Fairies would have been such a fun occult for Lovestruck and made it feel more like an expansion. Having the fairies work like little cupids that could create romance between 2 sims and cause mischief and drama would have been SO GOOD!
They binned game packs off so they could upsell the same amount of content (or less) as an expansion, we know EA. They probably regret bringing game packs out at all now they’ve realised they can upsell almost any old shit and people will still buy it
I prefer game packs over expansion packs. So many of these expansion packs are things that should be in the base game like there's no reason as to why Growing Together even exists. Why do I have to pay £30 to make the children and the entire family dynamic fun to play with? AND WHY IS GROWING TOGETHER AND PARENTHOOD 2 DIFFERENT PACKS????
Would have been great if they’d just thrown all the parenthood stuff into Growing Together, and if you already owned Parenthood give you a big discount on Growing Together or something
For real!!! I'm a sucker for family gameplay and despised the fact that the half of gameplay with infants was locked behind a paywall. So Growing Together was definitely a must for me. However, I didn't want to pay the full EP price so I had to wait a bit for the -50% sale.. It's not that the pack is bad, honestly it's right up my alley and probably one of my favorites, but I can't justify the fact that you have to pay so much for such mundane family gameplay. It would've been probably better if they either 1) refreshed the Parenthood gamepack with the core features of Growing Together 2) what @veestreams said 3) made it base game (knowing EA highly unlikely tho)
@@veestreams exactly especially when a lot of the packs use pretty much the same coding as other packs they should just discount it. That's why I wait until it's on sale for like 50% or more off
@@hentsuu_1310 Exactly this is what I'm saying - I did this for the high school years pack I heard it was bad but I loved the concept of going to school and just giving my teens more to do so I waited until it was 60% off because recently they did a sale where some of the expansion packs were like 60%. I loved the university pack - I don't always play it because it can get a bit tiring at some points but I just include that into my gameplay like it was a choice of there's that they didn't want to go. I personally loved when they did the refresh of Spa Day and have said since then that I would've for them to do more pack refreshes preferably for the packs that needed it most first like Dine Out etc and the ones that need it less like parenthood because it was a good game pack when it came out but since then there has been the introduction of more life stages eg. Infants and therefore could use a refresh to accommodate these new life stages. There was no need to create a whole new pack which just centred around infants this could have been added into parenthood - they could have used that pack instead to make a pack for elderly sims instead which would have made more sense because there's not much to do with elderly sims either. Or Parenthood should have just been called Growing together and accommodated for all life stages saving simmers from having to spend money on two packs that should have just been base game from the start that EA rushed and just decided to cash grab instead
The size of the worlds is also an indication EPs are GPs now. EP worlds used to be large with many full and empty lots. Now, the world are so small. With one empty lots and it sooooo tiny.
@@TheDawnofVanlife Well yeah that is true though! I just thought it was INSANE that they could make an EP world that is 3 times smaller than another EP world. But yeah Windenburg is really much bigger than ALL of the worlds. (The only that compares to Windenburg is San Myshuno if you count every apartment as a lot, then it technically is slightly bigger than Windenburg)
We've been saying for a couple of years now, "this could've just been a game pack." I feel like the content of the packs may not necessarily change, for example an expansion pack in the future could very well likely have only characteristics of a game pack - I feel like it's more about removing a price tier than removing that content bundle type. If that makes sense
Remember, we also went literally years between Stuff Pack releases because EA wanted to make Kits the *new* Stuff Pack. So I wouldn't be surprised if we went literal years between Game Packs as well.
To be fair, the first EP I really thought it should be GP was Horse Ranch. Yes, Sims 4 EPs always had less content than Sims 3 EPs and I did complain about that, but to be honest, until Horse Ranch never to the point where I thought "this should be a GP". OK, with High School Years, I was tempted, but still thought the world and opened school were enough to warrent EP label. But Horse Ranch? That really should be GP.
My personal theory, and I’ve said this before, is that EA puts out the absolute bare minimum because they know modders will pick up the slack. They don’t have to pay them, and we, the consumer, will purchase because there are these great upgrades we can download also at no cost. For EA it’s a win-win because they get our money with very little effort and they don’t have to spend a dime paying modders or cc creators 🤷🏻♀️
Regarding fairies: They already did this ages ago with "Island Living." That expansion only adds mermaids and some interactions that are exclusive to Sulani. So, expect a 4-lot purple fantasy world with big debug mushrooms, fairy costumes for sparkling Sims, and a new aspiration with the goal to interact with a mushroom circle.
High School Years was the first game pack sold as an expansion pack. Then, pretty much all expansion packs are really game packs falsely presented as expansions. Stuff packs provide some game play and a good number of items, both CaS and build, while kits only provide a few CaS or build items, almost never both. About those share holders... I call them parasites and leaches. They never ever contribute anything to the company, but, impose a continuous huge financial drain. They are only interested about how much tax free money they can effectively steal from companies, the number of digits in their bank accounts.
Nah, Island Living was the first game pack masquerading as an expansion pack. In fact, I swear it was initially marketed as a GP but then somehow turned into an empty and lackluster EP.
I think they tried to justify High School Years as an EP due to Discover University being one as well. Technically it makes sense both being packs about education, but still it doesn't change the fact that EA's whole brand is cash grappy as hell.
island paradise was the first game pack sold as an ep. you can literally do nothing. same goes for snowy escape. with the given amount of the shit 4 packs, nothing is enough. an ep is a gp and a gp is a stuff pack. I've played the older installments and i know for a fact that nothing is value for money.
@@hentsuu_1310 I would say High School Years has more to justify being an expansion than Discover University, which I suspect was only an expansion because it was in Sims 2. High School Years adds a live career (high school student) and the social bunny app. Discover University effectively just adds a new rabbit hole job and one where it's hard to tell what your performance is.
