DIY Tool Handles on a CNC Router

- In this video, I'm making a custom set of tool handles for my printmaking tools. In the future, I'd love to also make the metal portions, but this is a start! Let me know what you think!
I used Bolivian Rosewood pen blanks for the handles and salvaged the tool heads from my old printmaking tools. The jig I made was 3D printed on my LulzBot mini printer, and I used Matterhackers Tough PLA filament.
This CNC machine is no longer produced, but you can find many variations of the machine often called 3040t, although the quality of reliability varies across venders.
All my modeling and CAM are done in Fusion 360 (free for most people), and the CNC itself runs off of Mach3 (not free).

While this is an interesting build, I cant help but think this is a LOT of work on a cnc, 3d printer, creating models, etc for something you could turn on a wood lathe.
Oh you're absolutely right, if I had a lathe, that'd be the way to go. The point of the jigs and all the steps is I can now make whatever I want with the huge selection of pen blanks going forward, and I have a good way to hold them. I have about 20 more tools I want to make. Thanks for checking out the video!
