Magical power doesn’t suck CNG when I build 70% MPB it only takes 7 fireballs 5 zaps 6 ice bolts and 5 Lightning strikes to kill 1 warlock! That’s not bad at all
I feel like it can be good on some pieces, and yes you lose a roll but if you are wearing a really good kit it helps to have health, knowledge magical, power, and armor. Especially when you consider headshot damage on some spells
Will covers more in terms of mr and biff duration, but you will be able to roll higher values of mag power. So if you want to maximize damage that is the way to go. If you have reached the point of diminishing returns, then you want magic power bonus(magic damage bonus). It also depends what kind of spells you want to enhance. If you focus on single instances of burst damage(fireball, lightning)then damage bonus is better, but if you want alot of smaller instances of damage(missiles), then added and true magic damage is better. True damage being better vs targets with resistances but added being better vs targets with less resistances(added has a hitbox multiplier). It's all conditional. There is no one best way to build. Magic power ,which turns into magic damage bonus(should be called magic power bonus),also enhances clerics healing value. So to say that maic power is bad is absolultely just oversimplifying the game.
Everything you said is correct and even taking all these factors, it is still not and shouldn’t be a stat prio. Simplification is key to understanding, no Wizard player need to understand that magic power increases healing. There is no best build obviously but after playing solo Wizard for more than 3k hours I have tried many and saw many builds. Comparing Lightning strike with magic missiles was a bad example because if each bullet is doing +1 additional damage youre getting +11 from the spell > +3 from the lightning strike, a better example would have been ice bolt or zap
I know what you mean but I was comparing it to one missile because it has low base dmg, using zap or ice bolt brings nothing as they have 20 and 30 base dmg
This whole video also explains why Crystal sword fighter works, without actually mentioning it- magic damage bonus increases far faster than physical damage bonus- so a CS fighter can hit 50% pretty easy, and with 19 dash magic damage (which at first glance seems low) is actually 28 before multipliers, and few classes build MR. Well in those calculations you forget that magic weapon you use to cast spell add to base spell dmg. So for lightning strike base dmg will be 35 with white staff 39 with Legendary one. So that 10% will be higher than 3 additional true dmg. And those calculations are correct only when we forget about simple thing. Why not both? It may not be cheap but is still valuable increase for our dmg.
Cng you are not taking into account the base damage of the spellcasters book. That formula would be a little different. 33 damage with a white book* Mp, 34 green, 35 blue and so forth. I think it does make a big difference in this conversation. Especially if you are using a staff, increasing the base damage of a spell by up to 10-11.
I like to keep it simple like I said multiple times in the video. Most common scenario, blue spell book, is a 0,5 dmg difference with lighting strike in the example. But what if we build magical power only on those slots, we would build true magic damage on? so NOT on chest etc (hp is better) but on rings. I just looked up: a true magic damage epic ring of resolve: 460g. A 2 magic power epic ring of resolve (equal to 10% mpb) is only 220g. Its cheaper for about the same damage in the end maybe. or epic knowledge ring: true magic damage = 760g and 2 magic power only 320. obviosly for spells like zap the true magic damage is better, but its so much more expensive. We could get ressourcefullness rings with true magical damage, they are cheap only a little bit more expensive than magic power, but i dont know if thats good in the end. necklace: 3 will and 3 magic power = 300g right now. hat and back is around the same, true magic only a little bit more expensive, but i think True is better than 2 magic power. ___ So building hp/knowledge etc on the other pieces but magic power on rings?
with the new update making mobs have -25% magic damage reduction, does true magic actually do less damage to mobs than additional (not considering headshot / limb multipliers)?
hey, I noticed in your stash you have 7 cyclops rags. you have videos for how to best do troll on wizard, but I couldn't find one for cyclops. with brave hunter pants being available soon, I would love if you could make a cyclops video
Physical damage bonus is worth half the value of magical, for 10% magical you have 5% physical, so its kinda the same if not worst, thé only thing that make physical class play physical damage bonus is that they dont have to worry about knowledge, kinda Good vidéo tho
Wait so to have a 50% magical power bonus increases lightning strike by 15 dmg right. And I get some spells are less but I can get to 50% power bonus much cheaper than getting 15 true magical if that’s even possible to have. So if I’m not using magic missile or zap I should build magical power still. This is excepting the high MR classes. Also will gives MR
@@joshcompton1693yes you balance it out. You've said it, you're a dps class. You already have enough damage, just add some true and then focus on what you're lacking which is hp
CNG, I’m afraid you’re underestimating a factor here. The reason people build Magical Power in hope of doing damage is not because of a perk. It’s because it’s called “Magical Power”. I know, I know. Crazy stuff.
Very nice explanation. I was prioritizing those stats already but I didn't understand exactly how magic power worked. Now I know it's not even that worth having, much rather sell magic power items on the market and get something else for the money. A good video that would help the wizard community would be an update to what is a good budget kit for
4:27 because on warlock curse of pain is a DOT does this mean it benefits more from magical power than wizard does because even +1 damage to every tick is still good damage gains?
Nothing new here, it's the same as the relationship between Strength and Physical Power +1 Strength = +1 Physical Power and HP Boost +1 Will = +1 Magical Power and Magic Resist Boost Magical Power and Physical Power will always be inferior rolls to Will or Strength
So what I’m wondering is why the wizard hat itself is bad, in my head it’s cheap and +1 move speed over the cap along with the magical power. So is leather cap better because the vigor increase is MORE impactful than the magical power and the 1 move speed?
