I hear a lot of you are “on the fence” sooo, let’s see if these tips help with your decision (or not).
    If you have any questions, please leave a comment below and I or this beautiful community of sistahs will be happy to respond!
    Oh, it’s 3 years for me this year!!!

      I wore mind out for the first time out in public today. I've been saying I will go full out in a couple years but I think I will not put wigs on and just go ahead and do it. I will be 51 this year and each time I show pictures of me playing around at home everyone says they love it. I sent a picture of my hair to my daughter and she told me that I looked soooooo pretty and to keep it like that. I've been wearing wigs to hide my grey. I have more grey than all of my friends and they are closer to 60 and as well as my 73 year old mom.

    You’re beautiful to begin with and I think the gray only highlights your face. I’m 60 and went natural with a big chop almost 4 yrs ago and in the last two years the gray has appeared at temples and front. Since my hair is longer I only see it when pineapple-ing at night or when the wind blows it back. I do wear a slight soft part which makes it more visible, and am embracing it. No perms, no dyes is such a relief. I work in largest financial news org where many of the men are gray, but i notice most women color. Also being an older black woman I do feel a little like grandma, but I’m owning it and my seniority. Old heads rule! I’ll take a few of your longer shots with me to next Devachan appointment so she can see how I want my shoulder length hair to continue to grow. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙏🏾

    Yesterday I was walking alone thru down town Philly. I had on black yoga pants & a white boys sz small undershirt with a sleeveless tee underneath, & sneakers. I've been natural & gray for a bout 2 yrs. I had a part down the middle with 2 cornrows. Trust me I was kinda slummin. Two 20-something Black women stopped me & one said "you're beautiful". Without hesitation I said "well look at you...we got it like that..."
    I cannot describe how beautiful I felt. Oh yeah did I say I'm 62 yrs. old!!! Being gray & natural is all that!!. And you played a big role in my decision to transition. Thankyou!!

    If I can add one more. You will have great days where gray feels stylish and you want to flaunt it - do it -and horrible days where you have your car keys ready to get some hair color; stay strong. I promised myself to color if I feel the same way about my hair for 30 day straight..mark my calendar too, it works, I am still gray.

    I will say this... I don't have a huge amount of grey hair at all, but the grey hair that I do have is growing in beautifully. it's not patchy at all. in fact, when I do wear my hair down, which is shoulder length, I part my hair on the left side, and my grey hair falls predominantly to the right side, which looks like blond streaks. I get compliments because people think that the grey hair is blond streaks, which I've never paid attention to the color, because I knew it was grey hair. I would say it's about maybe 10 strands of grey hair. I have never colored my hair just because I see grey hair. I don't even care about my hair turning grey. I think people who are so concerned with grey hair coming, that's when the grey hair grows the most. I will soon be 50 years old, and I have a small amount of grey hair compared to my friends. I notice that they color their hair to hide the grey because they're horrified about turning grey. IDK, maybe there's something to that... being unconcerned, like myself, versus stressing about it, which makes you grey more, which then makes you color it more. who knows.

    • @jjMua
      @jjMua  5 лет назад +1

      @@jjMua lolol. thanks so much. I guess I never really thought about it. I just know that you can't keep fussing and worrying about something that's ultimately going to happen. and just like you, looking so very young, i will be 50 in August, but i look like I'm in my 30s, which is not hard to believe because most black people look anywhere from 10 to 15 years younger than their actual age. i remember one time my husband wanted to dye his salt and peppered beard. i gave him that "sistah-gurl" look and told him that i would be disappointed because i think black men with a mingled beard are so sexy. guess what, he never colored his beard... lolol. girl, that was the funniest thing. anyway, keep doing what you're doing, it seems to really be helping my sistahs that are struggling with turning grey.

    A little over 2 years into my gray hair journey and I fell off the wagon and colored my hair last week! I had many "girl you are rocking that gray hair" days and many "girl if you dont color your hair"days. Lol! The urge to color hit me hard last week so I stopped beating myself up about wanting to color, took the plunge and did it! As you stated, those grays are not going anywhere and I can always go gray again. I did enjoy my journey and gained confidence in truly just being me, gray hair and all. I am loving being dark again though and I'm sure I will embark upon the gray hair journey again at some point. I found the easiest way to transition to grey was complete a big chop (cut from past waist length to a radical pixie cut to 1/2 inch). It has been 18 months and I have cut it three times to keep the pixie hair cut. Yes. I cut it myself. Now it has grown almost to my shoulders after not cutting my feet curls for a year. I love my beautiful silver silky coils. If I want a change from the grey, I use hair make up.

