  • Hey guys! Ever wondered if Baptism is just a mere symbol or something more? Listen to this teaching as I communicate with scripture that the early church never truly saw it as a symbol but a reality of the believers journey to faith.

I've been baptized several times trying to get free, kind of putting the cart before the horse.

In this message, my focus was to emphasize that baptism isn't a symbol. When we come into that water with repentance and faith, there is true freedom.
Baptism in itself can't do anything without faith in Jesus. What I'm saying is that there is many who baptize over and over and see no real freedom because they put their faith in the baptism itself and not Jesus.
Allen, I don't know what you have personally been through but if there has been repentance in your baptism, if there has been faith, start believing completely in your freedom.

After watching this video, I find that the importance of baptism appears to elevate the act to a level of necessity for salvation, which is not consistent with the broader teaching of the New Testament. While baptism is an important and commanded ordinance for believers (Matthew 28:19-20), Scripture indicates that it is not the means by which one is saved. Instead, baptism serves as a public declaration and symbol of the salvation that has already been received by faith in Jesus Christ.
The emphasis on baptism as a necessary completion of faith can lead to confusion about the nature of grace, which is freely given and not dependent on any human act, including baptism (Ephesians 2:8-9). Spiritual baptism should be emphasized; it’s about accepting Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death on the cross. When we place our faith in Jesus, His blood purifies us from all sin (1 John 1:7). His blood is sufficient to cleanse us fully and eternally.
The story of the thief on the cross exemplifies the truth of spiritual baptism. Even though the thief was not water baptized, Jesus assured him that he would be with Him in paradise (Luke 23:39-43). This demonstrates that it is not the act of water baptism that saves us, but our faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross. This inward transformation is the work of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5).
While baptism is significant, it should be viewed as an outward expression of the inward reality of salvation, which is rooted in faith alone.

Thanks for taking the time to post your comments and concerns. I see your sincerity in what your posting, I truly appreciate it.
So, just to clarify. What I am saying to what I'm not saying.
We are saved by Grace through Faith.
Grace is a free Gift, it also enables us to see God and to follow him.
Faith is our confidence and the revelation of the cross of Christ, but Faith has works. You can see this through scripture.
Our salvation begins when we believe in the Blood of Christ, ie the Cross.
Now it's important to see that we are made right with God because of this. (Righteousness imputed to us)
If Faith is working, then we are commanded by great commission to baptize. Not symbolically but in obedience to the faith. Romans 1:5.
Again, I say the early church never practice symbolic baptism but baptism dealt with forgiveness of sins, it dealt with the participation of putting to death the old life. Not symbolic. Baptism is the completion of our faith. It is part of the journey of salvation. It is the full gospel message.
