glentaker hello I have only little hard floor too, that’s why I always buy the animal edition of Dyson products. So that’s why I have ordered the v10 animal :)

I think the best value out of all the dyson handhelds are the absolute models because of the fluffy hard floor head included-the total clean comes with tools you,ll never use

depechem0demusic yeah I ordered the animal edition because I have more carpet than hard floor, the only hard floor is the kitchen and toilet areas so I feel that I don’t need the fluffy :) and I agree with you, you will never use the other stuff...

Good video - did you tend to find that the powerhead tends to clamp down onto your kitchen floor, which looked like lino - as with my V8 which uses the exact same head, my lino gets sucked up to the nozzle, and then makes pushing the machine harder than it would be if it was used on hardwood floor, or any other type of hard floor which does not get sucked up to the nozzle. The Animal version would better suit people with less hard floors and more carpets , as the Absolute version is better for mainly hard floors, due to it coming with the fluffy head. What do you think about the performance in cleaning mode 1 (the lowest motor power), as this is the mode that Dyson claims will run the longest from a full battery charge. How do you feel about the fact that the run time in MAX is just 6 minutes? Do you feel that you could happily clean your carpets using setting 1 or 2, and not need to use MAX, which is the only setting which gives the comparable power to a mains corded vacuum? I own the V6 and V8, and feel that in the lower power settings, they are good for quick whip rounds, but once a week, you need the more powerful setting to get out more deeper down dirt from the carpet pile, but the drawback is that you only get a short run time in the machines max power, and I found that I could clean about 3 - 4 average rooms in a UK terraced house, in the 7 minutes my V8 gives me on MAX. Do you find the V10 easy to use for above floor cleaning and dusting using the supplied accessories? I also agree with you over paid reviews, where the reviewer gets sent a free Dyson to keep, in exchange for their review, in that I feel these are biassed and not giving a true review of the machines negatives as well as just its positives.

MadAboutHoovers hi, thanks for watching, I’ve literally only used it twice. I don’t think I will run into any battery issues as i am in a terraced house, but I maybe would think twice on a large house. I use it on number 2 for the whole house and max for the rug which takes 20 seconds.. at least it charges whiles docked.... on my old Vax sometime we would forget to remove the battery and recharge after a clean, then it would die half way on the next use. No issue on the Lino, it is new and glued quite well. I do fine the v10 needs more of a push to get started then my Vax but once the momentum is going it’s easy going... the biggest issue I don’t like, is the collection of fine dust around the ball joint/wheel on the head... anyone else have this? Thanks

I have the Vax Air Cordless Lift Duo - the same as yours, and for a Vax, its not bad - I wish Dyson would bring out a cordless upright in this style - I think it would sell quite well. My lino is not glued down, so gives me real problems with some vacuums, and I find that the Fluffy head on the V8 Absolute does very well on it. I live in a Victorian terrace with 2 bedrooms, so the Dyson handsticks work great in houses this size, but in a larger house, if you wanted to use MAX, then you would likely need to do your vacuuming in short, 7 minute sessions allowing a 3 - 4 hour recharge time in between, or vacuum certain rooms one day, and others on the next. The floorheads to accumulate dust on the ball joint assembly and the swan neck pipe inside it - its the static buildup that causes this. One area I would check on the V10 in the power connector socket on the underneath of the bin - where this is located, every time the bin is emptied, fine dust or debris could get caught inside the power connector socket, and this could accumulate and cause problems - so I'd be tempted to vacuum out that connector socket every month when washing the filter, to ensure that it doesnt get all clogged up with dust. One of the best things about the handsticks is the fact that they hang on the wall and charge at the same time, and thats very convenient to just grab and go. My house has never been as dust free as it is now, since I got my first V6, and I just pick it up and go round doing the dusting so quickly now - its transformed the way I do my cleaning, especially above floor dusting as its so much better than the hose on a conventional vacuum. Stairs are a doddle too using these machines!

MadAboutHoovers I do like the Vax and would recommend it within that price bracket. The only reason I upgraded was my partners vacuum died, so she’s getting the Vax lol. I like the look of the soft head and would get it if over 50% of my house was hard floor, but I’m too lazy to swap head for one small room.

I paid £99.99 for the Vax Air Cordless Lift from B&M, and it came with 2 batteries as well. There is one main area to watch on that model, and thats the back wheel plastic chassis mounting point which have been reported to be susceptible to damage and thus the wheel and its spindle drops off the machine. I think they possibly get damaged if people drop the machines on their wheels to heavily or bump the machines about over uneven hard floors. Either way, your partner would be well advised to be gentle with it as it ages, as the plastics on the chassis can get brittle and any rough treatment could damage the back wheel mountings. This has been highlighted in a lot of reviews of the Vax Air Cordless Lift, and has happened about the 1 year old mark to quite a few reviewers. I only got the fluffy head with my V8 as the Total Clean version happened to be on special offer at the time and cost less than the V8 Animal, so naturally I went for the Total Clean. The Fluffy is excellent on hard floors, but if you dont have much hard flooring, then the head you have is excellnt on short to medium pile carpet. Keep an eye on the carbon fibre filaments on the brushroll, as on the DC59 and V6, many of these brushrolls suffered total failure of the carbon fibre filaments within the first year of ownership, so the brushroll ends up bald of black bristles, but the red ones last just fine. Later models such as the V8 seem not to be affected, but I;m not sure if they will be as they get older. Its just an area to keep an eye on.

MadAboutHoovers your right about the wheels on the Vax, mine failed after about a year but they sent me a whole replacement unit.

VIC on ur PC I’ve only used it on 2 and Max... they say low is for delicate flooring.... 2 is more than enough for the whole house.

+tedblight No Setting 1 is not for delicate areas. It's what is encouraged to vacuum and also get the longest run time. Setting is probably what a lot of people would use if they don't clean their whole apartment with it. Max is for stubborn spots only really, Dyson say that Max is not really required unless the dirt is stubborn, though when it's on setting 1 and 2, it's got auction that is no where near as powerful as a full sized SEBO upright or cylinder, even a SEBO cylinder has more suction that a Dyson V10 when the Sebo is on low and the Dyson is on Max. These cordless machines are cheaper for Dyson to manufacture (less parts needed) therefore perhaps dont need as many Field Service engineers to employ as can just post a part to you and lastly, only comes with a 2 year warranty, vs a big corded machine that has a 5 year warranty. plus, batteries start to lose their capacity, so at 2 years, some users who use their machines daily will require a new battery when the warranty runs out. Dyson are smart! They will then try to encourage you to 'upgrade' to the latest one with a discount of 25% which still means it's expensive lol!! Dyson do not manufacture their machines to last year's and years anymore, They think they are Apple or rather want to be!