I want a bands/singers/musical career game pack so bad.. Imagine being able to record albums, go on tours around the maps on festivals, starting the career on bars and saloons... Signing deals and all of that, it would be so perfect 😭
Why? It'll just be a glitchy mess that breaks the game even further. What everyone should want is for EA/Maxis to put development of packs on a strict pause until the game is actually fixed. But we know that will never happen, because people continue buying their broken garbage. "Oh, this pack has a feature we've been wanting forever! YAY! Take my money!" Meanwhile it introduces a thousand new issues to an already glitch-riddled abomination. It's a turd with gold paint on it. I mean no personal offense here, but people like you are part of the problem. You continue giving them money for trash, so that's all they're ever going to deliver.
@@SkiesTurnedGrey dont know how to put it into words without being attacked but i do not give ea money haha, i stopped buying eps when cats&dogs came out and the prices in my country doubled the price out of nowhere,, but you're right, i just wrote this because satch asked what gps we'd still like to see in game, and i really wanted new musical instruments and a musical career (as a last feature to be added, i dont think sims 4 needs much new features besides updates for better quality) but the game sure is broken and its a recurrent joke on how they can out-do the bugs they introduce to the game in each release. tbh repacking community shouldnt really speak out on what they want in the game, but i used to feel frustrated about giving money to ea and getting half baked stuff, 100% agree on the fixing with you obviously tho. just yesterday i had to workaround after for rent completely corrupted my save file, and after seeking for help in answers hq i was told to literally uninstall the pack so the game could load normally;; (i mean, how the f people that paid for this expansion pack feel about having to delete it so the game can run without getting absolutely stuck....))
@@deadpetz Perhaps I assumed based on your comment. It sounded like you would be eager to buy new packs. But there are certainly people like I described out there. I can't understand the reasoning. They buy something, complain that it's broken, then continue buying more. They must be masochists.
exactly - I wish they introduced this into get famous and then this is also where they could have added like reality shows for eg. similarly to the Xfactor, Britain's / America's got Talent they could have a show called like The Sims got Talent and then Sims can audition and compete. I would love for my Sims to own like Record Labels and manage bands or even be in a band itself - they could even use some of the coding that they use for Groups in Get Together or even when they once did that partnership with Bebe Rexha, Glass Animals etc and did the concerts.
when satch played im pretty sure the husband took the wedding cake and went to the bathroom to eat the entire thing while he was crying or something like that lmfao
@@stmsly I just had people randomly wandering. They didn't watch me walk down the aisle and then my bride was getting dumped by the groom during their vows....but then it asked if we wanted to move in together
@@stmsly I don't think I ever had a wedding cake show up in my game properly. My Sim would make it, select it as the wedding cake, then show up at the wedding without it! Then, after the wedding, it would be back in his inventory when he got home!
6:39 I think another reason why pack purchasing is because of the sims-content creators continually creating content for it. This is basically FOMO marketing; which is genius! People who watch these contents- be it LPs or build videos- are bound to see something or the other they like, and get the fomo of not having that shirt, or that decor item, or that furniture or a gameplay aspect and eventually when sales come around or FOMO grows tremendously, they cave and buy the packs.
Yeah I agree. Personally I find a lot of the base game items not my style and find it difficult to decorate my houses with them. I tried downloading CC furniture but a lot of the time it ended up breaking or glitching out or I would refresh all my CC and forget where I got my favourite CC from. It also gets tiring constantly redownloading it all. So when I see Sims Content creators like Deligracy, Lilsimsie etc and I see them building new houses or making sims and I see them using stuff from packs that I like I'm immediately like I want it I wish I had this pack it has such nice stuff - which ultimately why I kinda caved and bought High School years because of the build stuff and also the clothes even though I knew the gameplay was extremely buggy whilst it was on sale for 60% during the sale before the one that is happening now
Your channel really opened my eyes to what has been going on and you make so much sense to me. I can't even see myself buying anything from them until they fix packs that people have already purchased.
I think it also has to do with the bundle-system. I think it's the same reason why they didn't release Stuff-Packs for so long. I used to get the DLC slowly and bought them in bundles. Which used to be an Expansion-Pack, a Game-Pack and a Stuff-Pack (at least on Origin, before EA made the EA-App for MacOS). So when you come to a point where you own for example all the Game-Packs you are no longer able to create a bundle if you want to get new Expansion-Packs or Stuff-Packs. You are going to spend more money to buy it all separately. I tried to wait for EA to release a new Game-Pack so I could get it together with Expansion-Packs and Stuff-Packs that I was missing but at some point you get frustrated and just buy them separately. If I recall it correctly they started with Stuff-Packs again a few month after they stopped with Game-Packs. I think some day they will reintroduce Game-Packs but than going to stop releasing Stuff-Packs again haha.
That’s my bet. I’ve gotten a lot of “free” packs from the bundle system (if I want the EP it’s gonna cost me 40 bucks but if I get three packs then it’s only gonna cost me five dollars more??? Heck yeah!) On sales you can basically get three packs for the price of one regular priced EP so why wouldn’t you just wait? Well, first they dragged their feet on adding the EPs to the bundle system so much that a lot of people just gave up, and now they control how many bundles you can make by severely limiting the game or stuff packs released
I actually love the Werewolf pack. Its definitely one of the best packs in general.. I think Sims 4 packs peaked with Werewolves and Cottage living. Its just been down hill ever since..
I agree too, Werewolves, even with a few of it's problems, was enjoyable enough to bring me back to the game for a Year easily when I had abandoned it for years before hand. but of course, Mods just enhance things (I prefer that Werewolves can be versatile, not all stuffed into one mould), I just think the Render art for the pack...left alot to be desired, because the Werewolves in game are NOT as bad as people may say, though I do admit they should have made the face length sliders a bit more expansive.
