This song is based in the tragic murder of Sophie Lancaster, who was kicked to death just because the way she (and her boyfriend) looked, her boyfriend survived but she didn't make it. I invite you to read about it, the song makes much more sense and meaning once you know all the story behind it. The couple holding the picture at the beginning of the song are Sophie's parents, and of course, the girl on the picture is Shophie. Charlotte learned about Sophie story a little while after it happened, and she saw a little movie on internet (ruclips.net/video/qW2ve6_BkRA/видео.html) and she wanted to make a song in memory of her.
It's difficult for me not to drop a few tears when talking about it while listening to the song. Nice reaction
This song resonates particularly strongly in my home city (Manchester) because of the simple fact that Sophie was a well known and well liked part of our metal community, and during the Delain show earlier this year (prior to the pandemic) in Manchester, we practically blew the roof off the venue with this song - Charlotte herself has commented on how visceral the reaction to this song is in the northern part of England, and how the feelings evoked by the lyrics seem so much more raw and undiluted. Sophie was one of our own. And, as the words go, we will not forget. #wearetheothers
Another great Dutch band with excellent musicians and a wonderful vocalist in Charlotte Wessels. She sounds fantastic here and she keeps getting better with each album they release. I love her and this band! Another great reaction Kelly! Cheers!
about Sophie Lancaster she and her boyfriend were attacked for no other reason than they were Goth... her boyfriend was knocked out first and she shielded him with her own body.. she was declared braindead and life support was cut.. died i believe 13 days later..
@@KellyDeaconKDzJOY Charlotte read about this incident a few years later and wrote this song about it. In honor of Sophie there is a charity to promote tolerance. Charlotte not wanting to release the song without her parents consent contacted the charity and the person that answered the phone was a huge fan of the band. She knew exactly who she was and made sure the message got through. They talked about the idea behind the song and her parents loved the message. Actually the people that held up the poster at the start of the video are her parents.
One of the most, if not THE most iconic Delain song. I always get wet eyes when listening to it . If you love Delain, you are very welcome to join our Delain Discord :) discord.gg/zxsf7RH Thanks for the reaction!
This version sounds a bit different from the album version. With this they de-metalled it to make it a bit more radio friendly. It brings out some different aspects of the song but I will, naturally, always prefer the straight-ahead rock version from the record.
If you're looking for another "message" song/video to react to, I'll offer up "Light Me Up" by Kobra and the Lotus. ruclips.net/video/HRfSEEtzxug/видео.html
2 were convicted of murder while the other 3 got a lesser charge... the 2 charged with murder(if still alive)get to come out in like 2 years or something.. so pretty much they get to start over in their early 30s.. pretty sad really

That story still gets me. They usually close their shows with this song and it's always an emotional moment.
I tear up every time I hear the first verse. This song is so important.

I need to look into the back story of Sophie Lancaster. I'm so honored to know Delain took it upon themselves to make this song. I loved it.
@@KellyDeaconKDzJOY there was a movie and its on youtube... murdered for being different
