It's been almost 5 years since Persona 5 released in English, and many fans are hoping that Persona 6 will be one of Atlus's 25th anniversary announcements later this year. It's never too late to dream or speculate, so in this video I talk about what I'm personally hoping for from Persona 6. Let me know what you all hope for in the comments.

I think it’s weird how character birthdays aren’t celebrated in game considering the whole calendar system being a central aspect. Though I get it may be because people do different things on the same days so the game has to account for it. But even a small throwaway line like damn Ryuji it’s your birthday today nice or something would be cool.

    • @CaptainObliviousV
      @CaptainObliviousV 2 года назад +234

I could see this working as sort of a “catch up” mechanic. If you’ve been neglecting a social link or just want to speed up progression, if you decide to get them a gift and spend time to celebrate their birthday with them, it will automatically boost the link’s experience to the next progression point. This could help save a lot of time and allow you to temporarily focus on other links and also incentivize interacting with links you’d otherwise put on the back burner for the sake of a potential guaranteed fusion exp boost and link bonus. Party members would be a bit wierd though since their birthdays would probably need to be after they join unless their link’s are independent of party status.

If I may throw my two cents into the ring, the reason we don't have deeper protagonist customization like hairstyles, clothes, ect., or why Persona 4 G and 5R didn't include FeMC's may be because of the Hand Drawn Anime cutscenes. Those are already pretty high budget and probably pretty expensive, so having to animate two protagonists for those would just be adding am extra layer of work, especially for complex ones like Joker's Awakening.
The Persona P3P had a FeMC was because they had to completely cut the free roam in Tatsumi Port island and all the anime cutscenes to fit the game onto the PSP, so they were able to wiggle in the FeMC as a way to make up for it, since almost the entire game outside of Tartarus was just text portraits and such. There weren't any cutscenes to worry about in P3P, but for P4G and P5R, that would have been a lot harder to pull off.
I'm not against having a FeMC option either, I'd be totally down for that, but I did want to take a guess at why P4G and P5R didn't include one. That's also probably why Kasumi didn't join you until Royal's extra dungeon, because they would've had to reanimate and re-write a bunch of the scenes for the end of Vanilla P5 to fit her in.

    • @megasoniczx6960
      @megasoniczx6960 2 года назад +116

I mean to be fair, if Fire Emblem has taught us anything, they'll just keep marketing the default avatar anyways. Look at Robin and Corrin, every piece of extended FE media they appear in, and even Smash, only uses the default designs for both of them, so even if Persona 6 did have those deeper customization options, there would still be a single set "default design" used in all the spin-off media anyways.
And that isn't even getting into how the Wild Card's are their own characters. They have personality all their own, their own name, something reinforced by spinoff games and the anime's, and so it makes sense they have a single appearance. Sure, you can influence their personality and actions, but they aren't blank self inserts.

From a gameplay perspective I would love if the series dropped the Game Over if the protag dies and instead go back to the Game Over if the party is wiped out like how it used to be in P1 and 2. From a purely gameplay perspective it really makes no sense for this to be a thing considering you control the entire party (P3 being the sole exception to this, and the only place where the protag dyeing means Game Over makes sense). From a narrative perspective it also doesn't really work since the games beat you over the head with the idea that (to steal a line from KH) "My friends are my power", yet none of my "friends" have the decency to throw a revival bead in my direction when I get my shit rocked.
In regards to S.Links I just wish they wouldn't feel like the exist in a vacuum. I feel like P4 and 5 just offloaded all the character development into the S.Links. This leads to situations where it feels like the characters aren't growing naturally with the story and at worst outright contradict themselves between the main plot and there S.Link
I fully agree with the idea that Atlus needs to stop adding new characters late into the game. I think one of the reasons the P2IS and EP casts are so beloved by those who have played the games is because you spent the entire game with them; you meet all your party members within the first hour or so of the games. So either Atlus needs to reduce the number of party members in the game or just introduce them a lot earlier.

Cutscenes can be avoided for the real world if they stick the default outfit for events only..
      for example, from p4..
The important prologue parts, going to the tv world, School, Beach events, School Fest, Skiing, Inn, etc..
They could lock the outfits during these events into the default ones..
But outside of that, like after school, Social Links time, exploring, etc, gives the options to change our appearance..
The hair shapes could be altered as well, as long as not changing the colour or length.. perhaps ponytail tie, twin tails, side swept, slick back, etc..
The ones that cannot be changes are the physics, Face Shape and Body Shape..

