Golfball Size Hail In Phoenix .AVI

- 10/5/10 in our backyard in Cave Creek, Arizona. This hail starts out mild, then all hell breaks loose! I've never seen anything like this in my life. Our cars are damaged, the lightbulbs in our outside lights are smashed, and our plants are ripped to shreads.

I remember this storm. Absolutely amazing! It's a once a century event in Phoenix. I call it "the day the sky fell"
I bet that smelled amazingly fresh.

@azapachekid It was. At our house, the roof almost gave in and we had a tornado funnel over our block. It was just a mess.

Maybe in the Midwest, but out here in the southwest we don’t really worry about that. The monsoon events here are powerful, as seen by this video, but they dont typically have the kind of mixing of cool and hot air and instability that lends way to tornadoes. We just got unlimited hot air to fuel powerful convective storms. So we can get some crazy hail sometimes, but with little to no worry of a tornado. More likely to have a downburst haha 😅
