Perfect for the Christmas season! I came up with a little story in my head from listening to it multiple times, so let's see if I can share it: 0:00 The figure slowly treks across the sands, passing by the sparse, leaning lights as snow flutters down and motes of light drift through the sky. 1:04 The figure reaches the rocks and begins the ascent, following the tortuous path laid out by light. 2:07 They reach the base of the tower and go inside. It is an empty place carved of stone, yet filled with a warm, flickering light. 2:23 They find stairs and starting climbing through the cavernous place, shadows of life around every corner, echoes of long-lost revelry sounding through the halls. Every so often they pass by a window and see glimpses of the rocks, sands, and innumerable lights. 3:00 The stairs end, and the figure quests outward. 3:20 The figure exits onto a grand terrace. On the left side, the path they traveled to reach the tower seems small now; on the right, an endless ocean stretches into the distance. To the front, the land and the ocean meet. Eventually, they turn and resume their search for a way up. 4:00 After climbing further, a hallway bends towards a light of great intensity. The figure moves down it. 4:10 They climb a short ramp and reach the source of the light. An enormous ball of fire burns in a natural draft, casting light from the open top of the tower out into the misty darkness. 4:24 The figure pulls a darkened, hand-held lamp from their cloak and hold it up towards the silent ball of fire. Spirals of flame drift down and enter the lamp, filling it with radiance, as flecks of light split off and swirl around the figure. 4:40 The figure, their lamp burning with inexhaustible flame, looks out over the ocean, vague shapes surfacing within the fog as the figure is backlit by the flame behind them. 4:54 They return the way they came, descending the tower and the mountain, then crossing the sands with their lantern held out. As they pass by extinguished lamp posts, tiny tendrils of flame split off from their lantern and reignite them.
The brass felt so homey honestly. Really loved that section a lot even though im a big strings fan. Thank you Rush, for bringing us another great delight before the end of the year~ 💖💖💖
(One hour late! Spent it with Family though, so its all fine.) Trombone kicks ass, that was awesome to hear you play again. What a wonderful piece to enjoy on a night like tonight. Wishing a very Merry Christmas to anyone who reads this and to you Rush. I may be an internet nobody, but I'm an internet nobody who believes in you wherever you may be. Go be good humans this holiday season :D
OMG HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE also thanks so much for another masterpiece for us to listen to, loved the contrast between the different segments, brass section at 2:20 was realllLLY GOOD
When ever i see a new soundtrack from you specially a sketch. start when i have a quiet moment. just it there an listen to what your music is telling me for a story. this time it told me to look back on the year look to myself an enjoy e journey again. this is truly something that leaves emotions and takes you to a tour around the hole world. i was feeling i did fly over the hole globe to see all the lights on, to hear all the bells ring. what wounder full composition. thank you to give us a sound wonderfully fitting for this time of the year. i hope you are doing well. keep on!
What a coldly beautiful piece. An art that has given a new perspective. And with this theres something new that should be spread. Thank you for the surprising inspiration. One that won't be left forgotten in the years to come.
wait no way!! Bells and lights was one of the first pieces I heard of yours way back when. Cannot believe this! I remember forcing my trombone player to learn the solo in there
Merry Christmas, Rush. Thank you for all the great music. Your music has a special place in my heart as it's been with me since I started college over four years ago. Thanks again and Merry Christmas.
Beautifully done! Thank you for all of your hard work and for sharing these amazing songs. I hope you have an incredible Christmas and a wonderful new year.
Thank you, Rush, for the upload. It's exactly what I wanted for Christmas this year. More wonderful music~ Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to one and all :D
What is the similarity between lights and sound? The closer you get, the more of it you will perceive. On a side note: The bells sound cool while working with the artwork to flesh-out the winter-vibe. The sleigh bells jingling through the wind... Anticipation. The first time I saw snow, It triggered an unfounded excitement within me. The sounds of windchimes clanging in the gentle breeze... Serenity. At the end of a snowy day, nothing beats sleeping by a warm fire/heater.
Day 900 of asking for kwento 2. Merry Christmas Rush! “It’s getting colder” holds a really special place in my heart, which is why I’ve been asking for kwento 2. Hope life is treating ya well!
A beacon for the lost in the aurora realm A wayward soul approaching a city of bells and lights The question here Is will they find a home here to love and cherish?
you are the one of the few artist in my opinion that to express own story in extrordinary way with deep expression and incredible technical arrangement, and the things that I know you are the one , are that everytime I will cry instantly when I hear the music because of the feels :beauty of the humanity and connection to your own experiences ;and I just Know it by my heart. Thanks man, "humans are ordinary but the arts made by humans aren't" (btw what software do you use to make music,I wanna try Cubase after using Musescore and Fl studio for concert band or orchestra arrangement in future)
Cubase if U need time coding for scoring to picture. Otherwise it's frustratingly hard to learn. Your sounds will come the plugins you go out of your way to find. The DAW matters less than your plugins and libraries.

very Zimmer with the strings
Like it a lot
I would unironically love it if you kept revisting your older themes, or reused some as leitmotifs
