I have never been to England, but I do spend a lot of time there in my mind . I love reading magazines and watching fine programs like this about steam. Sure we have Big Boy here back in steam which is great, but British steam locomotives are extremely appealing to the steam purist. After all Britain is the birthplace for steam. Aside from the typical American mindset having been even more warped with "Thomas", the variety of different types of steam in the U.K. is nothing short of amazing. I find British vintage locomotives of all types bring coziness and nostalgia for an era that I can only read about. But in today's insane world, it's a very fine place to be. Cheers from this side of the pond.

As an American myself, I really appreciate their sense of balance between aesthetic beauty and functional purpose. And I also respect your understanding that bigger is not necessarily better lol. You can apply this not only to their Railway engines but also to car culture.

I grew up in Coughton station; converted by my parents and now live in Redditch. My father had spotted the derelict station on an SLS railtour and asked BR if he could buy it!!
Great to see this; thank you.

I was born in Evesham and this is the only footage I have been able to find that shows the old LMS station in operation. Great stuff.

I used to travel from Redditch to Evesham on the line shown here,to visit my gran and aunt it was in the 50's with my mother.I remember the traction engines at Broom also the steam rollers that were parked up by the side of the track there. The line has now gone but if they have had of kept it going till today it would be paying for itself with all the new building that has gone on in Redditch Evesham etc.People would be able to use it for comuting to work with park and ride at those little stations along the line, getting cars off the road.Short sitedness by the powers that be all those years ago.A great film brought back many memories to me when i used this line.

Duncan Roberts unfortunately they were shortsighted Basterds didn't give a shit about the people there rather disdroy everything then keep it for future generations. And now with all the emigration coming into the country all the lines would have been PROFITABLE.and its Hart breaking seeing all those beautiful stations closing down its a bloody shame .
