Dude this was literally a solo job I was sent to do as fast and simple as possible. If we intended to rig anything I would have had at least 2 other people on the site. That one rig was completely not planned. And yes I’m aware of the prussik.

Totally respect but I was tied to the opposite side of the tree the whole time brother😅, I set my climb line before I ever left the ground, I was never not tied in on that tree at any time🤷🤝 but thanks for the advice any is appreciated

Thank you for the advice! I don’t like using srt much my person opinion (not to down talk it’s efficacy in certain situations) I prefer to find a way to drt but it’s not a viable option in some cases, I do inspect my prussik every time I put it on and keep a close eye on it throughout my work, not saying that makes it much better! I intend on purchasing a petzel zig-zag very soon just saving up! Again thank you for the advice, and I am currently training as I work with a 35year vet here in Arkansas, he has taught me a lot in the last couple months and it’s been a blessing. Can’t cut it from the ground they wanted a pole left to make a carving, that is unless your the kinda guy that cuts trees off a ladder🫣, and you must not be a climber if your that scared of a dead tree bud, if so you must be the backup😂🤷, any climber young or old knows what he/she can or can’t climb on and if you’d watched the whole video you’d know I didn’t climb onto any branches at all just stood in the main crotch, but for the record you very safely could have went at least halfway up the branches, but thanks for the views👍 always appreciated😂

If you can’t hold yourself in position with your arms while you set a rope you don’t need to be climbing in the first place. And no it’s not ISA protocol and for the record I’ve climbed said tree since I was 6 years old with no clue an aborist was even a thing. I think I’ll be just fine.

Very very VERY valid question! I DO NOT RECOMMEND😅, this tree is in my own yard (planted by my grandfather and very dear to us) I do reluctantly use my spurs only to get traction to ease my way up if you watch closely I’m not really spiking in, more just using the tips of the spurs very gently to walk up to a standing point or to where I can hang from my rope, not ideal at all, but without ascending devices this was the best way I could get it done (I would never do this to a customers tree without reason and permission)

I did that on purpose because of the tips being so dead, I wanted them to let go as smoothly as possible to keep from getting rained on, and I was definitely rushing that day I had about 30 minutes to spare from a lightning storm when I finished that one, and my go pro died but I can assure you I didn’t cut through my hinge on the last cut!😅😂 Thankyou for the pointers always appreciated! Absolutely TERRIBLE harness😂😂 I hate it but it works till my monkey beaver 2.0 gets here✊

I do occasionally but I prefer not to, I have more dexterity without gloves generally, if I’m running ropes a lot I wear gloves so I don’t get burnt though

I know the V cuts are effective and a lot safer, only issue was the crane operator didn’t have enough reach to get above the tips and he wanted me to tip them over into the cable (not ideal at all) and yes I have a new top handle now and just got a 500i just give me time brother😂thank you for the input!

Very small saw for this type of job, especially when dealing with oak.

Not exactly sure what the specific type is it’s just a simple prusik knot though
