Hey man I am new to this modding thing and NMM doesn't show what the hell is closing my skyrim when I run it. So as my last ray of hope should I go through all these videos and will it work in 2020
I left skyrim 2 years ago until now. Two weeks ago I started over and modded a loot, but I was used to NMM, I didnt know anything about vortex, Still I tryed to use it anyways, 2 day ago I got my game crashing over and over and couldnt figure out how to solve it. Thats how I found your videos and I am very thankfull with you. Vortex is way more powerfull than I expected, and the way you teach how to use it is incredible, Thank you! (My birthday is on february 16 so the publish date made me feel like this was a special gift. You are incredible)
This series has been great. Even though I was familiar with mod managers like NMM this guide was very helpful in getting up and running with Vortex. There where a lot of useful features you covered that I probably would't have discovered on my own. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for these videos Gopher. I use Vortex now for Skyrim and i actually like it. A lot of people were complaining about it, but i actually like it since it also visualizes conflicts like these and when the mod-rules are looping. (A->B->C->A) This guide makes it more clear... so thank you. You are a scholare and a gentleman
I really needed to see this. Thank you Gopher. I'm reinstalling SSE yet again today. Been a hell of a time getting it going again. Major crash in March set me back light years. I really needed to see this video. Cheers mate! Update: I found the problem and SSE is running again. THANK YOU!!
Not just a beautiful voice "do this, do that", but a beautiful voice explaining how things really works on modding. Thank you so much for this vids, Gopher. ;)
For someone new to PC modding, someone recommended Vortex to me whereas MO2 is good for those who like more control over their mods or more experienced at it (??); is what I gathered.
"You should use this and that ModManager instead of Vortex..." Well, guess what. This is a TUTORIAL for Vortex, it is NOT a "which ModManager is better"-video. If you prefer MO, more power to you. Gopher made realy great tutorials for that too. There are several ModManager, with several advantages and disadvantages, so you can pick one, that suits YOU the best. Some people even still prefer FOMM. I just realy don't understand, why some people have to write a "use another application"-comment under a tutorial video.
It seems like Tannin and crew have come a long way with the Vortex development. I'm still using MO2, but all for more tools for the community. Thanks for the update Gopher!
Thank you for your tutorials on vortex. I was playing a modded game with NMM and had steam set offline to avoid having to update as the game was stable and I used some mods from another site ( LL ). Game was stable and looked great, then windows updated something happened, nmm was also outdated and one day the SKSE loader from NMM quit starting my game. So I loged into steam, and got the new skse64, and imported mods from NMM. thank you for helping me re learn modding Skyrim SE again. Modding is as fun as playing the game, and your tutorials are awesome. Currently NMM isn't even a download option, onlu manual and vortex, so i appreciate you walking me thru the change over. I also hope having vortex installed will make scrolling thru nexus mods easier again, as right now it was slow, and many important features weren't working like the requirements drop down etc etc Thank you. Im glad your still making tutorials as I still refer to your SKSE64 instillation tutorial often. THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for this! I had cycles involving about five mods and when i followed along the video and found the arrow diagram it reminded me of the always sunny meme with yarn strings and me being the stressed out dude. I fixed it in about three clicks thanks to your video so thank you so much again!
Feels like just yesterday I was listening to you tell me how to mod Fallout 3 using NMM. Thank you Gopher for your work. You make a modder's life easier. I'm not sure if it existed at the time but if it did, you didn't mention transferring your NMM archives over to Vortex.
Thank you for this series. Though not entirely new to modding my games I will admit I've been swimming in the shallow end of the pool. All the videos helped fill in knowledge gaps, but this one contained the most information which was new to me. Thank you for not just providing the information, but producing high quality videos. Your editing is on point. Great work.
Thank you, Gopher. Great video. I've used mod managers MO, NMM, and MO2, as they came out but I prefer Vortex because of the flexibility of managing groups of mods, setting up rules the way I want and easy integration of my tools(like MO2 does), switching profiles on the fly, etc. There are guides available right within Vortex, but nobody seems to read anymore. Thanks for taking the time to put together such a nice resource for us.
Not gonna lie, I did not care for Vortex at all upon first using it, and almost defaulted back to NMM. Your vids have completely changed my mind. Thanks a bunch man.
Thanks again Gopher for putting out videos like these for beginning modders. I remember when I first got into modding, yours were the videos that taught me how to use the Nexus Mod Manager, and really just how to mod the game in general. Great to see you're continuing to provide that to inexperienced modders with the new software!
This is the video I've been looking for. I just started modding after being too scared I was going to screw up SSE for months. Youve made it approachable and have wiped away most of my fears. Thank you so much for this video and this series!
I had pieced a lot of this together from guides and messing around, but it's good to get an overview from beginning to end of how all this works. Cheers.
