Between the ebony fretboard, the rotary truss adjustment, locking tuners, and roasted maple neck; this is the BEST strat style guitar I've ever seen at a reasonable price. It's gorgeous! I'm getting mine in Atomic Green.
I was actually the same... when I was speaking with the guys at Schecter about demoing this guitar I actually wanted the HSS version, but in pink... but they didn't have the HSS in stock in this colour, only the SSS, so I went with it and instantly fell in love! I've had this guitar for 2 years now and it's still my go to Strat style for everything.
I have been a life long Strat player. I usually mod the Floyd equipped Fenders to a single humbucker, single volume EVH layout. I also love the traditional 3 single coil Strats. My first guitar was a Strat copy by Hondo. I have been looking at a Fender Player Series Strat with 3 single coil pickups as I already own a modded Fender Player series with Floyd Rose and love it. After seeing, hearing and playing this Schecter Nick Johnston sss model I'd rather have it than the Fender. It feels and sou ds amazing. You get more guitar for the price imo.
@@calvinevans6347 My fiance just ordered me one for a belated birthday gift. She was dead set on the pink finish. Lol! If I had the cash I'd buy yours too. Sorry brother.
@@roosterj2599 It's all good bro. After I bought mine, I regretted not getting the pink one, but since then, I bought a flamingo pink MIJ strat. Well, I hope you enjoy yours!!!
VIctor! Thank you man, I really apprecaite that. Pushing it is all part of the fun right? It'll be fun to see where we all are this time next year. This time last year I had about 100 subs!
Yeah that's a nice plus, it makes it a little easier for gigging too, I find when I gig with a Strat, I hit the volume knob a lot while strumming, but this being slightly further away makes it less of a risk! The single coils on this handle a lot, even when you crank the gain, they get pretty fat. They can be noisy under high gain, but all single coils can.
@@LeighFugeGuitar man, I'm really startin' to dig that coral color. lol. Never had a "pink guitar". Never bought a shell pink strat. So, this might b my first pink guitar. seriously looking at one right now. I just love my Schecters so, this one can't be all that bad.
Schecter always delivers quality guitars at a much lower price point than alot of other companies. I just got a schecter c1 sls evil twin with active Fishman pups for 1100$... that thing is fucken amazing!!!
Yeah man absolutely! Schecter make some amazing guitars for so much less than some big brands. It's proof that you don't need to spend mega bucks to get a great guitar anymore.
It's a fantastic guitar. To be honest, I don't know. I haven't played any of the newer Fender range for a long time so I don't really know what they're putting out these days. You wouldn't get a Fender with this guitars spec/feel for anywhere less than £1500 though I'd imagine.
Hey Benten, I’ve not noticed it being louder than any other Strat style guitar, the pickups seem about as prone to hum as any other set of single coils. Are you sitting close to your amp? Or near a PC?
Oh man, tough one... the NJ is killer, I love my NJ. I haven't played the HSS one, but its exactly the same guitar, just with a humbucker. They didn't change any of the spec. The PRS SE Silver Sky apparently is a very unique feeling guitar, but I haven't personally played one.
Would you say this guitar is better for lead rather than rhythm, given the flatter radius? I'm concerned that chording would be more difficult. By no means am I a lead player and the fast neck is not a factor for me.
It's a pretty good allrounder to be honest. I use this a lot on tour and spend most of the night playing rhythms on it with a few leads. It's one of my favourite gigging guitars and very reliable and dependable
Yup. I have 23 guitars. Most over $2k. I don’t own any cheap electrics. I had to purchase at that price. I e always been a sucker for pink guitars….lol
I've been looking for a reason to buy this guitar and I just found it. That is not the face of someone who isn't enjoying what they are playing. 30 years of playing and never owned a strat, now I want one but I want something a lil different. I've looked at (and played) the G&L and music man. Both great guitars but still wanted something a lil more off the beaten path. This thing has all the sounds you expect from something that has that look but a little more rounded sounding if that makes sense. Great video, I'll sub to keep watching these videos.
Oh man, thank you so much for the kind words and thanks for taking the time to check out the video and comment! I love this guitar, it's such a fun and inspiring guitar to play. You're spot on, it's clearly Strat based, but it has a slightly more modern twist to it. The pickups are a touch hotter than a typical Strat set too so with the tone rolled off a touch you can almost get some fatter P90 style tones too. The neck is fantastic on this too, it's my favourite part of the guitar! It's so comfortable and easy to play. Plus.... THE COLOUR! I hardly put this guitar down!
Hey man! It's very, very comfortable. It slants slightly so it's easy to get to the higher frets. It's one of the most comfortable necks I've played in a long time.
@@LeighFugeGuitar Thanks - I did. It arrives tomorrow. I've been on a bit of a guitar buying spree lately so I was hoping to hold off for a while but I put it on my Reverb "watch" list and the seller sent me an offer. I got them down to $660. I recently got a Schecter Reaper, and the quality is just outstanding. I've wanted a Strat for a while now, and I couldn't see spending $2K on a Fender Ultra when I can get something that probably sounds and plays better (and has locking tuners) for 1/3 the price.
@@CarlitoM77 I like it. For the $660 I paid, I think it's a good value. The pros: it plays well and sounds good right out of the box with no setup. The locking tuners are awesome and they make string changes fast and super easy. The cons: I've found the tuning stability to be less than perfect. Looks-wise it's just OK - the blue is very light (I'd probably go for orange or green if I did it again). On low-humidity days I get static electricity buildup that affects the middle pickup and causes it to click whenever it's touched (apparently this can happen with strat-type guitars that lack copper shielding on the electronics and have one-ply pickguards). Mine also came with a slight blemish on the headstock - not a huge deal but it will affect resale value if I ever sell it. So, overall I'm like it but I'm not in love with it. I think Schecter makes great guitars though - I think I got a little unlucky with the particular unit I received. I might eventually upgrade some components. Also, I'm going to do some setup work next time I change strings - I think that will improve playability, tuning stability and intonation. Re the HSS v SSS, as I saw it, since they're priced the same and you can split the humbucker coils, the HSS was the way to go - basically an add-on feature at no extra cost. I know that splitting coils is technically not the same as having a single coil pickup, but I doubt that I could tell much difference between the sound of the two. I also generally like single coils in the neck and middle rather than bridge anyway, so for me that was an easy call.
I really hate it when you say it is a great guitar "For The Money". What are you saying? What does that even mean? If it's a great guitar, then it's a great guitar. Don't confuse the opinion by adding "For The Money".
It means what it means. It's a great guitar that doesn't cost a fortune. I know you understand it, and the concept of "if its good then its good" is a good sentiment. BUT there are loads of guitar players who look at price tags as a marker of quality. I know plenty of people personally who would never even entertain the idea of playing a guitar under £2000 that wasn't US made or whatever. They're missing out on some incredible instruments! I want people to see that you don't have to spend a fortune to get a great playing guitar.