I highly agree with most gameplay suggestions, especially the wild card one. One thing that I really wish other modern games learned from p3 is the fact you don't need max social link with a party member for them to awaken to their ultimate persona. Story associated awakening is WAY more impactful than max social link awakening.
Also I really wish they decentralized the protagonist a bit more, party members are constantly saying how important you are, how much stronger you are, and I feel that's a bit too much. At least in p3 it felt like you were introduced into a world that already existed, in p4 and p5 it feels like you ARE the whole world.
Another thing I highly prefer in p3 (I really love p3) is that party members have development without the protagonist on screen! They even have interactions with other party members without the need of a protagonist to be in the middle. The relationship between Yukari and Mitsuru is super well done and it feels real because it really changes over time, while in p5 I don't even remember if Haru interacted with Yusuke, and if that interaction was just their stereotypes interacting, not their whole character.

    • @TyRendition

Agreed, P4 and P5 for some reason they make it seem like the party members can only function with you around. It was also impactful when mitsuru and akhiko joined your party later because they are veterans at destroying shadows compared to you

    • @SpicyButterflyWings
      @SpicyButterflyWings 2 года назад +27

I 100% agree with you on the ultimate persona awakenings, I think P3 did them the best. It really worked because characters didn't have an arc that only lasted for the approximate month that it took to beat their associated dungeon and their (ultimately optional) social link. Character development in P3 persisted throughout the story, even after the awakenings, and that made each individual's change and resolve all the more meaningful. Shoving half of a character's arc away in a social link is inherently less effective because social links themselves are branded as being for the MC's benefit; you rank them up for the purpose of fusing stronger personas and getting extra perks. I can't speak for everyone but I pretty much never pursued a social link because I was "riveted" with the sidestory, it was a transactional investment first and foremost.
Of course, storyline awakenings are only impactful if the build up to them is done well. The development has to be realistic and quantifiable without feeling shallow. Otherwise the awakening, and therefore the resolution, feel undeserved.

I had this spontaneous idea from a video for a game function. What if, after school, you made plans with your friends and you could run around with them as if you were in a palace and go hang out with them? It would be like group confidant activities.
You could do an activity with them like studying or burger challenge and it would make that activity more beneficial for your stats and maybe increase your bonds. But you can’t level them up. They just get closer to leveling up for the next time you hang out with them one-on-one.
You have to pick people based on the activity you’re doing. Intelligent confidants will increase stats by studying. Others will increase more when going out shopping or eating.
But you can’t blow them off and ditch them to do something else and you can’t decide to explore a dungeon or their social link will drop.

For combat they should split physical damage to slashing and crushing and keep gun also they should add another element, name it earth or toxic and make it so that every persona before the last dungeon has some weaknesses - this in combination with lower number on personas on the protagonist would make party members feel more usefull. Make days have 3 parts - you would be able to work on a socila link, your stats or metaverse exploration, so you could do more on days without school. 2. Not having all party members ready to go to the meteverse all of the time - this would make you think more before doing side quests, mini bosses and bosses. This could be made even crazier if you are in a college setting and you & party members have courses on diferent schedules and you can miss only a few of them... 3. Have a bigger team and have few of them decide to go evil and abuse the metaverse after the big bad is defeated with an option for protagonist to side with them.

If the cast would be expanded, why not add a 5th member to certain battles (Ex: Tartarus floor bosses and Full moon arcanas) but still having to use 4 members in regular battles so you have to rotate members and not focus on some builds. And for a merciless mode make regular battles use 3 members and bosses use 4, the same rotation logic but more strategic. Plus, like in Persona 3 battle with Hierophant, having to use some members ins specific bosses, or viceversa, in some bosses having some members restricted from battle, mainly the ones you use more (Based on EXP level) so you have to design some strategies and not stick with just one.
Also make a return for the split up mechanic.

I want a mix of teens and adults again (possibly a university setting). I think there's plenty of routes to take a story that explores the human condition without it being a coming of age story set against high school like the neo-Personas have done. Also a tone more akin to Persona 3 in terms of how the atmosphere and narrative is approached. It balanced levity with darker and more serious topics extremely well. I get that Persona 4 was more laid back due to the countryside setting and cast of characters, but I think Persona 3 did a better job in terms of balancing the more chilled out and intimate cast-bonding moments, with the grander scope and darker undertones of its narrative
It'd also be really cool if they made the villains rival Persona users since Strega was a massive missed opportunity in P3 imo