Watching these videos is like learning Master Spells in Skyrim. I could've figured out everything these videos showed very easily, but Gopher showed me how to be careful with my mods and how to always install with a failsafe in mind back when I knew nothing about modding. Thank you for these videos. May Ysmir's beard bless you for all you've done.
Dude you are a god, spent $40 on the game and was really excited to mod, started freaking out when I couldn’t understand how to do anything, but your video explained it really Well, and in a lot of detail that really reassured me I was doing it right, thank you so much for what you do!
Gopher! You are the man. As much as I love your let’s plays - and I really really really do - I found you through your tutorials on MO2. I so appreciate these tutorials as you make them clear and succinct! It is through your videos that I started my own journey into modding Skyrim! Thank you so much.
That Individual file system actually looks to be helpful! For example, Rustic Clothing replaces the default male underwear textures with nicer ones, however HIMBO supplies its own meshes and textures for underwear. In MO2 it'd be as simple as looking at the file conflicts and hiding Rustic Clothing's textures, but since Vortex can't do that, the next best thing would be to simply let HIMBO's underwear textures take priority over Rustic Clothing with the individual files rule.
Thank god. I thought that loading things before meant that that got priority over the other, I was confused as shit as to why nothing was working right.
Great Video as always. I already knew all of this through trial and error but i think its awsome that you provide these well made videos to less experienced modders. This makes start modding much less frustrating and overall more enjoyable. Keep your great work up :D
Such a shame to see so much fewer views in this video, so many players don't want to learn more and basically miss out on fluid gameplay with lots of mods. As a Skyrim Addict with usually 200+ mods running, I make it a point to refresh the works between plays. (it's like I got an AA chip and fail every year or two) now to the compliments, you should know this, but what the ..... Your videos are one (if not THE BEST) most clear worded explanations/ tutorials. I thank you for your hard work, it is very much appreciated.

Oh my god, I feel like a moron. I have been trying to work on complete ultimate immersion's modding list with their enb, and I have been running into so many issues. This video finally got me to realise what I was doing all wrong. Thank you so much for the video.

I am so enjoying watching gophers vids and rants again, i did miss skyrim and now that he is doing tutorials for it and a lp im having a blast. Thank you for making videos even blond old ladies can follow and learn from.
I've been using Vortex for 2 years now and I'm pretty comfortable and dare say, knowledgable about it with setting up rules and resolving conflicts, but it never occurred to me to click "Edit individual files" before, I somehow always skipped over it. This... this opens up so many new possibilities...
Hey Gopher, Can you please make a DynDOLOD SE tutorial for Vortex as well? I've been trying to make it work properly but i have mediocre results at best. Thanks!
Yes. Please. I use all your tutorial videos before trying something new. Just started using SKSE after viewing your video on that. Cannot thank you enough.
Wow...I started my hand at modding (downloading/installing...not creating) 5yrs ago, and load order was a nightmare and it required soooo much time, etc. This makes it EASY. It tells you every conflict, and helps you fix nearly everything instead of staring at your screen for 2hrs shuffling plugins around. Sadly, I don't need that amount of help now the way I did when I was starting out w/ NMM...but great for all those who are in the shoes I was a few years ago. :-)
Wow excellent video, I used NMM years ago and did everything in a very laidback way, now trying out vortex I was angry yelling that it didnt work, after seeing this video I´m amazed how cool it works, thanks to your video
Gopher, I have absolutely no problem you making this video. I appreciate it. But, all I wanna say is that I wish you made this incredibly important part of using Vortex along with all the other Vortex Tutorials you made. I downloaded Vortex and started using it right around when you made part 4. And I didn't understand a single thing. Like what am I doing ? I'm never gonna play Fallout 4 again, it's ruining all my saves... and then after after a couple ruined save files, I learned for myself. Made my own groups and my own tree diagram in the manage groups section, and had to figure out the mod conflict part by myself. What I'm trying to say is that you're the only one that makes Vortex tutorials on RUclips, I just wish you made these sooner. As in when Nexus Mods literally forced and nagged ppl to use Vortex. Literally changing the NMM button to Vortex.
Would love a 2019/2020 update to go with this series on the uses of the FO4Editor. One example of why you would want this: you could make your own patch file that lets you both increase the damage and value of a sword.
what does that mean? you mean fusing two mods together to create ur own "custom" mod or something similar? :o (I'm extremely new in modding, first time modding skyrim lol)
This video is good for General mod management through for text and the reason I say that is I've been having conflicts with my mods for Fallout 4 and I use this video in an attempt to resolve it so thank you for the information
I posted my first reply before I tried to see if my problem was resolved a problem has been resolved and then attempt to fix this issue I am now on my fourth time going through the beginning of the game
Thanks so much for making this video series. This has been a huge help for me as I try to mod my next playthrough of The Witcher 3. This is quality stuff here.
All that's needed now is a video on how to mod non-Gamebryo games using Vortex, since there are a lot of differences both slight and big between modding Skyrim/Fallout vs other games such as The Witcher.
