Both machines work great Grey. I have 2 of the round nesco dehydrators. I also like to have frozen berries and vegetables to dehydrate it take the blanching process out of the mix. Thanks for this video Bless you and your family 🙏❤️🙏
I have a Corsair dehydrator but I do like this one as well. Well see how it does over the next year. I'm glad you mentioned that some folks didn't pick up that keyword "frozen" no blanching" necessary 😁👍💛
@@johnnyfinance yes I know they do they are fresh. But if you want to make tomato powder out of the no blanching necessary just put a couple pokes in the skin and dehydrate.
Hey, you stole my soap dispenser!😄 I don't eat blueberries so I haven't dehydrated any. My favorite fruit to dehydrate is apple slices. Speaking of them...it's time to eat some jars and make some fresh batches. I also love pineapple bits but it takes a long time to dry them. Have a fun weekend and enjoy the berries. 👍🌴🌞
🤣 you & the wife must have similar tastes! I've been thinking about doing apple slices as well. I want to make my own trail mixes and vacuum seal them for my hikes and go bags 😁 God bless and thank you JT 💛🙏
@@GreyManPrepping We shop at Costco! 😄 I drop my sliced apples into pineapple juice to keep them from turning brown. 😋😋 I make some plain and some with cinnamon. Don't forget the Granny Smiths for future apple pies.👍🥧
THANKS GREY! I just got a similar competitor. Going to test this weekend on 1. herbs 2. Cherry Tomatoes 3. If time...grapes. Entirely new thing for me, so I'm excited about the early part of the learning curve.
That's awesome! I've done cherry tomatoes as well 😁 in regards to rips comment my blueberries were frozen so the blanching wasn't necessary. Read Linda's comment. 😁👍 We all have a ton of information to share and there are many ways to get the job 😎🤘
I do rehydrate them and make smoothies. I also lightly grind them for muffins, cakes etc. I have also rehydrated them and made preserves from them. I also will cook them down, add sugar, thicken and use them for a crepe sauce. I fill the crepes with rehydrated blueberries or blueberries and whipped cream. You can also rehydrate them and mix with cream cheese for a crepe filling or a donut filling. You can also rehydrate them and lightly crush them and make jello out of them.
LMAO!!! I dehydrated wild blueberries. I don’t recommend using wild ones. I can’t find them after dehydrating them LOL I highly recommend poking a hole in each blueberry to speed things up however yours went great!! Good call on the O2 absorbers. If you’re on FB or other, let’s chat more about food preservation etc 😉
All in all, it was a success. Lots of different methods folks use, but so far this has worked pretty well for me the past few years. I had to play with the big machine 🤣
I have cheap or unbranded dehydrator on it's way to me. I had to go with what I could afford, but the reviews I did before buying ftom RUclips were favourable. I also buy bulk bargains to store for leaner times. I haven't got fruit yet, mostly curry and rice or kebabs, or chilli.

Afternoon Grey... once I tried to dehydrate grapes, but all I got was raisins...😉 Seriously, I love my dehydrator and dehydrate many foods, but love to make jerky in the dehydrator. I will also powder some of the dehydrated foods for flavorings and stocks. I like to add a desiccant pack along with my oxygen absorber to capture any moisture left in the dehydrated foods. 👍
I have a small Cosori that I like a lot. I've never dried blueberries before but have some in the freezer so may give it a try. I'd probably add them to my homemade granola or pancakes.
I have a cosori. Best investment I have made. The dehydrator you showed looks great. More trays are the best! Darcy from. “The Purposeful Pantry” is a great resource for dehydrating. I would recommend to everyone to do your homework in proper dehydrating. I’m not a fan of the vacuum sealer. Thanks.
Grey, you REALLY need to check out Darcy from The Purposeful Pantry! She talks about the necessity to condition your foods for 5-7 days. That has saved me so much money. Because during conditioning you might notice that your food isn’t as dry as you thought it was. And then you can just put it back into the dehydrator. But if you didn’t condition you wouldn’t notice and end up with a jar going moldy
Those dehydrated blueberries looks amazing. When you poured them in The bowl the sound reminded me of raisins f falling. Great snackers indeed. Thank you for sharing 😊😊
Not necessarily for frozen blueberries, technically they dont not have to be blanched before dehydrating them. Some people prefer to do this though and it won’t cause any problems. However, they will be tougher if you don't blanch them. Blanching them helps break the skin, which gives a softer dehydrated blueberry. I personally have not had much success with balancing mine with the water method, but with syrup blanching, I've had more success. Now where I may make the mistake in water blanching is the timing of roughly 10-30 seconds. I'll have to try it again and see if I play with the time and have better results.
I thought that you shouldn’t put oxygen absorbers in dehydrated food for risk of botulism if they aren’t dry enough! I thought you should only put desiccant packs in dehydrated food!?
"There are a few ways you can store dehydrated foods to extend the shelf life. The first is by using a mason jar, canning lid, and a canning jar sealing kit. The second is by using mylar bags with oxygen absorbers. Both are effective but based on how you use your dehydrated food you may like one over the other." I would use the smaller mesh inserts. Blueberries dehydrate very small and will fall through the larger wire mesh racks.