I have these Persona game concept, in which the game starts at half the year o third grade in high school, and it ends in half the first year in Uni, and the game is about the pressure of students to get to a good Uni and get a good career, something really hard for an at most 17-18 yo person, what i had intended is that the MC fails to get into Uni but instead of getting depressed or just giving up, he gets a part time job for the time, and studies to try to get to Uni next year, then on his/her new job, he/she would meet the last party member the shop 40+ yo manager that also failed to get to Uni but he just gave up and just started to work on that shop and never tried to do something, else always grumpy and unmotivated with a really pessimistic look on life.
Then the other characters would be a mixed of classic students with problems related to school, there's going to be the guy that's really talented i HS with perfect grades and get to a good Uni but in Uni he's just failing every class even if he's still giving his all, there's the dumb one that undertands that she can do good if she proposes it, and so on, there's 2 charactes thar are kind of the norm, first is a girls that has literally no problem at all in terms of school life, has good grades, not the best but good enough, knows what she wants to do and what carrer she wants, get to Uni and is doing well there pretty much a normie, and also i theorized about this girl that her family recently move to Japan from Denmark, and it's struggling for the reasons of how different the school system is, that she hasn't mastered the language and the bullie that happens based on that and for standing our just by being really different, in my concept she joins the party when the group finds her crying because they fin her crying for the bully and because the school authorities want to force her to dye her natural blonde hair, why Danish, i dunno it just ended up like that.
I actully have the whole plot planned and stuff i just haven't fully written it.

  • @banyamano010
    @banyamano010 2 года назад +66

While I agree with the sentiments of this video, I hope some of these implementations don't go too far off the deep end. For example, it would make sense if some characters gave you the cold shoulder for a friend zone, but it would be unrealistic to make EVERY girl give the cold shoulder to you because you didn't want to be romantically involved. As far as the idea for replayability goes, similarly, if it shuffles your arcana or lock a few it'd be fine, but if it straight up makes it impossible to complete every arcana on a single run, it makes the already sometimes tedious NG+ play through now required to experience all the content. The reason why for example in P4(G) the Sun and Power Arcana allowed for replayability is because the characters are unique with their storyline and personality, but won't result in someone who finished Ayane's Social Link feel as if they completely missed out on a character, because Yumi has a similar arc. This also means Atlus would be wasting time and resources on making characters that not everyone would experience. While this adds to more player agency, it also leads to more mediocre characters(see persona 4, I love the game but Sun/Power arcana were much more lackluster than the rest). Last but not least, as far as personas go, personally I think a better idea is to do what they've already been doing but add more customisation options(maybe let skill cards be used on party members as well), because in my experience, my party members do a lot more than my MC, or at least pull their weight. Things like Ann/Ryuji's party wide concentrate/charge and abilities like this are imperative to my end game strategy. On the other hand, Yukiko in Golden straight up carries my team with Mind Charge Flaming Petals. This is just my opinion though, as far as I'm concerned, when Atlus makes Persona 6, as long as it keeps up or improves on the quality of Persona 5, I see no issue :)

Booo no I HATE the dumb customization thing that people get so obsessed over every time. You get a subpar design when they do that I love the look of the nahobino from the new SMT V game and the simple but effective design of joker. • @matchanavi
    @matchanavi 2 года назад +120

I think the problem with locking out stuff, isn't just because fans are completionists. The game is extremely long and having to go through it again is gonna be a slog, especially if it's something small like having one different social link (people would just look it up on youtube).
Only way I'd justify it is if you make the story branch out around the middle so that it's an entirely new experience if you make certain choices. It doesn't have to be a whole tree of branches but it just needs to be significant and early enough, to motivate a replay.
Even replaying an SMT game can be really boring if all you want is just the different ending, and those are usually half or one third as long as a Persona game.

One thing that wasn't mentioned in this video that I'd love to see is more minigames in the same style of the Yakuza series. I believe there's already a darts game in 5, but to expand on this and be able to do things like play 8-ball, bowling, golf and baseball in batting cages would be great, especially if you can invite characters from maxxed out social links to play with you. Karaoke would be amazing considering it'd be almost the same as the dancing games, just with original music made specifically for karaoke.

One thing I would love to see although I see it as highly unlikely is for social links to advance without that annoying experience system. It makes it very annoying imo and doesnt make a lot of sense to me. Maybe they could do something like after getting a rank with a S.link you have to wait 3 days before the next one so you cant get a link to 10 in just 10-12 days

