, that gives me meaning.

holy cow!! Great Job!!
When he went in his room it scared the crap out of me! LOL

This is such a fantastic wonderful awesome song.
Jonathan Coulton is probably one of the best songwriters of all time. Ever.
I’ve never played World of Warcraft in my life. Do I still remember all the lyrics from binge watching this when I was 10? Of course I do.
I'm a huge fan of Jonathan Coulton. This being one of my favorite songs. You awesome video.
This always creeped me out when I was little.
Just gotta post a recent comment on this awesome classic. Good song by Jonathan made legendary by spiffworld.
My dad showed this to me when Is to me when I was 7 and I had nightmares lol
Switching the the nasty face during the "...and in your head, and you are crazy!" line was spooky genius.
This Doll sounds hilarious, I would love that.
Doll: "That's too much honey."
Me: "Fuck you doll."
Doll: "No, fuck you bro, go make me tea."
Me: "But you can't drink, you're a doll."
Doll: "I like to pretend, OKAY?!"
Loved the end piece there, with the man returning as a doll, very clever addition.
why is Johnathon Coulton so popular with WoW players?
voter96 Cause those videos where really popular back when they got released, alot of wow players started playing with them
I know I did.
Love it. That guy's reactions are hilarious, and the ending...ha ha, great twist!
That gnome with the human face looks so weird xD
Idk how this guy makes songs like this every week..that's some serious talent
Man, when I first heard this song I thought it was about my wife, specifically the whole "and the doll disapprovingly asks if you really need that much honey?". Just me, or did anyone else think about it that way too?
Your comment is basically my entire life’s existence. 13 years ago? Lmao crazy.

A year ago I ran sound for a live theatre production of two Twilight Zone episodes, and the director gave me this song for pre-show music. I had no idea this was Johnathan Coulton! Huge Hodgman fan here.
I like this one, it just goes to show how one musician can do all different types of musics, like this one, and how he can do them all perfectly.

Interesting idea for an ending-having him become the doll for someone knew to find.
I like this one....I constantly watch it...like the xylophone bits the most.....drives a chill down my spine...My brother likes this song too, but he can't listen to it in a room by himself; it scars him
