@@onyx747 It does. The guitar needs to be at a specific height so that you're not using your arm muscles in the same way, and practicing for some months ahead of time helps. You need to strum at and near the end of the fretboard, too, which shows that a Les Paul is really not ideal for this because of the pickup switch location (though the guitar played here is a Les Paul Junior, so it should be OK; there is no switch.) I've practiced a bit, but I still think "Hardly Ramone" (he has a great cover channel) is better at this.

Johnny mostly played Mosrite (pronounced "Moe's Right") models, and their body shape among their popular Ventures, Ventures II "Slab," and Ventures Mark V models also helps - early on in the 70s, he had a place to rest his forearm that was just far enough from the strings. You really can't do that in the same comfortable way on a Stratocaster, although playing Ramones style on a Strat _is_ possible.

Oh and should I mention both of them are singing AND playing? Like… chillax guys. It’s a cover. They aren’t claiming to replace the ramones. They’re just playing songs they like.

Guitar strap needs to be lengthened so you can only use your wrist to downstroke