Watching this after the announcement of Persona 5 X for cellphones 😅 clearly Altus and Sega is not done with their cash cow. Beginning to feel lactose intolerant with this haha.
As for ideas for Persona 6, I want to see something more like Persona 2, with characters in university and even folks already done school and working professionally. Having older and more mature characters will allow for exploration of darker themes. So the player would get to experience the struggles of the adult NPCs visiting Chihaya in P5. Now that being said, it leads to the idea for an overall theme for the game. I would love to see a cast of characters struggling to move forward in life due to some past trauma or some high stakes life event gone wrong. With this kind of suffering the cast will kind of be stuck in the past mentally, yearning for the "good old days". So, with that mind, each main character would manifest these thoughts into the dungeons, which will consist of liminal spaces, like dead malls, empty office buildings, brightly coloured amusement parks, something that the cast is nostalgic about. Finishing the dungeon will let them move forward in life and awaken their persona. That's just something I have been pondering about for a bit lol, nothing is completely fleshed out!!
As for social links, I love the idea of having people treat you differently depending on who you hang out with, because, yes, it's typically how it works in real life. I always got weirded out with how the MC is loved by their friends no matter what - something unsettling about that. And having multiple social links under the same arcana is a great idea! I want to push this even further, so say if the player completes 2 socials with the emperor Arcana, the persona of that arcana would get a +2, and greatly increased stat mods.
I would also like to have the player do a tiny more in a day. Maybe do some kind of action point system, the player would have say, 6 action points in a day - doing activities and hanging out with people will deplete those points, having no more points will end the day.
So for the battle system, the character to start the battle should always be at random, I feel like I am done most of the work if I start first. I'd like persona 6 to keep social link abilities for battle. It was a good system. And to push this concept further, I would like to see demon negotiation affinity bonuses based on social link levels, so if you're high up there with the lovers arcana, demons with that arcana would be easier to converse with.
Another thing I'd like to see is LESS TEXT MESSAGES, it drove me batty with the constant texting in Persona 5 - people need to leave me alone for one day, please!!! Texting in Persona 6 is fine, but maybe 1/4 the amount of P5. Conversing with other characters doesn't have to be a gimmick. If something different has to happen, maybe let the player interact with people in a fictional social media or something like that.
As for fan service, I think it will be so phenomenal if MC from P3 gets made into a persona, since.... Well he's... I would like to see SMT MCs as bonus boss battles! When you beat them, you can summon them as personas. Like DUDE, imagine having both Minato and Demi Fiend on your side... Outside of battle, it will be cool if the player can interact with characters from past persona games and even establish social links with them, allowing the player to relive their experience of the old games and see a continuation of those characters' lives.
Hmm, that's about it for my ideas for a P6.
And yes, no more annoying mascots would be great.......