Even at $40 EPs are feeling overpriced as I can get entire games for half that price. Also, Lovestrucks contents haven’t impressed me enough to buy it, so I didn’t and do not care that I don’t have it.
i feel like not that long ago everyone was like “EA KILLED STUFF PACKS” and now we’re getting them again?? so idk what’s the point, maybe they’ll start releasing them again when simmers start to miss them or something?
i feel like they only brought them back because everyone kept saying it and asking for stuff packs back tbh. ea loves saving face only when things go for the worse 🤷🏻♀️
it is a manipulaive business strat... EA would do that with game packs. 100% make people missed them after years of not having one in time release a half-baked one. Profit
The fact that the Lovestruck ep costs more than the Witcher 3 with its two ep is so mind-blowing to me. Like how did we let this happen? It doesnt make any sense - the amount of stuff, the cas and build and buy in Lovestruck compared to all the quests, locations, characters and storylines in the Witcher 3 is just laughable and nothing else. Especially with how much the sims 4 is broken now and the witcher 3 crashed only 2 times for me, while playing for 120 hours! I uninstalled ts4 long time ago, after I quickly got bored of it even with cc and a couple of packs and went back to the sims 3. I dont regret it in the slighest.
i dislike piracy but, maxis is pretty much the only company i use piracy, beause even if you go right now and buy all the sims 4 expansions for over 1000 dollar, you game will still be missing content and will not be complete, because you will be missing all the pre order exclusive items =P
Game packs should make a comeback, definitely. Fewer "tentacles" to mess up the game code. EA hasn't seemed to have caught on that lowering the price and raising the quality would bring more buyers. They're digital downloads, so there's no manufacturing overhead, just churn out useful game/stuff/kit packs! And, BTW… why in the hell, after a whole decade, do Sims not have CARS yet?! 🚗🚙
1:33 This is weird, because what I hear form the sims community is that werewolves is the most popular pack and the one pack with the least bugs and glitches. I don't think EA even gave Werewolves GP a chance to actually make money. One month between releases is just asking for a pack to get slaughtered in it's sleep, and one month is definitely not enough time for a pack to make money.
I would rather more game packs than EPs because while Dine Out and MWS are broken, they don't break the game like EPs do. You can still have a normal wedding or eat food at home or at a stall but with the different EPs, they tend to break other things in the game more often than not. (I don't mean the patches before the packs either.) You get good content and a world with a GP so EPs need to go.
I feel like people keep paying because it’s the only life simulator. I really hope Inzoi and Paralives are great games so we can finally have another option.
Expansion packs, especially when they cost as much as a full game… need to contain a full game’s worth of content. It’s more the price than the label. If it costs as much as a full game, it needs to be a full game. If it costs less than a full game then it should add to the established game. This is what an expansion pack is supposed to be. None of the expansion packs should cost as much as they do.
I only ever buy any pack for 50% off since anything above that is just robbery. But that, funnily enough, has the effect that I have most expansion pack (though the last one I bought was Growing Together), I rarely ever buy stuff packs, and only bought one kit ever because they're never on sale. I feel like they don't really have expansion packs as such anymore - they sized up game packs to expansion packs, stuff packs are the new game packs, and kits are the new stuff packs. It's quite sneaky, really.
They want to sell thats all 😂 Its a shame , I remember saving to buy game packs because it was less expensive than an expension pack… I feel really bad for young and new sims 4 players …
fairies game pack: can you turn your sim into a fairy? oh no. but you can go around to see and interact (maybe) with fairies (small colored light circles on the screen)
The fact it’s an American game and the game keeps breaking I am surprised no lawyer has taken a class action lawsuit against them because they keep putting out poor products and consumer laws in usa are supposed to protect us from this
Consumer laws do protect against profiteering, which is where people selling a product make money by methods considered unethical, like charging 50$ for a bottle of water in the middle of the desert. However, since video games are so inconcrete, it would be hard to convict EA of any wrongdoing. Possibly in the future consumer protection laws will be passed to prevent this sort of thing.
@@Kasserole1 I think that because they are selling a broken product it definitely should be looked into. I believe there are laws to protect companies from selling products that are not as advertised. So if you tell me these packs can work together and then it ruins the game that people paid money for there could be some type of lawsuit there. It may be hard to prove that they did it intentionally though. However, a lot of things in the USA currently is being sold in terrible condition/ quality and I have had enough of it. They need laws to protect us or they need to disclose the quality so consumers can make choices. The only way they will change is if you hit them in the pockets like most companies
I feel like it’s working for them because simmers are always desperately trying to rediscover their old spark for the sims 4 and have severe fomo so they constantly download mods and buy every dlc to ‘fix’ the game
It's crazy to think that 10 years ago I was genuinely looking forward to playing Sims 4, had the CAS demo etc Now the game still is the latest one going, but i've barely touched it in years, played 2 and 3 more in the last 5 years, despite the commercial success they've clearly had it's been a big let down personally.
i have no reason to justify why I keep purchasing any packs except for the reason I cant help but feel like my game is incomplete if I don't have them all LOL
Fairys, if they ever come out, will be My First Fairy Occult Stuff pack, with one or two little gameplay things, but heavily reliant on having the Realm of Magic game pack, which they already kind of did with Crystal Creations.
The fairies stuff in recent packs are the LEFTOVER assets from the DISCONTINUED fairies medieval fantasy pack that was supposed to come out last spring...then came the medieval castle kit, the magical gem pack, and NONSTOP BUTTERFLIES. TOLD Y'ALL.:P
I feel like sims 4 makes some of the packs that should be base game instead of making it a pack just for 39.99 dollars💀💀 like for example parenthood, high school pack paying that much just for a high school is crazy
Highschool years was trash ANYWAY! Sims 4 needs mods to be enjoyable fr And the fact you can't make your own university in Discovery University urks me The lack of customization of the worlds, and control over simple things like NPCs, jobs, NPC clothing, uniforms, etc pisses me off cause of all the false advertising.
The problem is that the base game is now free, so what you're saying is they should add all that for free. A lot of Growing Together (infants) and Lovestruck (relationship handling) did end up in the base game as it is.
