Abdur-Raheem Green talks about an important question that is in the minds and in the tongues of many people. It is a claim, an accusation, in fact it is a slander that is made against the religion of Islam. That Islam oppresses women. Abdur-Raheem demonstrates that this is not only a lie and a slander, but also shows which people, nation and ideology is really responsible for oppressing women. He also looks and defines what the word "oppression" means and what Islam says about it. An educational video about the slander that some tend to promote, "Islam oppresses women." Listen in as you learn about the meaning of "oppression" and rights that are presented by Islam to women.

Abdurraheem Green embraced Islam over 20 years ago and since that time has been active in the field of da'wah. Abdurraheem was educated in a Christian monastic school and although held strong Christian principles dabbled with other religions. This continual quest to find meaning to life eventually led him to Islam.
Abdurraheem spent many years at Speakers' Corner in Hyde park, where he made his name as an inspirational orator. He has been delivering talks nationwide including universities during this time, and also on international platforms, such as the Peace Conference in Mumbai. He is a regular on Peace TV with many of his lectures widely watched on RUclips.
Abdurraheem is a founding member and chairman of iERA (www.iera.org.uk)
Italian Subtitles available.

I really enjoyed this video. I do believe that as a woman I should be the care taker and I will honor that job when the time comes, but I also believe that as a Muslim woman we should also be motivated and encouraged to achieve other things in our lives besides motherhood. Humdulallah for all the strong women who can do both.

I agreed with a lot of the talk but why should a woman or man be restricted by the differences we were created with? If a woman's dream is to be a doctor why should she not be able to because God created her with the nature to have children? And I can't accept the fact that we were created just to fulfill the responsibility to have children. Women are so much more than a glass vessel, we are able to care for ourselves given the chance. This is a problem I'm having with Islam because I do consid

your right. that's kind of my point. There's something wrong with every civilization. We see the injustices perpetrated by many countries in the mid-east, but we cannot deny our own history of injustice as well. The oppression of women, perversion and corruption and other faults, are a common history between all nations.

AbdurRaheem Green has always been such a wonderful lecturer of our times, may Allah reward him and grant him Jannah. I agree that it is the sick and perverted western society that oppresses women. How can it be oppression that the woman stays at home and doesnt work? someone has to stay at home and look after the kids! and even if the woman doesnt go to work she can still leave the house to go to many other places

This whole discusion boils down to freedom of religion. I myself a'm a atheist, but that doesnt mean i dispise other religions. Every religion has a place in this world. This must sound corny to most, but if we would respect each others religions and just had a meeting/conference with other believes in our community. We would find a way to co-exist, despite the religion. The "extreme" winged of any religion wouldnt use hurt to make there point across.

so to all 3 you can say.. it is against freedom! freedom of a woman in particular .
by your standards 3 days is enough.. setting those standards in itself if absurd! from a religion.. it's idiotic. prohibiting the movement of a woman or anyone for that matter in someones life through religion is by my standards a sin.
And muslims find it odd that i do NOT respect such a religion of opression, suspicion and hate

1: yes and even than get sentenced to death for it . So 1 if a woman does not have the choice to be with someone in a private room you take away her freedom ergo opressive
2: so a woman can not go out of the house for more than 3 days... never independant and never free .... opressive
3:is sharia demands the death of a rapist.. hooray for that.. but all the other things i do not agree on .
speaking of court.. a woman has half the voice and baring of a man... So this is also Woman unfriendly

2nd and it should never be that way. that a man determines the life of his spouse sister or whatever.. But i do not expect a muslim to understand the basics of freedom and live and let live mantality. the ones who do not follow your teachings are wrong.. which in itself creates hated towards muslims and vice versa . i don;t mind religion.. i mind it that religious people mainly muslims try and force(crowbar) their way into my life. but on topic. like i sayd. if a man determines te life she's ?

what i imply is that and conformed by khabchi's post , islam or muslims have this embedded idea that the woman's life evolves around men.. like he sayd with nudity.. yes thats called freedom, and if a woman wants to fuck, pose or whatever in front of a camera.. go ahead. no one is forcing her or holdig her back. if they choosenot to they choose not to .if they wish to gonon vacation alone so be it. if they wanna be alone in a room with a men so be it. a man does not determine the life of a woman

For the moment i think your just trying to bash islam anyway you can. All religion? What is a religion? An ideology... If I follow your words: democracy is ridiculous.
Women are second class to men? I don't think so. Who wants to have four husbands? Seriously?! Since when having to take care of 4 women was something we all fought for? Men and women are different.. Why should we want to be like men? Oh ok I see... In your ideology what men do is what is best and honorable. So women should model themselves into men. Talk about opression ;)

@palnajjar Only by your money orientated society - In Islam it is the husbands responsibility to provide for his wife and children. In 90% of the Muslim families the women do not work - they are free from that. If a woman does work it is her money which the Husband does not have any rights over . He still has to provide for her.