That's a great ideas especially the dungeons! I have an ideas too, like this
*Theme* : Morality and Immorality (people in this game always sticking with bad habit or perspective), judging others, ideal (perfection) vs exposing flaws or privacy, unity vs separation, majority vs isolation.
      *Color Theme* : White
      *Story* :
The MC and team will be known as secret agent, The Incognito (You can name it though). The other realm is called AKASHA RECORDS (based on Akashic Records in real life).
AKASHA is a Japanese company that specializes in Internet-related services, products etc, just like Google in real life. The founder of AKASHA is Kirishima Group, your uncle's family. When the user of AKASHA app make an account, then that means they are connecting themself to their own Shadow from unconscious realm, that's why the Shadow of the user know the user's weaknesses and trauma because basically it is their own Shadow. Shadows know everything about the users, they are just like data of the person.
The portal to AKASHA RECORDS is by take a photo selfie or take a video with you in it with AKASHA app. When you take a selfie or take a video, the person in the photo will enter AKASHA RECORDS, while the real time will freeze. In AKASHA RECORDS however, you can set the time only to see the past events, but not the future, you can't interact with people either while the time freeze. When you go to see someone's past, you can take a photo of good memories of a person to remind them that they had something to treasured. You can also take a photo of trauma events of a person and send it to the victim in real life as a reminder that the victim should face their trauma to heal. So the Shadows can come out in AKASHA RECORDS and you'd be able to defeat it. But someone can use this method to do bad things too, like make people go crazy because sending a photo of traumatic events can harm recovery. It can shut them down and lock the psychological vault, if not for forever, then at least for a long time. That's why you and your team have to be careful of using this method.
In AKASHA RECORDS you can see people's inner thoughts because there are so many letters or words in that other realm to represents that you are in the world of information/data (just like how P4 with glitching TV screen when the Shadow weakened, or P5 with pink footsteps or fire thingy when the Shadow appears and disappears).
In AKASHA RECORDS, your smart phone battery won't die since you captured the real time in your phone, and the real time is freezing, that's why your battery stuck too. People's immoral behaviors and inner thoughts in real world influencing their Shadows making the world based on what they are desire or how they see things called *UTOPIA*. If you want to return to the real world, just delete the photo you just took before enter AKASHA RECORDS and you will be in the same position as before you enter it. And it can cause mistrust in your group if something bad happen, because maybe some of them or one of them go to the AKASHA RECORDS without anybody knows it.
UTOPIA is like Palace in P5 but more like a duplicate of real world that created by the people unconsciously. If so many people desire the UTOPIA unconsciously, then it will become reality. You have to change people's perspective of UTOPIA by defeating Shadow of the Masses, so UTOPIA can be ruined.
There's also a dungeon to grinding level called APISTOS (meaning unfaithful/faithless). To enter this dungeon, You have to enter AKASHA RECORDS first, then say "APISTOS" intentionally at any religious place such as shrines or church. No matter where religious place is, you will end up in the same Apistos.
Social Link with party members will affect the story and ending. If the rank is 1-4 (unfaithful), they will fight against you in the endgame. If the rank is 5-8 (doubt), they will follow you in the endgame but they can still oppose you. If the rank is 9 or 10 max (faith), they will follow you no matter what because they trust you. It's because there's a point near endgame where your teammates have their own vision about the world and what they want to do. That's why your Social Link rank and your Social Stats will affect the story.
*Something New or Game Mechanics??* :
      1. Physical & Elemental : 2 Physicals (Sharp & Blunt), Fire vs Ice, Elec vs Wind, Nuclear vs Psy, Gravity vs Blast, Virtue vs Sin (Light vs Darkness), Almighty.
      2. MC's unconscious doesn't mean game over. But the party members will automatically act freely.
      3. Swap Skills : There are 8 slots for skills. You can swap skills.
      4. Buff and debuff can stack 2x before extended.
      5. Unique/Exclusive Skill : There will be exclusive skill for all party members.
      6. MC's Initial Persona : Can't be fused except for some Personas that related to the story. You can customized stats meter, like magic, strength, luck etc (initial persona only).
      7. Persona Collective : You can recruit regular Shadow to be your group persona (mask). But only for the affinities and support skills. Let's say your group recruit Jack Frost and equip it as group persona. His affinity is Strong to Ice and he has Ice Boost as passive support skills. It will help you and your teammates Strong to Ice and Ice attacks will be more effective.
      8. Secondary Arcana : all characters have more than 1 arcana. How "Secondary Arcana" works? When you do social link with a person, let's just say his main arcana is Magician. His secondary arcana is Star and Devil. Then Magician will rank up while secondary arcana gets bonus +1 or +2 points. So when you do social link with Devil arcana or Star arcana, it will rank up faster.
      9. Social Links/Confidant and Social Stats : Affects the story and ending
      10. Second Awakening based on story, but Third Awakening depends on Social Link
*Persona Summoning Method* : In awakening scene, your smart phone will ringing, someone's calling, when you see it, it is "You" yourself the one who's calling you. Yes it is your own Persona that trying to call your mind through smart phone. While ringing, you hear a voice from your smart phone, echoing in your head, trying to convince you to accept the call by answer it. But you will hear voice that make you have to accept yourself, and your fear, that's why it makes really hard for you to answer the call from your persona. The scene will show that you are trying to break the phone, throw it to the ground, hoping that the voice will stop. But it's no use, your smart phone is okay, nothing changes due to the time freeze. In the end, you accepting it, you answer the call. Your persona will say "Thou Art I, and I am Thou etc etc" until he asks you to call him by name. You say "JASON!" as your initial persona, then he appears. Later, after awakening, it is you who calls the persona through your smart phone. He is now in your Contacts.
*Persona Recruitment* : After you talk to a Shadow, if the Shadow realize that they born from the sea of souls, they will remember their name and telling you their identity, that's how they become your Persona in your Contacts.
If your Persona appears, it will always seen by your side protecting you, until you call other Personas, or when the Persona that you equip getting hit twice by its weaknesses, the persona will disappear and you are in Down Condition. In this moment, you are instantly equipping initial Persona.
*Velvet Room* : An old classic and elegant living room (vintage style) with blue interior surrounded by Photography Studio setup such as lighting for fusing personas. There is also a Darkroom for printing the photo (Red light interior). There are 2 attendants named Victor (photographer, who will fuse your personas by taking a photo) and Eva (Shadow) as the one who holding a persona compendium book (talk to her if you want buy persona or register persona). This velvet room full of books in bookshelf and other antique materials.
The persona fusion method is by capturing a photo of the personas you have for fusion. When fusing a persona, the lighting in photo studio create a silhouette figure (the result of fusion) behind the persona materials that you have for fusion. Then a silhouette figure becomes clearer and take a form of persona of the fusion result after bright white light suddenly appears on the screen when taking a photo.
The Darkroom in Velvet Room can be use only when you want to fuse a persona that you can't have yet because you are under leveled. You can fuse the persona, but you have to wait until your level can reach the level of the persona you just fused. Then you can pick it up in Darkroom.

