- This is one of the longest travel days we've had so far, so we decided to make a #travelvlog to document it for you guys!. We had to wake up at 3 AM to catch a 4:45 AM train from Plovdiv to Sofia. Then, we take a 10 hour train ride from #Sofia to #Bucharest, and don't arrive until 7 PM!
We don't typically do videos like this where we show a day where we're traveling from one city to another. But this travel day was especially long, so we thought we'd take you along! Be sure to drop us a comment if this is something you'd like to see again :)
Thanks so much for watching! Don’t forget to like and subscribe :)

lol, when that alarm went off at the beginning of the video , I literally was checking my phone to press stop:)
LOL I do that all the time when I'm watching something and someone's phone rings 😂
This was a great video. So great to see different portions of the journey there.
Its a true adventure to travel so much with the train .
We LOVE train travel!
@@JackandGabExplore me too .
Very Nice video! I Will visit Bulgaria next summer when it is possible with COVID
Thanks. I liked your video. I've made this trip myself and will probably do it again.
2 adorable and brave kids! Wellcome in Romania!
Our train system is very bad, 30 years ago was good, but not now. Our trains are slow and old. Not a lot of Bulgarians travel with trains here. I think it's kind of the same as the buses in USA, where the poor people are travelling with. Cool video! Nice work again :)
Yeah that makes sense! We prefer trains over buses so it was just nice to not have to take the bus :) Thanks for watching!
@@JackandGabExplore I understand, I like trains, too, but not our trains :D
Love this video💚
Thank you so much! Our first travel day vlog so appreciate the feedback :)
Hi guys, I might move to Sofia for a few years, next year. How easy was it to live there only speaking English? did you see a lot of American's or Ex-Pats? thanks
It's a pretty international city so there were definitely a good it of foreigners there! I don't think we bumped into any other Americans though. You should definitely consider checking out Plovdiv...it's a super cool city and there are TONS of ex-pats living there. It's a big digital nomad hub! The bars and restaurants are awesome--the hipster district Kapana was our favorite neighborhood
SUUPPEERRRRR SUUPPEERRRRR!!!... FELICITĂRI!!!
This is really, really helpful. Thank you!
i like the way u presenting both u guys... good luck and hoping many travel videos in future
How was the border control?
Does this train goes through ruse?
Is there night trains too?
Are reservations to be done in advance?
It does, but unless you're up for an adventure it's easier to take a bus from Sofia to Ruse and transfer to a bus to Bucharest there haha
4:01 lmao😂
Great video btw
Nice video, it would have been interesting if you had mentioned how the border crossing was after you said you had never done one by train. I am thinking of that trip next May. Also you should have pronounced the names of Plovdiv and Sofia correctly, but that's OK, you were not giving lessons in Bulgarian. But I lived there for 4 years, 32 years ago, and I was sensitive when other Americans came and said it wrong, so that's on me and not you.
Hello, are you aware of the availability of a sleeper night train that operates between Sofia and Bucharest? Many thanks
Hi guys. How was the border crossing in both sides? Did they let u out? Or the officers went into the train
Yass 😁
What kind of camera do you guys use for your vlogging? Nice video.
Thanks so much! We mostly use a DJI Osmo Pocket. It shoots in 4K, has a built in stabilizer, and it's super small so you can fit it in your pocket. Definitely recommend it!
Interesting video, enjoyed watching it. You got lucky that you only got delayed by some 30 or so minutes when your locomotive failed. Often it takes a couple of hours to find a replacement locomotive.
We had no idea how long it was going to be but glad they got the problem resolved so quickly! Thanks for watching :)
What city are you from?
hey guys, did you have to get off the train and on another one at any point?
4:02 "These trains in Bulgaria work like clockwork" hahahaaha .... Said no one EVER :D
Seriously guys avoid the Bulgarian railways company - they are the worst in the whole country, people stay away. Better take a bus, it will cost 2-3 dollars more, but you will save a looooot of time :)
Super funny because our experience riding the train was great! Plus it's always way more comfortable than the bus :)
Haha, this is funny, în România is The same. I leave in north side close to hungarian border and if i want to go to the beach, The travel Take 12 hours at least to cross The country
I hope this is only a temporary situation. All around the world people prefer taking trains over buses for the level of comfort, reliability, speed and safety. From what I gather the service of the Bulgarian State Railways is actually better than their reputation. Once a reputation is damaged it takes a long time repair and I think some of the more recent "repair" hasn't been indexed by the population yet.
I read all about the rebuilding of the major rail lines in Bulgaria and new trains being purchased so can't wait to see that improve the actual end-user experience. I think preferring slow and smelly buses will become a thing of the past then.
💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Is the train air-conditioned??
Great video!! love from India and what was the class of ticket?
it's economy (source: I'm Bulgarian lol)
@@iusemathinreallife how about second class ?
Awesome Vlog not much but it’s great 👍 guy’s
Does this train have a dining car?
Thank you
Do you need a passport or a visa?
Bucharest- the Paris of the East
You really should get a debit card with no foreign transaction fees or ATM fees, so if you ever need cash like you did at the train station, you can just go to an ATM and get cash. You'll get the best possible exchange rate and no fees.
I travel all the time Bulgaria - Romania, the price is much higher, because of the fee Romanian company take. The price of trains in Romania are much higher! More than double!
It's true! The trains in Bulgaria were much cheaper.
Please show me how you can buy tickets from Sophia to Bucharest? Which website? Thank you.
We weren't able to buy them online. We bought them directly from the Sofia train station
Hey, I buy my tickets online from here www.bdz.bg/en
I hope it works for foreigners too
in Bucharest avoid taxis like the plague
You guys are crazy LOL! Nobody told you about buses from every major city in Bulgaria to Bucharest ? Busses are affordable, clean, air conditioned and way better way to travel :) , trains in Bulgaria are thing of the past unlike most of Europe.
Great video….useful info thanks ….no need to show u brushing your teeth…keep up the good work.
I got my back pack stolen in union station in Chicago.
only 10 hrs.I am 70+ and your yrs old? LOL
Omg M truck it's a lot better
So, now that you’ve seen Bulgaria and Romania. Which one is better, more beautiful and cleaner, more of anything :). (Romania is the correct answer) 😎
Ahahaha we love them both! We can't pick ;)
Just pick Romania, better :))
@@0AdrianP0 , dear Bulagarians, sorry for my connational implying that one is better than the other. Rude !
They have been in Plovdiv and Ruse which is like Arad or Bistrica in Romania, and I do think remote Bulgarian cities do look better than Romanian, because most of them are old and are still maintained good, of course without counting new buildings that does not fit with the older structures. But the capital Bucuresti and Brashow for example do look little better than many Bulgarian cities. Bucuresti is nicer than Sofia, but I think Varna and Burgas are nicer than both so hard to pick ;) ...
@Yes, but beauty of the city also matters for tourism so I guess Constanza must be nice because our black sea is also really really nice, nobody could guess we are relatively poor country. So they are more touristic cities and more forgotten in both countries, and the reasons our trains are less nice in some ways is that the country is smaller, so you can drive with car, but try to drive Romania... Lol, I tried, I prefer sleeping in train!
