    TEU stands for "Twenty foot Equivalent Units". The word "Ton" is not included in that acronym.
    That was only the first fact you got wrong.

    That doesn't make sense.
    The reason, as you say, but only on the end, is that the US port faculities are not capable of processing the huge numbers of traphic and that causes high delays on the on ans off load of goods, which makes the costs very high.

    Could it work around for Newark NJ be that ultra large shipping containers are somehow transferred to a couple of smaller ships just offshore and then brought to Newark?