    Some things I would like:
    -Non-linear dungeons
-If the setting is in a big city, please took some inspiration from the Yakuza games and make the city packed with a lot of things to do.
-Don't know about an all adult cast, but would be nice one or two just to have a more diverse cast.
-Social links with at least 2 or 3 routes, sometimes the way the games make you care about your dialogue option is by rewarding you mindlessly agreeing with everything a character is saying(which is kinda a problem in both Mishima's and shynya's confidant), in my opinion depending of your choices you should get different routes.

On the social links, it might be interesting if that combined with Nyarly's ideas on social links that you can get locked out of due to association with other characters and such could potentially provide some sort of other bonus that a normal social link doesn't. Also maybe having multiple characters that have a given arcana could be interesting as well rather than just one social link per arcana per game.

Besides the stuff that nyarly and other folks in the comments have said (older cast please for the love of jack frost) I think that having group confidant/social link events would be neat- as in, two or more social link characters share a rank-up event, and so you need both to proceed. Or maybe having it be optional, but just more efficient time-wise to trigger the shared event by having links at the right rank at the right time rather than do two seperate ones, and also have it alter both stories going forward. Might help with the feeling that every other character revolves around the protagonist and the protagonist only, and provide some restrictions on social links without just straight up cutting them off.

*Persona Summoning Method* : In awakening scene, your smartphone will ringing, someone's calling, when you see it, it is "You" yourself the one who's calling you. Yes it is your own Persona that trying to call your mind through smartphone. While ringing, you hear a voice from your smartphone, echoing in your head, trying to convince you to accept the call by answer it. But you will hear voice that make you have to accept yourself, and your fear, that's why it makes really hard for you to answer the call from your persona. The scene will show that you are trying to break the phone, throw it to the ground, hoping that the voice will stop. But it's no use, your smartphone is okay, nothing changes due to the time freeze. In the end, you accepting it, you answer the call. Your persona will say "Thou Art I, and I am Thou etc etc" until he asks you to call him by name. You say "JASON!" as your initial persona, then he appears. Later, after awakening, it is you who calls the persona through your smartphone.

I love that social link idea. I have a really hard time with persona games because of the social links and not being able to plan out my days or fuse the right persona for the link. I love if they would have a dynamic like in P4. Where if you hang out with characters who are friends (an example from P3 is koromarus walks) where you can boost your points with other people depending on who you meet. But if you're romanced with a certain character. If they are the jealous type then you would lose points. Say like if you had another person you romanced. ALSO YES! GIVE USBA FEMALE PROTAGONIST ATLUS! Persona 3 Portable was my favorite persona game because I can play as a girl. It would've been great if Kasumi was a protagonist for royal. It would've been a buy for me at that point. Actually I would also love to have a SILENT animal party member. Like Korormaru. He was a normal dog that had his own story. And people loved that. I'm all for animals being useful on the field but Teddir and Morgana are not what I want for that kind of thing. Like if Morgana was a ln actual cat that would make sense. We don't need a cartoony navigator before getting a real one. Mitsuru was a great support navigator before Fuuka came along. Bring that kind of thing back. It doesn't have to be they have direct ties to the entire team like being responsible for them having persons but having a character who isn't annoying for half the game be someone who can tell you about the enemy would be amazing.

    Idea for multiple personas:
Have each party member be able to use personas of their arcana.

I personally want continuity back. I want to know how Tamaki has been doing all these years, if any devil summoners have been up to something, whether or not Soul Hackers has already happened or still takes place further in the future due to its cyberpunk aspects. Did the IS Tatsuya somehow manage to survive, has Nyarlathotep been up to anything lately? Also Nanako from Persona 4 could show up as a school student in the next game's setting, if not downright becoming part of the main cast. The time jump should make her old enough for that. I'd also like to see people able to use their powers in reality too, so they won't feel like just normal people who only get powers under specific conditions. We need more scenes of people slashing bullets with a sword!
Also harder gameplay would be nice. Maybe allow characters to switch personas depending on their arcana affinity again.
Considering how the Collective Unconscious works, you could have excuses for cross over boss fights, like getting to fight against an Unconscious Cognitive Interpretation of a character from an SMT title. Or maybe through Laylines or a random Amala drum the actual character could show up and test the "protectors" of this world, while obviously holding back. P2 does show that Persona users can indeed become powerful, but they're not universe destroyer levels of powerful.

I actually really love the compatibility idea you had, it would make ranking up social links more impactful on gameplay which is how I always thought they should be, like in p5 they talk about how your persona is a manifestation of your heart, growing closer to a person of the corresponding arcana would strengthen your heart and therefore your personas of that arcana.

