I've played all the classes in the game to a certain extent and somehow, I feel like throwing spells at other players is one of the most fun things to do. However, wizard comes with a big issue that makes it a chore for me: if you want to be competitive, you have to do a lot of sitting or place campfires (which wizards are really slow at anyway) and clear mobs slowly with bad melee weapons. Old spell overload with meditate opened up the possibility to clear mobs with only spells, which is a fun experience by itself, and not worry about sitting too much. I was ready to play nothing but wizard for the rest of wipe. But now... I feel like it's back to sitting, campfires and slowly smacking goblins with crystal swords or staffs. I'm sure for a veteran like cngblade it's second nature, but I feel like I'd just rather play another class that makes pve and resetting not a chore so I can focus on pvp, which is the actual exciting part of the game. I have to try the rondel/crossbow build, though.
Hard agree with a lot of what you're saying here. Hopefully they can figure out a good mid point with wizard. When the game was still in play tests everyone played a lot slower so it didnt matter too much how long it took to recharge them (plus claritys were a ton more rampant). Now since game knowledge has naturally gotten bettter the game pace has also quicken leaving wizard in a weird spot. But also like you said the possiblity to being able to clear mobs with spells and regain them quick fixed that issue, but even as a veteran myself with 2000 hours it just feels really bad to have to go back to slow clearing modules with melee to save spells. Wizard as the class is now is still strong, but the gameplay loop seems bit scuffed and tedious tbh.
@@xStorn99x Ya I just wish I could be competitive and use spell for pve and pvp just dosnt fill like a mage more like half-ass melee for mobs. Im new to the game but its just not a fun loop for new player wanting to play with magic.
What about 5 spell with no overload and Meditate as the other ability? Build the kit around having the ability to disengage easily and reliably. Every time you succeed at a disengage, you are back to full spells in 4 seconds because meditate and you can go back before the opponent has time for a reset. It could be lick Mosquito Rogue but you are a Wizard. Would this be viable?
i mean i think 10 spell is still good in solo, i personally end up using all my spells cuz their all good in different situations, slow + ls for mid range kiting (think rouge etc) fireball/zap for mid range dps and icebolt if i need for longrange/close range escape, haste and invis ms / cast speed lets me make more risky plays lightorb for rouges/ areas where i cant see aswell (it is called dark and darker) and ignite bc it lets me be a threat in meele (enough of one atleast)
hey cng you see dagger + orb build being viable with early wipe no crafting gear/budget kits and even in normals or is it just a full juicer expensive build?
thoughts on taking instant cast for higher dps? i think it can really catch people off guard if you fireball them then instant cast another one and resourcefulness also reduces the cd pretty well so its up pretty often
Dagger is hard to say because of lack spell and you need to loose hp most of fight and campfire. The kit is also not cheap I would rate it lower than 10 spells prob 5-6

I think a good way to build wizard now is actually 10 spell overload. Cuz now if u want to do overload u need to build so much extra knowledge for casting speed (rather than for memory) So if ur casting speed is decent despite overload u already have the memory for 10spell also. So u bring sage, overload, the reduce to 1 cas time perk and quick chant. Either that, bonk wiz (which did not care about the change that much) Or just do focus wiz without overload (for solo and maaaaybe duo) Cuz the dmg on wiz has not been touched atall, the double fireball from focus still nukes.

Sucks, I had just started playing wizard, and I was using overload too. I'm not a beast at the game yet I've only just began playing so I need a few extra spells cuz I be missin a lot. Now my cast speed is so fuckin slow I just can't see myself playing this class anymore and it sucks cuz I was really enjoying it the most
Wizard damage got gutted, they added way more magic resist items, increased everyone's HP and reduced the number of spells wizard has. Simply put, wizards do not have the spell count to kill players without overload. The spell counts are based on the damage wizards were doing back in the ruins days, but that's just not the case any more. These nerfs have killed wizard in any competitive capacity
At the end of the day, the best build, is the one you enjoy playing the most ! Good luck in the dungeon (Last fight is crazy)

I think viable with only juice low gear you have no dex no dmg
