    I'd like to try one of these, but I fell in love with this Japanese cast iron pan from a company called Oigen. It's really a Dutch oven but is also a Bundt pan and is designed to bake a loaf on the stovetop. I used it alongside the Lodge cast iron bread pan with the same recipe and the one cooked in the Oigen was more moist. In fact, I'm baking one right now on this rainy Arkansas January. You should really get your hands on some Nanbu Tekki! It's amazing.

    That was a high end grocery store loaf or small bakery Quality looking loaf!!! definitely getting one of these

    I purchased the Challenger Bread Pan ten days ago and am waiting for my sourdough starter to mature in another week. In the meantime, I could make something in the next day.

    Where to get the oven mitts? Most are too small and fumbly. Where to get the better designed old style Challenger bread pan with the top mounted angled handles? Thanks

      @@mydiscoverydays Thanks very much for taking the time to respond to my question about the oven mitts. Much appreciated. If perhaps you discover a Challenger bread pan with the old design handles (situated high up on the dome at angles), please let me know. (The change in design they made seems LESS convenient. Also the new version is two pounds lighter weight, which probably doesn't help heat retention etc. The original version is better I believe.)

    Was there a reason you didn’t place the pan onto the inverted top for the 2nd half of your bake?

      Yes I use the top inverter on the bench top to dry out the banneton, also I find it a fiddle to put the top back in the oven under the base as they are both really hot.

    I’ve bought the challenger bread pan and the results are incredible. Only problem it’s too heavy to lift so what do you think it would happen if I put in the oven to preheat only the bottom of the pan and I place the top only after the preheat is done?

    Your timing and temperature is that fan oven or standard oven

      It's on fan, but I'm sure just having it on bake would be fine, it's the only setting on our oven. It's 20 mins at 235C and 20 mins at 200C with the lid off.

      If you let me know the internal size of your oven i will measure up the Challenger bread pan and see if it fits fro you.