When i started playing my first persona game, i was amazed that remaining days were something like a limited resource that i had to work with if i wanna experience as many social links as possible. Granted without saying the right things ( aka consulting a guide nonstop ) its still near impossible to max all.
What i mean by this that i wish Atlus would deliberately make it so you cant max all of them, but in the same vein as you say social links could have some sort of interaction between them and matter even more than they did in P5. In the same vein i sort of want that all Social Link rewards to be useful and not just save some few days, things are that much cheaper or skill copying or weapon upgrading that i never actually have to bother with anyway.

What I'd really like to just have a story that it's bound by the limits of highschool day to day life. When Persona introduced it first it was a novel concept that hadn't really been done in videogames before, but now it doesn't really feel interesting anymore in my opinion since there are tons and tons of other games that have followed this trend . I wouldn't even mind if the cast was still composed of just teenagers doing teen stuff, because plenty of other games have them. But sadly I know this won't happen due to the importance highschool has on japanese culture as a whole.

Something I really want Atlus to bring back is losing a turn to get back up after being knocked down. Like in Persona 3. I liked having to think about whether or not I should go for more damage or hold off to give myself some breathing room. In P4 and P5 I just felt that the optimal strategy for most encounters was just attack and that being knocked down was pointless.
Another thing that might be cool is to introduce the party members as a special class or a specific club at the beginning of the game like in Trails of Cold Steel. That way, Atlus can have you wanting to learn more about these characters and also be able to space out their joining the party. Characters can also join the club or class later in the game too, again like Cold Steel. In this case though, I hope Atlus would learn from Falcom’s example and not have too many characters in said class/club.

On the topic of useless teammates: I agree for P3P and P4 but not really for P5. In P3 Akihiko + Aigis in party was practically mandatory. Akihiko was the only one with debuffs, while Aigis had all buffs and only one other party member even had a buff ( jupei ). In P4 you dont even have debuffs on any party members, while Teddie had it all: multi target heal, all buffs, in exchange for low hp that doesnt really matter, this basically means Yu is a debuff bot quite literally. In P5 every party member has a buff or debuff at least to not make them useless at bosses.

Great video, and I only have two disagreement and that is with the amount of elemental types in persona 5 and shuffle time. All of the elements have a good place in the battle system, with the new additions of nuclear and psi allowing for good utilization of technical and mental ailments respectively. I feel that the element types were perfected in p5 and hope it doesn’t change. 2nd: The negotiation system in p5 both works better contextually and in practice than in all the other games. I always felt the shuffle time was too random and uninteresting when I played p4. Everything else I agree with you and thought you made a great video. Have a good day.

A lot of things people want and hell, what I want just can't work in the current Persona. Atlus will cater to the Japanese audience (their main demographic) and westerners are an after thought. (which makes sense) Persona has always been set in a high school in Japan barring other game sequels or spin offs. Persona is also a time management game. I don't know about you but, japanese work scheduals and time management does not scream fun to a Japanese audience.
The main thing I want is good gameplay and characters. I want the story to makes sense and not make characters look dumb or regress back from their character development. I'm a simple woman, I'm not hard to please.
Character customization, while I love, wouldn't fit Persona. Most of the game outside of combat, is in school. Over 90% percent, of schools in Japan have uniforms. Not to mention they designed these protagonists with the purpose of marketing the game. They probably wouldn't bother with large amounts customization.
Two protagonist, while I also like. Would take a lot more production time and resources. (Imagine a femc during the Kamoshida arc and imagine how many lines and scenes would be changed.) Scripts, voice lines, animations, social links, all those things needs a changes. I do think plausible that they make it into some priced up dlc. Which will be day one along with 30 other dlc packs, of course. : )
What I would want to make a return is social link reversals. I hate 4 barely had any links that could be broken or reversed. And that 5 completely just removed it. I want to be asshole sometimes in this game and I want to allowed to say the wrong thing to a character.
I think alteration of 1 and 2's Persona system might work. My idea is for party members being able to use personas of another party member's arcana. Like having a lovers and moon arcana on the team, they'll be able to use personas of that arcana. And maybe if you max their social link, they'll gain access to another arcana.

+1 on the “Choices matter more.” That’s the one thing with Persona games, If you make the wrong decision make it count towards something. Like was mentioned in the video and as above, I want callbacks to stupid or insightful things the MC said before, for the ability to enter a reversed arcana if you strain the relationship.
Virtually all of the time your social link interactions will end in the same way with the same dialogue and feelings. Imagine the replayability if you could choose to be an ass, a goof, an insightful cold-hearted deviant etc. And that would then translate further into the game. If your intelligent and kind, those that would gravitate towards that do so, whereas it’s harder for you to talk the to the resident assholes. Or your smarter inside the Metaverse/whatever is used, you can create plans that are likely to work better depending how you play. Run out guns blazing, be stealthy etc.