I've been playing the sims since i was very young. Like, my older sib would stand behind me and tell me how to play the original the sims back when i was only playing games like reader rabbit and some barbie stuff. I've been playing so long that i would go maybe a month or two without playing due to burnout, but would always pick it up again. We bought everything for 1, almost everything for 2, pretty much everything for 3 and even bought some stuff from the store (like the chicken coop, canning, farming tractor, and the whole thing with the dragons that gave you a new world and so much stuff to use in it like an archery range and violin). Sims 4 i was much more discerning, only buying packs i could see myself using. And every time i'd have some disappointment. I remember in sims3 crops were good for something like 3 harvests, unlike 2 where you pick it once and it's gone. So when seasons came out for sims3, you had to pay attention to when you planted and harvested to ensure you'd get the most from your crops before they died or froze. Sims4 base game itself disappointed me since the crops just continued forever and you always got so much produce from them it was worthless to even have them. When i got the werewolf pack, i was excited for it, but then teen sims especially would be unable to attend school because they were always turning into wolves and leaving early, no matter what i did. Now, whenever i want to play the game, just dealing eith the ea app is enough for me to not even load up the game. I got the jewelry pack a bit after it came out because i liked almost everything in the pack and they said they'd fixed the body morphing when wearing jewelry bug... and i just haven't wanted to deal with the effort of playing again after that. I don't think i can go back to previous games because i miss the changes to how sims are (last time i played 3 i was no longer willing to just have a single sim that i like the appearance of, and i just stared in despair at the random pregnancy outfit that looked awful and i missed the frames and gender things that had been added to 4) and they don't run well on my computer (sims2 particularily was a lot of graphical glitches and sims3 made my pc run _hot_ and the lag was somehow worse than sims4 at times). I was one of those people who was too willing to keep buying and playing, and even i can't handle this anymore, so they're really losing it
Not gonna lie, I have been guilty of buying a pack for one feature. I got Discover University for bikes because they are handy. I wanted it eventually, but was in no rush but it was on of the first things I grabbed at a decent sale price. But I actually wanted the whole discover university system just was in no rush about it. Really wanting the bikes was really what got me to purchase. I still buy what I think is worth the money and many of the EPs don’t feel worth the money.
I didn't even realise bikes were a Discover University feature until I saw this. Much like shower woohoo I guess. The actual degree gameplay is terrible.
I think the biggest thing that are affecting stuff and game packs is the kits. In 2018, 2019, and 2020 there were five packs released. And they all have two expansion packs and the three years swap between two stuff packs and two game packs. Then in 2021 they first release Paranormal in January as the only stuff pack and then one game pack and one expansion pack, the other 9 packs are kits. 2022, no stuff packs, and then my wedding stories/werewolves and high school years. And 8 kits. 2023 two and a half years later we get a stuff pack again, 3 expansion packs and 8 kits. 2024 sees stuff packs return in February, 1 expansion pack, and so far 6 kits. So based on this I'm assuming we'll see be seeing a game pack appearing by the end of the year or beginning of 2025, and potentially another expansion pack.
High School years was definately a Rush Job, like the whiteboard? I've never, NEVER been to a school that uses those kinds of whiteboards, also just the overall limits of what that pack offered were very miniscule, the fact that they locked the High School lot type to being only available to only ONE lot in ONE map/world was extremely annoying, the fact that you couldn't do a lot of things that are common in most high schools, The fact that you couldn't choose which classes to put your teen sims in, the class sizes, and the overall vibe of High School years is very lackluster at it's core. The only way I was able to enjoy High School years was with the help of Mods.
for the last couple years i haven’t bought a sims 4 pack and have been strictly playing sims 3. TS3 lag is more bearable for me since it’s an older game, and it’s so good i can forgive it
There's no big mystery to unravel here. It's just EA milking their cash cow for as much as they can get away with and providing less content in the process.
Gameplaypacks never should´ve been a thing, only Expansion and Stuff Packs. I mean let´s be real many of the Gameplaypacks should be part of Expansion Packs like Werewolfves and Vampires and Spellcasters in one big "Supernatural" Expansionpack together with the ghost stuffpack. Or "Dine Out" should´ve been included in "Get to Work"
I am still so mad at school years. I never played the sims 4. I always sticked to the sims 3 but I started to play the sims 4 because of this expension. It looked so fun to play a teenagers. Having them being a bully or maybe like a nerd and stuff like that. Than it released and waw. That was so bad. I feel like this was the expension with the most potential. Wich is really sad because it was absolutely horrible ToT
@@Paramore_your_Decode It’s so hard to get a refund at EA 😭 anyway my mom likes the pack (She has very low standards) so I guess it wasn’t a total waste of money.
I still want more game packs like Jungle Adventure, a world to vacation to and explore. I think an Egypt themed world work great, and maybe an India themed world. Both with a unique town and ruins to explore.
I’m definitely guilty of buying literally every pack even tho i haven’t always agreed with the size and stuff because i’ve had the money, but lately i’ve been so disappointed with the packs that I’m done. Absolutely not buying anything more and I wish I could return some of the packs I’ve bought but oh well. I’ll return to (the best) ts3 for now until I see an upgrade (which is sadly unlikely) for ts4.
Yes, especially if people keep buying. They’ll keep turning off comments sections and saying “buy we’re in the green”. Until it goes red, they won’t care.
Problem with their current system is they are losing the Whales. I've probably been with the Sims 4 for shy of 10 years. I used to get every pack but now I'm hesitant to even open the game yet alone get packs for it. Many of the whales likely part of the Sims community, something EA can't regulate. If they keep hearing about more bugs & bad quality packs. The Sims will die, they will be relying on less informed players who will likely quickly become informed. They need to boost moral in the community, a task that won't be easy due to the state of the game.
$70 in NZ. Last 3 expansions are $70 nzd. (For rent, horse and lovestruck) and for rent has been cheeky increased to $70 at some point cos when I bought it was cheaper than that on launch.
Neither Lovestruck, For Rent and Growing Together or Snowy Escape or Island Living. None of these are EP size of content and Growing Together is basically essential base game content sold as an extra.
For comparison LoveStruck EP is $60 in Aus and Cyberpunk is $44… their prices are insane. But we’ve been starved of real, meaningful gameplay for 10years we keep coming back hoping this will be the one that makes TS4 make sense.
