My lifelong conservative dad said he gave up on the GOP when January 6th happened and I can’t even begin to describe just how appalled he was when I told him about Trump’s post calling for “a unified reich in America” considering how his dad, his four uncles, and his aunt all served in WWII. This narcissistic, amoral, sad, sorry excuse of a man should’ve been ineligible for office several years ago.

Red Lobster was bought by private equity which then sold all the restaurant land and leased it back to the restaurants. In addition, the owner of their shrimp supplier happened to be on the board, so endless shrimp certainly made him a lot of money.

My grandad nearly died in WW2. Many of his friends died fighting Nazis for our freedom. Thank god we listened to our grandparents who warned us to never let it happen again.

Around 1/1000 of red lobsters losses came from the shrimp promo. The rest came from being sold and their assests broken off and sold piecemeal and then re rented back to them at a markup.
The people who devised that scheme are much richer for it, I'm sure. If they shut down, they'll split up the remaining assets for another fortune and the workers will get screwed, as usual.
It's a lot more than 1/1000. They claim to have lost $11 million due to the promo. But it was still just a very small piece of their overall decline, losing tens of millions of dollars a year for the last 5 years or so.
That's what happens when you let foreign business groups buy up US corporations - we've lost many to overseas conglomerates, which could care nothing about the country, only their profits. A lot of US malls were bought up by Middle Eastern conglomerates, and what did they do - bare minimal maintenance, increased rents even as the properties fell into disrepair, and eventually shuttered stores and shuttered malls.

I don't know if 45 will actually go to prison, but based on the evidence, he is guilty.
If it isn’t a hung jury, and he gets found guilty, I don’t see him going to jail or prison. There is no way they are going to put a former president behind bars. The logistical nightmare of Secret Service protection would be too much for any facility.

After the real estate (that Red Lobster restaurants were situated) was sold, Red Lobster had to pay rent on stores it had previously owned, significantly increasing its costs. According to the bankruptcy filing, by 2023 its rents totaled $200 million a year or approximately 10% of its revenues

The prosecution has the 30+ checks Trump signed, they have Cohen's testimony which has been corroborrated by both David Pecker and Stormy Daniels. Even Trump's own defence witness corroborrated parts of Cohen's testimony. He may not end in jail, as this would be a first offence and he's 80 years old, so they might just give him probation, but there's a significant likelyhood that he will be convicted on this evidence.

And while in Paris for the annual memorial service honoring the American dead who fought to liberate Europe from Hitler, he refused to attend the service. First he said it was raining. Then after the disgrace was obvious he changed it to say he was busy with national security matters. He is the first American president to not bother attending the ceremony!
