hi man, thanks for your video! I have been a French arborist for over 10 years (I have training), and most of the things you do are extremely dangerous. - don't use a prussik on an SRT rope you risk ending up on your ass on the ground, add an additional brake (demi cabestan in french) - avoid using only a carabiner to anchor yourself - a retention on its own if it's not mastering is super dangerous - if you are really interested in this profession, take training - climb safe
Thank you for the advice! I don’t like using srt much my person opinion (not to down talk it’s efficacy in certain situations) I prefer to find a way to drt but it’s not a viable option in some cases, I do inspect my prussik every time I put it on and keep a close eye on it throughout my work, not saying that makes it much better! I intend on purchasing a petzel zig-zag very soon just saving up! Again thank you for the advice, and I am currently training as I work with a 35year vet here in Arkansas, he has taught me a lot in the last couple months and it’s been a blessing. Most of my most recent climbs will be coming very soon, please keep in touch brother stay safe and climb high man!!
Good job buddy but slow down a little bit there's no need to rush it seems like you're trying to go too fast that's when accidents happen especially in tree work it could be life or death also another thing I noticed is you cut straight through your hinge wood on all your notches just some tips God bless stay safe
Good observation! I did that on purpose because of the tips being so dead, I wanted them to let go as smoothly as possible to keep from getting rained on, and I was definitely rushing that day I had about 30 minutes to spare from a lightning storm when I finished that one, and my go pro died but I can assure you I didn’t cut through my hinge on the last cut!😅😂 Thankyou for the pointers always appreciated! God bless brother!
Just over a year, thank you! Much better videos coming soon, I’ve been trying to get caught up with all my old footage, everything from here will be nearly up to date!
With all that open area why not just drop the whole tree and work from the ground. A lot of extra risk . Don't matter if it's an oak or not , dead is Dangerous to climb
Can’t cut it from the ground they wanted a pole left to make a carving, that is unless your the kinda guy that cuts trees off a ladder🫣, and you must not be a climber if your that scared of a dead tree bud, if so you must be the backup😂🤷, any climber young or old knows what he/she can or can’t climb on and if you’d watched the whole video you’d know I didn’t climb onto any branches at all just stood in the main crotch, but for the record you very safely could have went at least halfway up the branches, but thanks for the views👍 always appreciated😂
@WildHeightsTreeService you're very defensive for someone so confident. If they want a pole tell them to go to the pole yard and buy one . You're full of shit and don't worry I'll never watch another one of your videos. And I've been climbing over 20.
All I can say is "UGH"! You need to get more training. So many wrongs I don't know where to begin. I give you credit for your enthusiasm to climb and work a tree. But you are headed for an serious injury if you keep going the way you are going. For beginners: Two hands on the saw....position yourself to allow comfortable cutting with two hands. Learn how to make a snap cut. No prusik only when climbing SRT. Get yourself a rope wrench to pair with the prusik if you want to climb SRT. Otherwise climb MRS (DdRT). Learn how to make face cuts when necessary and do not cut through your hinge wood. Learn proper rigging techniques. You have the desire.....now let's do it right and get proper training. Watch more videos (Hunicke, Game of Trees, Metaspencer, Zaccheus, Poplar Mechanic, Climbing Arborist, TreeMuggs, and more.
Dude this was literally a solo job I was sent to do as fast and simple as possible. If we intended to rig anything I would have had at least 2 other people on the site. That one rig was completely not planned. And yes I’m aware of the prussik.
