Thanks, Mike. I'm a super conservative (retired) investor with no corporate pension plan, only my own personal investments, and over the past 9 months I've allocated 60% of our portfolio into fixed income. As each CD matures and each Preferred is called I've been dabbling my toes in the water and buying a few equities here, some high-yield ETFs there, and re-investing remaining cash into a money market account because I've been waiting for the Day of the Big Drop. September and early October have historically been great times to buy, as the market goes down. It is very encouraging for you to give me "permission" to not go all in, but to do it by 1/3. I like that approach and I'm more comfortable with that. I'll be going in with my first 1/3 over the next 4-5 weeks.
If you went into fixed income, maybe it’s the right asset allocation? I mean, if you do not want major fluctuations in your portfolio, you don’t have to invest all your money in equities either. It’s more important that you sleep better at night.
Amazing timing Mike! I joined DSR in late Dec 2023 and after dyi investing in my TFSA for the last 9 months, I've taken the move to cash out my one of my mutual funds and will be receiving my RRIF cash in my account in the next few days! I am very excited and have been planning my portfolio using DSR. I love being able to create portfolios benefitting from all the metrics and info DSR provides. I am far from having your knowledge but have learnt so much from you over the past 9 months! Thank you for helping me to get to this place. I am much older than you but I know I am taking the right path for me! This video encourages me greatly as next week I start investing!! There's alot to think about with the coming US rate cuts and screams of a recession (I know you've been calling it for quite awhile) but I know I will be investing in solid companies and that gives me the confidence to move forward! Merci beaucoup!
Hello Maryanne! I'm glad we can help :-). Next week, I'll discuss how I would build my portfolio if I was about to retire today :-). cheers!
@@DividendGuy Merci Mike! I look forward to hearing about it!!
I liked your video. I am not sure that title represents your investment style. It doesn't really matter if you are starting a porfolio now. Buy good dividend growth with strong cash flow and hold for the very long term.
Great video Mike. I agree with being able to sleep at night is the most important thing. The screener works very well for me.
It’s always the best strategy 😁
Merci Mike!
my daughter starts this week..great timng.
That's awesome! It's great that you can accompany her in this journey! Let me know if I can help.
@@DividendGuy Thanks for the offer, how to reach out to you? I'm thinking a mix of retirement and non sheltered investments. Why? She is a dual citizen of USA.
@@danbarrett6387 send me an email using the contact form on dividendstocksrock.com. I won't be able to give financial advice or buy/sell recommendation, though. thx!
Salut Patrick! Nice pour le marathon! Je suis un courreur egalement! Oui, tu peux vois mon portefeuille a jour tous les mois sur thedividendguyblog.com. Au plaisir!
Personally, I’ll go with XEQT for most of my portfolio and a smaller portion for dividend growers.
Amazing video as usual.
If you don't want to invest in individual stocks, investing in a broad ETF like XEQT is a great strategy. Simple, complete, low fee and it will help you get to your goal for sure! cheers!
St this point. I consider every youtube comments as scam.
How come we can't see all comments only top and newest.?
I see all comments on my side. I'm not sure why you can't see them. I haven't changed any settings
Smooth CEO talk for 12 minutes or so, and nothing helpful.
agreed. I was expecting him to build a portfolio with different stocks. lol
Why would they be different? That would not make sense to buy something different today and not do it in the real life. If I wish I had a stock, I make room for it in my portfolio now.
I’m genuinely curious: what would have been helpful, what were you looking for when you started watching?
@@DividendGuy what I was expecting from the video - a hypothetical portfolio with stocks if you had to start from scratch today. Instead you talked mainly about theory & philosophy behind buying a stock
@@Zizu342 I understand. If I had to start from scratch today, I would replicate my portfolio. The only difference is that I would start it equally weighted. I wouldn't change anything else because this is how I manage my portfolio already: If I like a new company, I make room for it in my portfolio if it makes sense. Therefore, I always have the portfolio I would like to have 🙂
Sadly, this video made me unsubscribe from the channel. 13 minutes of self promotion
I’m sorry you feel that way. I simply explain how I invest to help people with an example. If you don’t like dividend growth investing, it’s all good. I wish you the best in your investment journey.
