  • Paul Banham Conversions is no longer a well-known name, however I believe that their story is one worth telling.

      handling was another world, no steel above the floor pan, apart from bulk head, i had 18" tt rims, it was wide... mk1 gri engine, so no ecu, running on webbers. piper cross exhaust. was very loud and stuck to the corners like, shit to a blanket, sold it a few months ago on ebay. building a vvc 114 gta at the moment :)

    Good video, he seems to be a skilled coachbuilder/customiser, but probably best to keep him away from kit cars now. There doesn't seem to be much info about it, but he seemed to be involved in the build of the replica xk180's, but I'm not sure to what extent.

    • @full-service-history
      @full-service-history  Год назад +1

      To be honest theres not too much information on any of his cars, but especially that XK180 project. I did accidentally miss out another Banham, the Redina kit car (a 356 replica with Ford KA lights, just as awful as it sounds), but that has a single advert scan in terms of total info about it

    • @lucian6395
      @lucian6395 Год назад

      @@full-service-history I've heard about the 356 kit, but never new it had KA lights, It's one of those where it's so bad you wanna see it, like I heard about a capri with mk1 focus lights. I think that xk180 kit is owned by a South African company, but I'm not sure.

    • @full-service-history
      @full-service-history  Год назад +1

      The Redina (KA 356) was meant to be a 'modern' version of the 356 kit iirc, but never made it to production
      That Capri-Focus hybrid rings a bell, I think I remember seeing pictures of that a long time ago

    • @lucian6395
      @lucian6395 Год назад

      @@full-service-history It makes sense seem of these "modern" (old now of course) ford headlight swaps didn't work as they where alot bulkier, and integrated into the design than others of there generation such as the mk4 Golf and Corsa B

    • @full-service-history
      @full-service-history  Год назад +1

      Yeah, the Corsa B lights were definitely put in to a few too many cars (Mk3 Reliant Robin comes to mind)

      I plan to make a video on the biggest kit car maker, Dutton, at some point - which will likely be my longest video yet due to the sheer number of projects and businesses Tim Dutton has owned or had a hand in 😄

      @@full-service-history Yeah, the DBS convertible looks good. It's mainly the Metro kit cars era / TT lookalike. The RS200 was a real wasted chance for them. What was going on with the ride height aswell.
