Foot to the floor up a moderate grade towing a 22ft center console can't get to 50mph. Smokes a bit at idle and always heavy exhaust smell. Unfortunately a 3-speed A727 trans. In a nutshell, when things like hoods, doors, floor panels, and body sides would come of the line fucked up Ford would say re-do it and make the parts right, we'll pay full price. Dodge would say we will buy those fucked up parts at a discount. Only thing to assume is those parts are getting used in their trucks after some metal finishers do a bit of touch up. I also used to work as a metal finisher for a short time.

      Clocker 1.... I like the Gibson Les Paul Custom...deep rich sound..preferred guitar of Duane Allman. Fender Stratocaster..sharp tone and 6x cheaper than a Gibson Les Paul Custom. My knowledge is every professional musician should have both....think of it this way...it is like owning a new Porsche 911 Turbo and a new ZO6 Corvette...both great cars...I would love to have both...they are both "sport cars" as we can agree, but very different in many aspects...Jimi Hendrix used both, including a Gibson Flying V. Every one needs to "Chang it Up" once in a while and experiment with a different sound...no different than owning different diesel makes...why not??? John K

    So I have a question for you Billy. What is your take on the 6.9 diesel in the old 80s Fords?

    • @cnf6045
      @cnf6045 2 года назад

      They’re very reliable. They’re also very gutless. Issues…they leak oil, the return lines leak, and I believe you have to use an SCA in your coolant system to prevent cavitation, but that could just be on the 7.3 idi’s. And they’re very underpowered. I’ve driven one as a farm truck, and when you put 4 or 5 hay trailers on the back, you realize that the accelerator pedal doesn’t make it go faster it just makes it louder. Other than that the only issue is they don’t make them anymore. Good trucks. And the motors can be had for cheap cause people don’t want them as much as the 12V’s and 7.3 PSD’s cause you can’t turn them up.

    Ive got a 91 ram 250 cummins and i love the truck for how easy it is to maintain, in the first pages of the manual it says "this engine was designed to be worked on in a driveway with a handful of wrenches." Thats the spirit that went into the design of the motor which is one reason you will see more old cummins on the road than any other old desiel. The engine is so damm reliable that i havent had to to a single thing to it since i bought it, well i did swap some gaskets but thats a cakewalk. Dodge trucks weak points arent usually in the motor, dodge has solid engines but thier suspension and automatic transmissions are among the worst in the truck game. But pick your poison, in a dodge cummins you wont have to worry about engine failure unless you dont maintain it at all, but expect it to eat through transmissions and need a new front end every 100k miles or less.

      Drastic Measures Had a 2000 7.3 stick and HATED it. Worst shifting truck I ever drove. Was terrible if you got stuck in traffic. Clutch would grab right off the floor and was hard as could be to push down. I traded it in because of it. Liked the truck though. Found out later the previous owner traded it in because of the manual again.

      I've got a 97 with the auto tranny - and I like it! I tow a 30 ft travel trailer that weighs about 7600 lbs. Had a billeted torque converter installed and a bunch of other needed upgrades (like an intercooler!) and now I'm keeping this non-catalytic converter, non-DEF, coal rolling beauty forever. Ha.

      Francisco Tovar dont use diesel engine oil in a gasoline engine, unless it doesn't have catalytic converters. The additives in diesel oil can clog up the converters over time.

      DEBOSS GARAGE I had an 06 f250 with a 6.0 and currently have an 01 24Valve ram 2500. Both great trucks honestly. I really liked the ride quality and beefiness of the steering and suspension on the ford. Just a shame I had to spend 6 grand on the 6.0 immediately after buying it to get it bulletproofed so I felt confident enough in it to drive it.....the dodge just keeps on chugging away, not a single repair or parts bill yet with it!