I miss game packs. They were the right price for a decent amount of content. I recently looked at other games to play and was absolutely amazed how much cheaper expansions of other games are. Even further, what fun games you can buy for just twenty bucks. EA really brainwashed the sims community.
if you guys want the perspective of how games cost in brazil: curently on Steam, there is a sale, so every ts4 dlc is with discount except lovestruk. the normal cost of a expention pack is R$ 139,00, with lovestruck is costing R$ 179,00 for no reason planet coaster (full game) costs R$ 80,00. is not on sale, this is the price of the game planet zoo (full game and far more complex than coaster) is R$ 100,00. also not on sale, is actually very cheap for the amount of content you get. The witcher trilogy (3 games) normally costs R$ 206,00 and is currently onn sale with 80% off. is much more worth it than any dls for the sims. All the wicher games are with huge discounts, a lot more than the sims dlcs
I think the sims team knows the game is unplayable at this point and are making expansion packs that have less gameplay to desperately reduce the game constantly breaking after each release. Then they shove CAS and build mode into it, add an empty world and call it a day
I feel that they just slapped items in Horse Pack to claim it was an expansion pack. Such as goats and sheep? Why are they in a horse pack? They needed to be in a farming pack like Cottage Living. imho, Werewolves is the best large pack that has come out since before the Pandemic.
So, I stopped playing Sims 4, went back to mainly 1 and 3. Having said that for many years I did play 4, and the thing is that i bought all the expansions, all the gamepacks, all the stuffpacks, all of that, because I hoped it would make the game BETTER. It took me a long time to decide to cut my losses and just go back to the games that I loved. I'm not saying this to sell my channel, but today on Twitch I streamed Sims 1 for almost 7 hours and didn't get bored. There are awesome things in Sims 1 that are not in any of the others, and after 25 years I still love it sooo much. I really don't think people will be saying that about Sims 4. I sincerely don't think 25 years from now they will say it was the best game ever and still fun and has stuff in it unique to the other Sims games that they just can't play without, I just don't think they will. And after all the money invested, I find that really sad.
I love TS1! I love all the stuff in the making magic pack i always find something new. I play 3 also showtime was my fave pack. I feel similarly about ts4. Kept buying hoping the gameplay would be better but it keeps feeling like redone menus and animations of the same things over and over. I played world adventures TS3 recently and realized how easy the puzzles were on Jungle Adventure TS4, and how small 4s world is compared to the 3 worlds they give you in world adventures 😭 i left playing TS4 in may
@@rosariojailene OMG! I need to go back to WA, it was sooooo fun! I am doing superstar in TS1 right now and I had never done it all the way before, there are still things in TS1 I haven't done!!! I love this game!
My completely two cents, Game packs cost more than it's worth making, and its poor brand recognition also doesn't help. Considering later Game packs also offer a tiny world and quite sophisticated cooperative game systems. It makes more sense to just "do more stuffs into it" and shift it into an EP. Simmers have been more and more underwhelmed with recent EPs that didn't really offer enough content to be considered "worth money" for an expansion. Island Living for some has said it should be a Game pack instead, or the notorious Horse Ranch pack can also be scaled down significantly and be made as a Game pack. Growing Together too. I do understand that for whatever The Sims 4 is, it costs a lot more money and resources to make extensions and expansion packs for, but nobody but EA is to blame since nobody forced them to use an "online game" to build The Sims 4 in the first place.
Any thoughts on Sims 4 10 year Anniversary on 09/02/2024? EA has a sale right now on expansion and the like until 08/19 so I'm curious if they're planning anything?
I guess you would call me a whale. I bought every pack in the space of a few months for around £600-700 and the only reason I waited that long was I was just waiting to get every pack on sale. And this was around the time Crystal Creations came out. I hadn't intended to buy every pack but I have the money and if almost every pack has one thing that I want so I bought it. It's usually things like decent male CAS, especially hair. At the time, Home Chef Hustle had the best "normal" male hair in the game. Luckily it was a good pack and only a cheap stuff pack so it wasn't a big deal but if it was a brand new expansion at full price and I hated everything else, I still would have paid 35 for it because male CAS is so sh-t in this game. I bought Lovestruck at full price and it's the first time I really regret spending the money because there are literally zero redeeming features for me. There isn't one "must-have" feature or item and even that would be fine but the gameplay makes romance so awful that I'm going to uninstall it. It is so in your face and conflicts with all the other systems when randomizing sims like you can have the active trait and dislike high energy sims with Growing Together and then have have High Energy Sims as a turn off or turn on in Lovestruck. Romance styles are also randomized so you can like WooHoo but not physical intimacy like kissing or like flirting but dislike affection (whisper sweets nothings) and every one you flirt with for 5 minutes thinks you're basically married and expects you to satisfy them romantically ""ROMANTIC SATISFACTION BEGINS!!", and you have to ask them about it and only perform the interactions they like even if they don't make sense like it's a full time job or they say you're being mean and will break up with you even if you never asked to be "romantic partners", it's so... the whole thing gives me the ick and it's so unnatural and intrusive. That was a long way of me saying I agree game packs are better because expansion packs have bloated and intrusive features you can't turn off or ignore to justify their price and they make the game worse. Wedding Stories is worth it just so I can live up in the mountains looking down at the sea and play a whole year with no snow and very little rain having seasons installed. (I know you love snow but I literally only want it on Christmas day). I can just ignore the broken weddings and elope or now do the base game weddings although after the romantic boundaries update, I think I'll just stay celibate. I don't want more expansions because they f-ck up the game. I just want more CAS and BB and a few fun little gameplay features that you can basically ignore. Playing with all the packs installed is a nightmare. Even on a new Sim my pie menu is insane.
@@highest8002 You assume wrong. I'm a PC player and I already said that if I like it I buy it. It's not just CAS it's BB as well. And I do use CC (I've even made some) but not a whole lot because it stands out too much as obviously being CC. Also, apart from a few creators, the male CC I've come across is way too gen-z for me.
