  • I show you how I remove front wheel bearings from my sxe10 Altezza spindles.
The spindles/hubs are all the same from Altezza to Chaser so this applies to quite a few vehicles.
This video is just for disassembly.
I know a few of you are itching for more Kei car content. It's coming...
Trying to do one thing at a time rather than taking on too many cars at once like I have done in the past. I realize that not knowing what the next video will be on may be a draw card to tune in for each video for some people and maybe I'll do that once the Altezza is done.
In the meantime I have 100s of Kei videos with hardly any views. go check those out. comment on them and that will provide much needed motivation to continue making Kei content.

If you have access to an air chisel that can help you break the bearing race to get that off but honestly I forgot I had one...
The video link at the end is relevant so check that out if you haven't already seen it.
It tells the story of why there are so many Altezza videos from this channel recently.

You could use a pull hammer to get the hub off the spindle and avoid cutting up your dust shield.

We call it a slide hammer. I have one, I just never use it. For some reason I never think of it as an option... I believe you are right. Especially if the spindle is still on the car. On the ground I imagine the whole assembly bouncing around the back yard. 😂
I wonder if you could install the hub with the slide hammer too.... I don't think the dust shield will fit in my bearing press.

Hey Dave so I messaged you a little bit ago about my Altezza transmission that was stuck in reverse….finally got around to pulling it apart and the 5th/reverse shift fork had a peice broken off which was making it impossible to shift….ordered the parts and just waiting on them and hopefully be able to put it back together properly…..anyways thanks again for the content it was the deciding factor for me to choose the altezza as me new “fun” vehicle

Oh wow. I wonder how that happened.
Glad you found the problem. Hope it's all good after the rebuild!
      Thanks for watching

Thanks a lot for this video, very helpful. 4:15 What were you removing there? It must be a safer way to get / cut it off...
And just curious though why you call your flat head screw drivers "Wesley Snipes"?

I'm glad you liked the video. I was removing the inner bearing race.
That's the recommended way to get it off from quite a few OEM manufacturers. I always try a bearing puller first but none of mine would grab hold of that race.
The blade screwdriver is called Wesley Snipes because "Blade".

@@GarageKei Ah I see, cheers. Just wondering, will the new bearing race be already inside the new wheel bearing or do you need to buy them separately?
Ah ok, you call it a blade screw driver rather than flat head 🙃😝

    • @GarageKei
      @GarageKei  5 месяцев назад +2

Yea it's part of the bearing.
I call it a minus driver, a flat head, a blade screwdriver, Wesley, Snipes, Snipes driver... No discrimination. 😂

@@GarageKei Ah alright then, that's good to know.
No worries, and it's still quite odd and funny 😜

@@GarageKei I've done it with heat and some specialist pullers, but the reality is that bit never spins and it's going to be the next guys problem to take the bearing off again

I was just looking for the footage to make a bearingable video but it seems that's lost... There is no footage of me pressing the bearings or hub in...
Write off what footage I do have or make something a bit different... Dunno
