Tarikh is a daily program in which we present you with incidents and stories of noteworthy persons of Indian History in Hindi. In this edition of Tarikh, Astha talks about the Mizoram Peace Accord. The Mizo National Front was an organisation of Mizo secessionists led by Laldenga to fight for independence from India. The movement was basically due to lack of support from the government during the great famine (called Mautam) in Mizoram in the late 1950s. Political insurgency and social unrest ensued in the next decades. After a number of negotiations, the document titled Mizoram Accord, 1986: Memorandum of Settlement was finally signed on 30 June 1986. It was signed by Laldenga for MNF, R.D. Pradhan, Home Secretary, Government of India, and Lalkhama, Chief Secretary, Government of Mizoram. It is remarked as the most and only successful peace agreement in India after its independence from the British Empire in 1947. Watch Complete episode to know more

हा पता चला है तूने अभी अभी upsc की एक्ज़ाम क्रेक की है और अब देश का प्रधानमंत्री बनने वाला है। तेरे जैसे पढा लिखा इस देशमे कोई हो ही नही सकता, क्यों की इतिहास की किताब पढ़ कर ही तू दुनियामे आया है।
इतना इतिहास पढा मैंने, 1993 तक इतिहास एक विषय रहा, लेकिन मिज़ो संघर्ष किसी किताब में नहीं था। बाद में अखबारों में यदा कदा पढ़ने को मिला लेकिन इतनी डिटेल कहीं नहीं मिली जितनी आज के इस एक एपिसोड ने दे दी। वाह लल्लनटॉप
इंदिरा गांधी जैसी प्रधानमंत्री भारत को मिली भारत का सौभाग्य है उनकी कहानियां सुनकर सर फक्र से उठ जाता है और उनकी वीरता की गाथा सुनकर सर उनके चरणों में नतमस्तक हो जाता है हमें गर्व है उनके जैसे प्रधानमंत्री हमारे देश में हुई

Rajiv Gandhi the former PM signed a historical agreement with Mizo National Army (Front) in October 1986 and thus a permanent peace was restored. Since then Mizoram was made a separate State.

@Dragon "Vai Chhia" became prominent during the insurgency period. The numerous detentions, allegations of rape by the Indian Army sowed distrust and anger and even hate towards mainland Indians and gave currency to that term. We aren't Xenophobic, but we're definitely insecure about our small population (only 11 lakhs).
Thanks a lot for the history which most of the people don't know. That's why a couple of months ago someone said that India got independence in 2014. In earlier days politicians used to keep some important decisions secret on national interest. They did not like to highlight those to boost their image on public eyes.

The Indian government should understand the causes of insurgencies in the Northeast. It is the inability of the Indian government to build trust, its inability to protect its languages, traditions and cultures, lack of development and education, neglect of the interests of indigenous peoples.

In Tripura, Bangalis, especially migrants from Bangladesh, form more than 70% of Tripura's population now. The original tribal inhabitants and the indigenous Kokborok language have been reduced to a minority.
Our identity and self-image has been robbed of status and dignity in our own native soil.
(If CAA is implemented in Tripura then our existence will surely become extinct)

(Before independence of India, most of the population was indigenous.Since the partition of India, many Bengali Hindus have migrated to Tripura (princely state at that time) as refugees fleeing religious persecution in Muslim-majority East Pakistan, especially after 1949)
Many tourists even Indians from the other regions have this misconception that Tripura is a Bengali state . And apparently there are reasons for that misconception, such as the disproportionate representation of indigenous tribes in government. It is very difficult for an indigenous tribe to reach any high political and administrative positions. And just recently CBSE included Kokborok as school syllabus but in Bengali script.
And as a result there is a high growing demand for a separate state, (Greater) Tipraland (land of Tiprasa) among indigenous communities.
Hope soon the current govt. Will adress this. Also wanna see an episode on this as u said. And many other channels sud also notice this topic & cover this.
Each state is diff & must be treated differently.

Both are non-hindues dominated area.
Mizoram are Christian dominated & Kashmir Valley are Muslim dominated area.
Dono ne hi India se alag hokar separate country ke liye violence kiya.