@rosariojailene Same. In my current LP, I just made 5 werewolves, a father, his sons, youngest sons best friend, and an on and off again girlfriend as a "pretend" pack living in Moonwood. It's been chaotic fun thus far
@@Aahi yesss i love that. I have a werewolf named Bo Frey i went with the auto name it gave me lol and he has no house i like playing in weird personal challenge ways 🤣 since he can go to the bathroom and sleep outside he doesnt really need a bed or a toilet 🤣 he goes outside and gets in werewolf brawls and then he owns a retail shop selling furniture i have him make from the fabricator from eco living so he keeps getting richer bc he has no bills 🤣 i keep him mostly in wolf form
@@Aahi i think so, my gallery ID is HeyItsSerelet i havent been on the game in a bit but i can load it up and check. I usually put my collections and sims in the gallery now just in case i lose a save. I lost a big super sim file once when my computer broke lol never againnn
i think one of the biggest issues is the fact that there's not really a game like it on the market (correct me if I'm wrong on that) or at the very least not a well known one like the sims. their reputation is horrible but simmers keep coming back because where else would they go? more than anything i just wish EA would actually care what their fan base thinks. the game is so horribly broken and as a result when i do play its usually only for a week or two before i drop the game for a few months again. i want to have the same love for this game as i did when i was little playing TS3. I miss townie stories so much. i know TS4 is a build your own story kind of game but its so overwhelming not to mention most of it is playing pretend. I'm making stories in my head but my sims will never ever act accordingly because its just not in the game, sure i can add personality traits and likes and dislikes but that does nothing aside from maybe a moodlet. TS4 could've been a great game, but ultimately it just feels like a cash grab due to all the DLC for it. I absolutely LOVED TS3, and i never had an expansions for it, it felt like a complete game, whereas TS4 base game gets so boring and repetitive.
This EA greed makes me so grateful for Concerned Ape and other indie devs who work tirelessly to make amazing games and just keep updating them and working at them. Sure Stardew Valley is entirely different as a game from The Sims, but I’ve never had to pay for anything aside from the game and in the past eight years we’ve received major updates for free. I can’t imagine EA creating anything even half as expansive on the original game as Ginger Island was, nevermind giving it away for free. I hope stuff gets better for the Sims, but if not I’m perfectly happy to keep playing indie games :)
I was interested in buying a werewolfs pack back then. But when it turned out that the werewolfs would look like furry cats I refused to buy that. The mods I've seen which try to make them look better are not too convincing imo... not enough to pay EA for their ugly furry shit. (People in the furry community are often quite nice and pleasant, and very supportive of art and creators, which I appreciate greatly... but I just can't stand this cartoony cringy art style that many furries use. I wanted to have scary werewolfs...) Hearing you say that this werewolf DLC was the last gamepack they made, makes me wonder if more people are sharing my opinion about the art style. I can't think of any other reason why this DLC flopped...
i think if fairies come, it being an expansion could work, but with other things in it, but not as an after thought, like island living with mermaids. they could have fairies + maybe royalty, or maybe making potions or magic plants with different properties like crystals that can be activated with fairy powers???
The problem from the start was the number of categories which should have been limited to 2 so that way gp and ep are not confusing. Personally there are so many packs that should have came altogether or in base game. Horse ranch and cottage living in 1 pack All occult packs in 1 Get to work with dream home decor photography career related packs and cats and dogs. I would have made cat and dogs part of get to work because the focus of these animals would be service oriented and it would affect your sims mental state. For example burglars would have been so good as a concept because sims can have trauma but pets can help with your mental health and it would be so fun to pick certain types of animals for certain situations. Like guard dogs to protect your home or service dogs for elders. I would have added the psychology career and you can bring your pet to work to help patients. Jungle adventure island living and snowy escape as a culture adventure ep Stuff packs are just little extra accessories to the ep but they would cost no more than $5.00 mostly CAS or build stuff In conclusion there shouldn’t be ep gp sp kits, just ep and sp
They definitely could make faeries an expansion pack because if they put the effort into it it would be very in deph and almost feel like a second game (new world, new occult types, new careers) would be more than horse ranch lol
I'm an expat living in NZ and I am certainly not buying a NZD 70 expansion pack! I haven't bought any packs since horse ranch as it's just way too expensive now. EA are really ripping us all off not just here in NZ! I didn't even update this time since the previous bug fix nearly broke my game and caused havoc with all my mods and CC and I'm so glad I did that, as I've been very happily playing my game offline with the Simda Dating App and Wonderful Whims mods. I will prob just keep playing offline for the rest of this year. I do love the TS4 but I couldn't play it without mods or CC, as they basically fix the very broken game. Always agree with everything you say Satch, love watching your vids, it's a highlight for me everyday.
I truly hope they turn it around and make expansion packs more meaningful like they used to be a long, long time ago bc I want the Sims to stick around forever. 😢
My feelings about all the packs has been the same since the first one came out. It will have maybe one or two (on purpose) mechanical changes, a bunch of colors or tiny items that are new, and soooooooooo many bugs. Realizing that they were patching the bugs from the packs into the base game was a pretty big surprise though. Got a laugh out of me. 10 years on, I still think TS3 is a more complete game. That's kind of embarrassing. I Hodd Toward crap for Skyrim, but ts4 is just as bad/worse IMHO.
I agree expansion packs lately are just Game Pack worth of stuff but I buy them because i like getting a big world. What I miss the most about the older Sim Games is the create a world feature from the Sims 2
I have no idea what happened to refresh’s. They were such a good idea. Like go back and fix/make the packs you had to rush (like HSY’S) worth the money and not even that… but worth the gameplay.
From what I could find Lovestruck EP costs $40 and Werewolves GP $14. So to earn the same amount about 3 people have to buy Werewolves and only 1 Lovestruck. So it is more profitable to create EP for $40 than GP for $14. In larger games (with different versions of Ultimate etc.) this difference is sometimes 1 to 10.
Maybe the reason they were released so close to one another (and why the High School pack was so empty) was because they were originally 1 pack that they split (for financial reasons?) And that it was going to be one expansion pack based on something like Teen Wolf, you know like how Strangerville had a narrative and story.... who knows though.
Stop buying sims packs in general is the best decision I ever did, I feel free lol. I have zero trust in the company left. I just miss the sims 2 and 3 era when you at least got some value for your money.