This is a 5/6 I almost complete agree with most of this video
except for the social links aspect and the party using other persona.
And I dont want to say it without a reason or a proper and kind rebuttal
I aim to be as respectful as possible.
Now while the social links idea sounds good on paper for completionism sake
it's a detriment, one of the things about persona is I like seeing my hard work
from replays on where a gathering of my social links cheer me on and support me through the
story, and when I get all of them its a sense of accomplishment and dopamine that makes my heart
go all aflutter. Especially in persona 5's case (knowing what the social links do for you at the end,)
And I honestly can't see a reason why it would exist, yes its realistic but so is letting your friend associate
with people they like respectfully, I'm just saying it may be realistic but no person I've talked to has ever
said anything similar and if in the rare case it did happen, the person telling me to stop wasn't a friend very long after
that. Social links should stay their own separate things, they already take alot of work raising stats and managing time
and personally I think that's enough on its own.
As for the party a similar thing applies that I think it's fine as is, maybe give the party some souped up stats but eh,
managing the player's group of personas for battle is already a hurdle in itself, I'd hate to have to micromanage for 7 other people
and it kinda takes away from the strategy in the games as is. I say you're right on the earth front and yeah I also like bringing split
attacks back which means among customizing your character's physical appearance you can also give them different weapons.
But eh I'd like to stay focused on one party member's persona, maybe if possible when you're talking to whoever replaces igor.
(I think it might be that kid with the bowl cut in royal) You can add different spells/abilities on your party members.
I just feel like that idea well not many are fighting for it and at that point you may as well just play DDS or an older SMT game
as you said before with the one more's "It keeps the games different." Gives them different Identities. Sorry it was so long, I hope you
    enjoyed reading it.

    • @sokumotanaka9271
      @sokumotanaka9271 2 года назад +2

I guess I should put what I'd like down.
Customizable protagonist and I'm talking skintone and gender and hair options
Optional persona. Persona 5 took a step in the right direction for personas other people could use that you could buy
but I want more crazy options, let me use Koromaru's cerberus (best design imo) OR any of strega's personas, metis, labrys
shinji's etc etc. And it be simple cause all you gotta do is make the model hover behind the protag anyway.
After I max my social stats give me something to gain from getting questions right! Like for example:
if I answer a question right and my intelligence is maxed out, I'd like whatever persona I have equipped to get a stat up of my choosing by 1-4 points
and also maybe some good skill cards to, that way I still get rewarded for paying attention when I reanswer some of those questions again, and get incentive
      for doing so.
More showdown like team attacks but everyone at least has one with each other
it seems like such a waste certain characters didn't get any and it really highlights the lack of interaction
some of them have with each other, and adding onto that I'd like more party interactions, just casual interactions to flesh
out relationships; I honestly can't even picture Haru and Yusuke as friends who would hang out alone if the others weren't around.
      Let's change that!
Besides that I'd make it so maybe you can mix small things like by the time I got those veggies and the curry it was WAY after
I kept buying those 20 pnt SP drinks from Vending machines and wish the other options were available earlier.
Those would be my ideas and if I have any more I might come put some more down~

One thing I think would be cool regarding the social aspect is the option to instigate a romance between characters that don't include the protagonist.
Let's use three example characters. We're gonna call them Protag, Ryota and Mizuki. Now, as Protag, you could romance Mizuki if you wanted to, but through your interactions with Ryota, it becomes very clear to you that he has a massive crush on Mizuki, but he lacks the confidence to tell her how he feels.
Now, having learned this, you could unlock some extra dialogue options in Mizuki's social link, where you could try to subtly hint at Ryota's crush on her, and maybe even set them up on a date. And if that goes well, you could maybe even rank up both Ryota and Mizuki's social links to rank 10 simultaneously.
Alternatively, if you romance Mizuki before you max out Ryota's social link, he'll start to resent you and be less likely to want to spend time with you, making it a lot harder to rank him up. Now, I also think that there should be a way to remedy this, a way to "mend the link", so to speak, to get him to stop resenting you and get his social link progression back on track. I dunno what that method would be, but it definitely shouldn't be easy to do. After all, a broken bond of trust isn't so easily mended.
I think there's a lot of potential with the social link system, and this is just one of my many ideas. But then again, I'm just one voice in a crowd of millions, so I doubt it'll affect anything, but it's fun to dream.