    Love your hair, and that picture with the cornrows is beautiful! I recently decided to go on this journey because the color only lasts 3.4 weeks when done by a professional and only 1.5 weeks if I use the box. The last time I colored my hair was from the box and that was 4 or 5 weeks ago. As each week passed, I didn't make an appointment nor felt like coloring it. Too my surprise, I began embracing and liking my crown 😊 AND not caring who saw it, especially men! I loved going to the store today, with my crown in full view and not feeling embarrassed! I'm looking forward to what my unique pattern will be 😊! Thanks for the tips!

    I get alittle blue at times with the grey & tell myself I'm going to add some pizzazz with color but then change my mind. I don't want to put any harsh chemicals in my hair & furthermore my hair grows so dag on fast that in two weeks the grey would be peeking out anyway.

My back story is, that a few years ago I went through a deep depression due to abuse I was going through while working at Publix Supermarkets. While I was going through that. I let myself go. It wasn't until last year when I left that job did I see the toll that job had taken on not only my mental health but my hair also. I hate that look and prefer my salt and pepper gray hair. Thanks for your videos!!! They help encourage me to love my growing in gray hair!

    Yes, your tips are very helpful! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just turned 61, and everyone nearly faints when they find out my age. They think I'm in my late 30s to mid 40s. My hair has been natural for several years, and I love it; but, wait until they see my grey! LOL! I'm implementing your tips immediately. My hair will be healthier, too. Where'd you get your hair tube? I'm going to use that and scarves to puff my hair out of the top. Your gorgeous! Thanks for helping us grey curly girls.

    • @jjMua
      @jjMua  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Jojo!! As for those unruly edges, mine are still unruly 😂. In the beginning, mine were fly always and I just allowed them to do just that. Since I’m natural, it just kind of went with the look I was going for. I have used flaxseed gel( which is very easy to make, but takes some time and doesn’t last very long), and it worked beautifully! Also, store bought gels like Eco work well for me as well. I just brush a small amount a round my hairline with an edge brush or toothbrush and smooth it in. Not sure if this is something you’ve tried, so let me know if you do give it a shot😘

I have seen some people with grey hair looks really nice and healthy. My feelings may change if more grey hair come in, but so far I am ready. I am checking out videos how others take care of their grey hair already. LOL LOL Loving your hair sis!!!

    I really enjoyed this video!!!!! I am almost 47 and starting to grey, it started with a streak in the front which I loved but it is slowly spreading. I have decided not to color and just to embrace my grey because it is what God has given to me. My only issue is that I have friends my age and older, and I notice that everyone colors their hair. Even in my own family, I am the youngest and I have grey's but this is because everyone is coloring their hair. Yes, it makes me feel funny a bit, but I will not color. Yeah, you kind of feel like grandma a little bit but the thing is, I actually like my grey hair and have decided just to embrace it so thank you for this video.

    Im 40 and about a month ago I big chopped (completely bald) but all my hair has grown in gray. I couldn't take the dusty looking color so of course I put a black permanent color on it and yep 2 weeks later the gray is back with and here's to stay. I only wished I stuck it out and accepted it before I put the dye on but its ok....like most women I was so tired of coloring and bleaching my hair...Trust me ive had every color lol....Thanks you for sharing sis..Your my She-ro...

    As we get older so does our features. I think grey hair actually compliments this. For some of us as we get older black hair doesnt look natural on us and takes away from our beauty. You have to be comfortable in your skin to realize that. Just like you have to be comfortable with yourself to wear your natural hair and not care what someone else thinks.

    I'm 50 and I've been grey since age 10 and coloring in early 20's with aging grey hair has a mind of it's own
    I've gone to color or not color in my 40's
    Now I had to give in because I was tired it and I get complements all the time.
    (So I do understand being tired of coloring)