I gave up on the Sims4, havent touched it in a while. but it would be cool if there was a Band Game Pack where you can perform concerts and stuff with other sims
Mermaids were in an EP so I could see Fairies coming in a different EP in the future too. I'd prefer them be a gamepack with lots of gameplay, but if we're only getting EPs forever now, then I'd rather have half-baked Fairies like we have with Mermaids instead of no Fairies at all. They could be a side feature of like, if we got Sims Medieval as a TS4 EP remake or something, or maybe a D&D style pack. I know a lot of people in the TTRPG community that use sims 4 + cc to make visuals of their characters, myself included. So imo there's a market for something like that.
I got the Base Game way back when it was first released and to this day, I regret it. I paid 50 Euros for an unfinished game that lacked everything. I played that game for 2 hours max - I never got bored that fast of a Sims game before. I bought a few packs/expansions after they were ridiculously cheap/on sale minus those stupid stuff packs. I stopped after Island Living. I can‘t be bothered anymore honestly. The graphics and the build mode intrigued me but‘s all just an empty shell, always has been. I agree with everything you said, Satch.
I don't know how everyone in the Sims community is ok with the expansion packs & the gamepacks,?!? They're overpriced and the base game gets neglected. So it's unfair to the people who play on the base game.
Honestly I feel like Growing Together, Seasons, Get to Work, and even Get Together should just all be bundled into the base game at this point. At least those are the packs I can think of that add some really in depth features that the base game should just have by default. Like clubs and cafes, family dynamics, ability to own shops and fun careers, weather….
I'm kind of glad they got rid of the game pack category, there's a lot of pack categories and the lines between a game pack and expansion seemed incredibly blurry. Always leaving me to wonder what exactly a game pack was supposed to be, vs an expansion. However, we all know the prices of the current game packs are probably going to raise to "meet the expansion standard". Instead of just lowering them to the game pack price despite all of them having about the same amount of content. But yeah, kinda glad I won't hear the debate on whether a pack should have released as a game pack or an expansion.
I agree with everything you said 🙌 also, the hype for these so called EPs seems to die off so quick nowadays! The groups I’m in, I’m barely seeing anyone talk about lovestruck and it’s only been out for like a month?! Having said that, I stupidly bought it (CDKeys thankfully) and have barely played it because I can’t be bothered to work around the bugs/glitches.
They're upselling game packs as expansion packs and people are buying them. Quite simple
Ironically they can potentially sell better that expansion packs as they are more affordable which eventually leads to better revenue from game packs.
Thisthisthisthis
True
They think that a world that barely has anything in it is still worth 50 bucks
🎯🎯🎯
Fairies would have been such a fun occult for Lovestruck and made it feel more like an expansion. Having the fairies work like little cupids that could create romance between 2 sims and cause mischief and drama would have been SO GOOD!
Most likely the Fae will be in the expansion pack if they ever released. It's at least due to the popularity in demand like horses. This is EA.
Omg yes or they didn't have to be called fairies specifically but Cupid's or Angels could have been such a cute Idea which they never used
They binned game packs off so they could upsell the same amount of content (or less) as an expansion, we know EA.
Same with seasons and cats and dogs, they should be base game.
Preach
Windernburg is like twice the size of tomarang.
@@Kasserole1 It is actually TRIPLE in size! Windenburg has 27 lots and Tomarang has only 9. That's insane and definitely not in a good way!
@@RbbzhWindenburg is bigger than EVERY world and they decided ‘simmers might think this is the norm, quick, pull it back, pull it back!!!’
@@BrightWulph very true! Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get the game in better shape before any big gameplay changes anyway
exactly. That's why I don't even bother buying most expansion packs at full price and just wait until it's like 50% sometimes more off
@@petrnovak7235 If I remember right they are like double the price of sims 2/3 EP and half the content.
I have never bought anything for the sims 4 unless it was at least 50% off
i have never bought anything and never will 🏴☠️
Even then it's too much. You're paying to add bugs and glitches to your game. What's the sense in that?
I for the first time tried a wedding in wedding stories and boy howdy that was an absolute disaster....what a damn mess that pack is

Heck yeah!)
On sales you can basically get three packs for the price of one regular priced EP so why wouldn’t you just wait? Well, first they dragged their feet on adding the EPs to the bundle system so much that a lot of people just gave up, and now they control how many bundles you can make by severely limiting the game or stuff packs released
I actually love the Werewolf pack. Its definitely one of the best packs in general.. I think Sims 4 packs peaked with Werewolves and Cottage living. Its just been down hill ever since..
Yesss its prob my fave to play with better than vampires for me
I agree too, Werewolves, even with a few of it's problems, was enjoyable enough to bring me back to the game for a Year easily when I had abandoned it for years before hand. but of course, Mods just enhance things (I prefer that Werewolves can be versatile, not all stuffed into one mould), I just think the Render art for the pack...left alot to be desired, because the Werewolves in game are NOT as bad as people may say, though I do admit they should have made the face length sliders a bit more expansive.
Lovestruck is $60 in Australia
Yep, it is. I won't be purchasing. $60 is ridiculous.
cd keys.
That's a tiny bit of an update for the price of 3 standard games on Steam... 🤣🤣🤣
Simple put your eye patch on and go "Arrrgh"
@@willa_888I mean things are already for the worst lol.
it is a manipulaive business strat... EA would do that with game packs. 100% make people missed them after years of not having one in time release a half-baked one. Profit
Yeah they may just be alternating. One year the extra pack is a stuff pack, the next it’s a game pack, then back to a stuff pack 🤷🏼♀️
OMG you mentioned two games from Poland
I think they will probably stuff watered-down fairies into a random expansion pack. Most likely one that otherwise wouldn’t sell.
the same thing happened with stuff packs, they stopped making them for a long time and now they are back at it
I would definitely love more game packs!
I love jungle adventure and strangerville as a game pack , because of the storyline and the immersion!
They want to sell thats all 😂
Its a shame , I remember saving to buy game packs because it was less expensive than an expension pack… I feel really bad for young and new sims 4 players …
fairies game pack:
can you turn your sim into a fairy? oh no. but you can go around to see and interact (maybe) with fairies (small colored light circles on the screen)
@@Sumayah-q1w yeah true.