I've only just now come to even consider using Vortex and I'm shocked at the ability to detect and resolve conflicts built right into the main interface itself. This used to be something you could really only see with XEdit. Unfortunately as someone who is somewhat colorblind XEdit could be a challenge to use because I could not clearly see the faint red text coloring used to announce the conflicts. Vortex addresses that limitation in a sane way which is really appreciated.
I have been using nexus mod manager since 2018 and after getting a couple of mods I did not saw any mods I wanted so when nmm got outdated I kept using it because learning a new manager while my current mods works perfectly fine seemed dumb to me. But to my horror I recently found new mods I wanted so I took the leap and transfered the mods into vortex. To my horror the game crashes because vortex don't find skse but I managed to fix it. So at this point im annoyed at vortex for making me do something that just worked with nmm. So after making the game not crash because it don't recognise skse despite it being in the steam folder, some mods don't work because they are at the wrong order. Thanks to this helpful video I finally made this nightmare of a transfer end and now im back to relaxingly playing skyrim once more :D thank you very much mr Gopher.
Thank you for these videos! I finally installed Vortex and ported my Mods over. Even managed to get SKSE64 working with the new version of Skyrim SE. I like Vortex so far. The Lennard Let's Play has me itching to play Skyrim again.
I used MO for along time and i loved it... but Vortex made things for me much easier for me (but the first few conflicts i had with 3 or more files i fail to resolve them i keep doing loops XD)
Holy shit, This has cleared up so many issues i've been having after coming back to the game after 5 years and most of my mods had to be redone. I was just clicking suggested for all cause I didn't understand most of it and the game just wasn't working the way I wanted it.
Thank you so much I had no idea what to do! Once I knew that I could just right click on the arrows in the cycle diagram, it was easy to fix from there. Again, thank you so much.
i was here for the cycles but i stayed for the whole vid worth it i sorta know what im doing now i fixed like 60 cycles and conflcts and i fix it all thanks to you btw i have 460 mods for sse
Thank you for a great video Gopher, I use Vortex and without these videos to get me started with the program I would still be in the dark about the finer points to the software.
Sorry for asking and you've might have explained this already, but I've got 2 questions: What does the Green Lightning Bold mean? How to I know what mod I can drag to another to define dependency?
Gopher (or anyone who knows) - Vortex clearly offers some very powerful tools - I loved the advanced feature you touched on at the end… even so, I was wondering whether it allows one to hide files or folders? Hide ESPs (like for Bijinn all-in-one)? Or easily modify mod based INI or similar files like MO2? Gopher I would love a video with a short list of advanced features and demo of other advanced features.
Excellent work. Thank you for the continual education. 100 years from now they will show new modders this video when they ask how to mod their copy of Skyrim Century Edition.

Thank You. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
Your videos have been a huge help so far, but I'm a little stuck and eagerly awaiting the VORTEX - Beginner's Guide #6
Gopher, you are a godsend
Love this video, really helped me more dealing with vortex problems
Thank you for these videos.
I used MO for along time and i loved it... but Vortex made things for me much easier for me (but the first few conflicts i had with 3 or more files i fail to resolve them i keep doing loops XD)
your conflict with noble Skyrim is basically mine I'm having between noble and blended roads
3:04 gotta love how you say "Poppopbox" :)
Great Tutorial Bud , I hope you get more reconized by the modding teams
Thanks for the video. As a complete Noob to modding on PC, these are so helpful.
i was here for the cycles but i stayed for the whole vid worth it i sorta know what im doing now i fixed like 60 cycles and conflcts and i fix it all thanks to you btw i have 460 mods for sse
Thank You! I could not figure out why i was having mod cycles, but after watching this video i was able to solve it, Thank You!
Great information! I was wondering about conflicts among the internal files. Thanks.
Imagine getting Load orders and Conflicts fixed as a job. You would be good at it. Very Helpful vid!
Great playlist thank you
Thank you using these methods on fallout 4 on vortex, couldn't figure out how to do the rules cycles.
Thanks for the good videos, these are the best mod tutorails ive seen. Really good explaining! I would be lost without you haha
Thank you so much!
You're videos are always so helpful thank you for all you do :D
Thanks I got 20 mod cycle and now I flip them and the game works great
Gopher, God damn it you're a star!
Thank you for a great video Gopher, I use Vortex and without these videos to get me started with the program I would still be in the dark about the finer points to the software.
Sorry for asking and you've might have explained this already, but I've got 2 questions:
What does the Green Lightning Bold mean?
How to I know what mod I can drag to another to define dependency?
Gopher (or anyone who knows) - Vortex clearly offers some very powerful tools - I loved the advanced feature you touched on at the end… even so, I was wondering whether it allows one to hide files or folders? Hide ESPs (like for Bijinn all-in-one)? Or easily modify mod based INI or similar files like MO2?
Gopher I would love a video with a short list of advanced features and demo of other advanced features.
