    I recommend that one hold the bottom nut with your wrench. Then use the ratchet/socket to loosen the top nut. Vise grips are of course an option... the option of last resort. 🙂 Excellent tip about the silicone grease. When reinstalling the new coils, add a bit of dielectric silicone grease...so they won't be so hard to get out for the next guy. Finally, I number my coils before I remove them... IF only one reads bad, you can know which one to toss. The spares might save your bacon, if one of your fancy new coils is DOA. Thanks for the video! Good work.

    These ignition coils were a pain in the as to pull out! They're known to be stuck on there, mine were GLUED on there. I heard about an owner who took their Jetta to a mechanic for a spark plug/coil change and they told him they couldn't pull them off, his car sat for weeks until he towed it to his house and got them off himself.
    If anyone is experiencing that, I pulled the top diode off the old coils (took alot of strength) and blew compressed air into the cylinder. After a few blows with compressed air they should pop out! You'll break the old ignition coils but whatever, you're changing them out.
    Avoid this buy adhering to the maintenance schedule ad using dielectric grease!
    Love your videos!

      I appreciate all the info. Yes dielectric grease is good for a lot of things. Especially coil packs. A lot of times they won’t come out unless you break them. But if they break at least they aren’t too awful expensive to replace. Hopefully things run well now. I notice a smoother idol and back to normal gas mileage. I had 85000 miles on the OEM coils. It was time. Have a good one and thanks again 💯👍🏼😎

    Thanks so much for this video! I have a 15 Passat 1.8 TSI and I’m about to replace the coil tomorrow. AutoZone scanned the CEL code and found out to be the 3rd valve that’s misfiring so I’m just gonna replace that one for now due to budget reasons. This video has really helped. Nice and thorough. Hopefully everything goes well for me.

      Thank you and good luck. I appreciate you watching the video. You may want to change the spark plug also. If the coil doesn’t fix it. Just be careful removing the ground wire. Don’t let it spin and snap off. Just unscrew it and hold it at the same time. Have a good one and thanks again 👍🏼😎💯

      @@grind-it-outI went and got the 3rd valve coil replaced. Prior to that I had shop replace all 4 spark plugs. However that didn’t fix the problem, the CEL light, EPC light as well as traction light are all still on and the car still limps and jerks when going in and out of throttle. Not sure what could be problem now?

      🤔. Not sure what could be the issue. Run a OBD scan. It could be vacuum leak somewhere.

    Apparently it helps to be ambidextrous. Good video of an easy upgrade. Like you always say . . . be patient and don't force anything.

    Did you buy your front grille? Or did you wrap it black? Would love to see a video on it as I want to do the same as you!

    Thank you for the info and video. Question for you....have you seen a difference with the CTS air intake? Performance? Fuel?

    • @grind-it-out
      @grind-it-out  6 месяцев назад +2

      Not really a difference. It’s unnoticeable. It’s possible maybe a little but it’s really just for the turbo sound. Thank you for watching I appreciate it 👍🏼💯😎

    Hey I just recently bought a 2014 Passat and heard from my uncle that the timing belt usually starts to have issues and it can be complicated to fix. Do you think you could make a video on how to fix or prevent a break? Thanks for the great content!

      I’ve never done the timing on this car. But timing is an issue at some point. Not sure I’m ready to take that on yet. 😅
