- IZANAGI (伊弉諾 / イザナギ ) is the male counterpart and older brother of Izanami and is a creation god in Japanese mythology. In the act of giving birth to the fire god, Kagutsuchi, Izanami was fatally burned and went to Yomi, the land of darkness. After failed attempts to bring Izanami back to life, Izanagi bathed in the sea to purify himself from the dead. As doing that, the Sun goddess Amaterasu was born from his left eye, the Moon god Tsukiyomi was born from his right eye, and the Storm god Susano'o was born from his nose.
