    Once again, you impress!
    Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I like that you have created your own carving setups. Like that big wet grinder you are using, gives me some ideas for my setup.
    Though you use the one machine for final polish/buffing. I have the same machine, though I use as my Point Carver. Will have to see about using the other side for buffing.
    Have a great day and thanks again!

    I sometimes use silver welder's marking pencils to draw outlines for sawing and grinding. The marks are highly visible and waterproof. Also avaiable in red and green, I think.

      Thanks for the tip, that sounds like a good thing to explore.

    Exceptional work. I am inspired to create my first toki. What is the thickness of the slab? I live in the U.S., but you can give it in mm...:)

    • @CampbellCarving
      @CampbellCarving  6 месяцев назад +2

      This one was about 10mm. That is a good average size. 5mm is very thin, and 15mm is getting thicker but still managable.

    Do you cut your slabs thicker than 1/4? I don’t know the conversion for Australian. Are they 1/2?

    • @CampbellCarving
      @CampbellCarving  4 месяца назад +1

      My slabs are usually between 5mm and 10mm sometimes up to 15mm for a few.

      Thank you for answering me. I just couldn’t remember the conversion until after I sent my message. Americans are so silly. That tells me a lot more.

      I finally got a chance to watch the whole video without interruptions. I feel very silly after seeing your slabs you showed. This was the best video I have ever watched. I loved watching from start to finish. Really fabulous and beautiful piece.

      Did Rob, the videographer, say the Jade was from Oregon? I saw that on closed caption. I’m from Oregon. I never seen anything like that anywhere. that I go rockhounding. Just one more question. Thanks again for such a wonderful and thorough video. It really did answer all my questions.

      No, it is from new Zealand. I didn't edit the captions so it may have butchered our accents a bit.

    Hey Campbell. What grit is your main shaping disk? Is it a flat lap with diamonds? And same for your second belt, is that diamond too? What grit? Thank you

    • @CampbellCarving
      @CampbellCarving  Месяц назад +1

      Yep everything is diamond main shaping is 80 or 120. The second belt I have is 400 but could be 600.

      @@CampbellCarving Hi again Campbell. What thickness tile saw blade do you recommend? Looking at a 300mm blade, I was thinking 1mm, but that might be too thin? Would 1.5mm be better? Thanks for your help.

    • @CampbellCarving
      @CampbellCarving  Месяц назад +1

      @@AdamEBothwell have a 200mm at 0.6 and wouldn't go bigger. And a 200mm at 1mm and it is strong as. Personally I would try 1mm. It would be worth it if it works.

      I said a black pen is a really good thing. Great for sketching designs you can see when it is wet.