FOR RENT was supposed to be a gamepack that's why it has 9 lots but they turned it into an expansion pack
I feel like it’s working for them because simmers are always desperately trying to rediscover their old spark for the sims 4 and have severe fomo so they constantly download mods and buy every dlc to ‘fix’ the game
It's crazy to think that 10 years ago I was genuinely looking forward to playing Sims 4, had the CAS demo etc
Now the game still is the latest one going, but i've barely touched it in years, played 2 and 3 more in the last 5 years, despite the commercial success they've clearly had it's been a big let down personally.
i have no reason to justify why I keep purchasing any packs except for the reason I cant help but feel like my game is incomplete if I don't have them all LOL
Sims 4 needs mods to be enjoyable fr
And the fact you can't make your own university in Discovery University urks me
The lack of customization of the worlds, and control over simple things like NPCs, jobs, NPC clothing, uniforms, etc pisses me off cause of all the false advertising.
@@icyvalleygurl2702 RIGHTTT and somehow the trailers look much better than the actual gameplay 💀
I was one of those people who was too willing to keep buying and playing, and even i can't handle this anymore, so they're really losing it
Prices have gone up here in Sweden as well. An EP used to be 429 SEK standard price, but Lovestruck is now being sold for 449 SEK.
Realistically they’re just upselling it into the expansion packs their greed is going out of control we gotta make a class action lawsuit y’all
Gameplaypacks never should´ve been a thing, only Expansion and Stuff Packs.
You should get a refund
So Are WE Susposed to get ignored, get scammed and receive the worst product quality because of shareholders expectations
Yes, especially if people keep buying. They’ll keep turning off comments sections and saying “buy we’re in the green”. Until it goes red, they won’t care.
That’s what happens when executives are so detached from reality and morals, they don’t care about their game or have a passion for it.
It's so gross
No wonder they add these incentives to buy it early at full price.
in theory i prefer EPs to GPs but think that EPs should be 2-3 GPS in a trench coat
Why would they do game packs when they can upsell them as expansion packs
Horse ranch should’ve never been an expansion pack
Yeah, It’s pretty niche. Should have been a game pack
Neither Lovestruck, For Rent and Growing Together or Snowy Escape or Island Living. None of these are EP size of content and Growing Together is basically essential base game content sold as an extra.
They didn't kill game pack. They killed extension pack and are selling game pack ar extension pack prise
I think fairies will be a game pack one day. I’m not an occult person so I don’t have many of the game packs.
if you guys want the perspective of how games cost in brazil:
curently on Steam, there is a sale, so every ts4 dlc is with discount except lovestruk. the normal cost of a expention pack is R$ 139,00, with lovestruck is costing R$ 179,00 for no reason
planet coaster (full game) costs R$ 80,00. is not on sale, this is the price of the game
planet zoo (full game and far more complex than coaster) is R$ 100,00. also not on sale, is actually very cheap for the amount of content you get.
They needed to be in a farming pack like Cottage Living. imho, Werewolves is the best large pack that has come out since before the Pandemic.
they didn’t kill them. they just started selling them as expansions 🤭
9th of February is long past.
I'm sorry, but it feels like there is nothing new to do in Lovestruck.
In NZ love struck is $70, not only that but they upped for rent and horse ranch to those higher prices even tho they were released at the normal $50
I will assume you are a console player, otherwise I see no point in getting packs solely for CAS instead of free custom content from internet
Maxis Match don't stand out imo. But it's alright if you're "just" play it without cc :3 @@saccarius
I'm one of those that bought Werewolves. I love everything about it, CAS and Build items i use all the time.
Sameee i dont use the cas and build really but i love playing as werewolf sims
@rosariojailene Ay! That sounds like fun, too... I'll try that. Thanks for the idea😀😉. Is Bo Frey on the gallery, or maybe I'll make my own sim if not
@@Aahi i think so, my gallery ID is HeyItsSerelet i havent been on the game in a bit but i can load it up and check.
Why cant they make a bug fix themed game pack, i would buy it with all my money
I wanted to have scary werewolfs...)
Hearing you say that this werewolf DLC was the last gamepack they made, makes me wonder if more people are sharing my opinion about the art style. I can't think of any other reason why this DLC flopped...
Has anyone else having trouble logging into the EA app!! I can’t play the sims cause I can’t EVEN GET ON THE APP. I’ve tried everything :(
For the past month I’ve also had issues! I have to restart my pc at least 3 times before it launches 🙄 they can’t even get that right 😅
i think if fairies come, it being an expansion could work, but with other things in it, but not as an after thought, like island living with mermaids. they could have fairies + maybe royalty, or maybe making potions or magic plants with different properties like crystals that can be activated with fairy powers???
The problem from the start was the number of categories which should have been limited to 2 so that way gp and ep are not confusing.
Personally there are so many packs that should have came altogether or in base game.
Horse ranch and cottage living in 1 pack
All occult packs in 1
Get to work with dream home decor photography career related packs and cats and dogs.
Jungle adventure island living and snowy escape as a culture adventure ep
Stuff packs are just little extra accessories to the ep but they would cost no more than $5.00 mostly CAS or build stuff
In conclusion there shouldn’t be ep gp sp kits, just ep and sp
They didn't cancel game packs. They cancelled expansion packs. The new name for the game packs is expansion packs!
I hardly even touch sims 4 anymore, just love hearing this dude's thoughts on the franchise as a whole, lol.
Honestly the line between gp and ep have always felt so blurry to me and never really justified.
Gamepaks are gone? Oh darn, now I guess they'll have to PUT MORE IN THE BASE GAME!! Just a thought. 😑
I don't know how everyone in the Sims community is ok with the expansion packs & the gamepacks,?!? They're overpriced and the base game gets neglected. So it's unfair to the people who play on the base game.
New Zealand simmer here. Currently the price for Lovestruck (and For Rent - if it’s not on sale) is $70
Honestly I feel like Growing Together, Seasons, Get to Work, and even Get Together should just all be bundled into the base game at this point.
