  • First On The Scene At The Lindt Cafe Siege - Damian Loone | I Catch Killers
Retired detective Damian Loone has taken DNA evidence around the world to be tested, he’s negotiated with armed hostage takers and he’s investigated the disappearance of three-year-old Cheryl Grimmer. But the case that took the wind out of him was that of the 2014 Lindt Cafe Siege - where 18 people were held hostage by a lone gunman in Sydney’s CBD, and he was among those first on scene.

Before lindt cafe ..there was a practice run the man did with locals of the kings cross Astoria hotel in Darlinghurst .. was basicly ignored due to everyone involved being homeless ,involved in drugs and crime ect ..and the nature and ways of these types to not talk to police . .even in life threatening situations

NSW Police and bossers were a disgrace in the Lindt Cafe Siege . As an ex SASR member, the SASR as was proven in the following court case should have been called in.

I lived in war for ten years I was in the Serbian military I was in anti bio warfare we dealt with teorism no one know the outcome of a hostage situation it’s always 50/50 you should know that as an ex SASR

@@theimpaler5034 you may be right & I don't doubt that BUT when people are ignored, information is disregarded, forgotten about & not passed on ESPECIALLY information secretly coming from inside the cafe & from police who know the hostage taker & his crimes personally frequently dealing with him, tactical police officers right outside the cafe who can hear & see inside were repeatedly ignored just to name a SMALL number of bad decisions that were made during this seige, it drastically reduces a positive outcome.
The people in charge of this situation messed up really really badly. If they had done a better job, those who were killed may have had a better chance of survival BUT the people in charge actions didn't give the victims that chance.

The detective podcasts and also the podcasts with the survivors or family of the survivors are always sad to watch but they do give us listeners a reality check of the life outside