@@cngblade I see so because our vigor stat is so low the increase from the stat is higher, basically the other way around of will because wiz starts with 20.. If I’m understanding correctly
This video is such a nothing burger. People aren't sacrificing magic power for true damage. You cannot get true magic damage on mystic vestments, or rawhides. People stack true damage on TOP of magic power. Max health is also incredibly expensive because obviously it is a good roll, but it requires significant investment to actually pay off, since the amount of max hp you'd need to survive 1 extra melee hit is substantial.
True damage must be removed entirely form the game and i have been on that train for more than a year now... restricting the rolls on true damage helped but its just stalling the inevitable ... true damage has no place in the game and will actually help developers make better balance decisions.
I think your rationale for not building magical power is not very good. I.e lower base spell damage therefore not worth it cause felling axe has 54 base damage. Bro, Fireball, with an epic staff, has 25+8, 12+8, and 3+4 giving it a base damage of 60 that is then multiplied by magical power. So help me understand how it’s still not very good when the fireball’s base stats are higher than every other weapon in the game just about with an epic staff? True magical damage is better, but they aren’t in competition with each other. So??… wizard hats w/ true are cheaper than leather caps too.
1. You cast with staff 2. You assume you can hit direct fireball every time Wizard hat and magical power is cheaper in general because : it sucks They are not in competition but it’s not a stats you should prio, you look for max health instead. 🤨
@@cngblade I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just saying I think the rationale is flawed. Magic staff is an apples to apples comparison to another slow weapon like a Feling Axe, and with intense focus and close range you can hit quite a few headshots, which also scales better with magic power in this instance. I would be curious how much HP one needs to survive long enough to get the one extra spell cast off or win a trade. Or how much damage to guarantee you two shot with fireball vs three shot. Seeing those in action would be interesting to watch ;)
@@savrickgaming4173 Theory vs Reality is usually very very different I am aiming for reliability. I need to win 95% of my encounters, and I am not gambling my chances using an insta cast fb to the head. That's why insta cast is "bad". Arcane shield and the other side is reliable, it scales with mag power and true/add dmg, it saves your from melee all in / landmine. Cannot be blocked. It's same as building hp, HP is ALWAYS good. Damage is only good if you land something. Building/Playing everything around insta cast fb to the head is just not reliable and not a smart way to invest your money. 140 Hp is usually the sweet spot to tank 2 bardiche hits with arcane shield or 4-6 stabs from a rogue. Building dmg has its limit, you cannot avoid all incoming dmg even with perfect spacing or even cheats. Spells, bows, landmine exist. @@cngblade I believe you and think that’s the explanation your video was not quite hitting on. Also Sounds better than saying magic power doesn’t scale as well. :) thanks for explaining.
A big point I think you missed is that additional and true magic have additional or multiplied scaling on many wizard spells and effects. Magic missile is the obvious one, but fireball benefits on the hit, splash, and burn. Bonk builds benefit on the staffs magic damage, the ignite, and the ignite burn! I think even zap burn applies it.

Short answer : dmg ! , long answer : a hell lot of dmg to push them away !
how do you build rogue that does lots of poison dmg and true dmg
I feel like it's similar, as poison is small ticks so true dmg is probably best
___
So building hp/knowledge etc on the other pieces but magic power on rings?
Focus hp know, then true dmg all you need
with the new update making mobs have -25% magic damage reduction, does true magic actually do less damage to mobs than additional (not considering headshot / limb multipliers)?
Yes but if you build for PVP, true dmg is better
good video
Hey CNG, is additional magical damage worth building over true magical?
so if i wanted to be spell cleric would this be the same logic
Cleric has holy strike and judgment both are pretty high dmg and magical power increases healing so it’s ok to build it
hey, I noticed in your stash you have 7 cyclops rags. you have videos for how to best do troll on wizard, but I couldn't find one for cyclops. with brave hunter pants being available soon, I would love if you could make a cyclops video
Aahah, nice observation, I bought all of them I think they will increase in price when craft drops. I am not good for cyclop I done it once solo Only

Another banger
Physical damage bonus is worth half the value of magical, for 10% magical you have 5% physical, so its kinda the same if not worst, thé only thing that make physical class play physical damage bonus is that they dont have to worry about knowledge, kinda
Good vidéo tho
Wait so to have a 50% magical power bonus increases lightning strike by 15 dmg right. And I get some spells are less but I can get to 50% power bonus much cheaper than getting 15 true magical if that’s even possible to have. So if I’m not using magic missile or zap I should build magical power still. This is excepting the high MR classes. Also will gives MR
You'll be 100 hp, with same budget you can get 6 true dmg, 130 hp instead
@@cngblade so as a DPS class, I’m taking less damage for higher tankiness when there’s no way for me to be tanky anyway
@@joshcompton1693yes you balance it out. You've said it, you're a dps class. You already have enough damage, just add some true and then focus on what you're lacking which is hp
@@joshcompton1693You build what you need, not what you have already. Not running missile and zap is criminal already, but you do you
i like your videos. you sound a bit like french hjune (streamer)
I am french !
@@cngblade je sais, but you sound a bit like hjune, which is a american rust streamer.
CNG, I’m afraid you’re underestimating a factor here. The reason people build Magical Power in hope of doing damage is not because of a perk. It’s because it’s called “Magical Power”. I know, I know. Crazy stuff.
Ahah you got me there
Very nice explanation.
Let's say a dot is 1 dmg, you increase it by 10%... is that better than just adding a flat +1 to it
It's not +1 on every tick. You need to check wiki if the scaling is overall damage or per tick
What magical damage stat does the Crystal sword scale best off for magic melee damage?
when sorcerer comes out make a vid about why magicaal power is gonna be super good on it :>
2 goblin thumbs up
w explanation fr
You should talk about magic penetration next.
Hello! what perks spells are you recommending for gear score below 125
arcane mastery, quickchant, sage, staff mastery, fb mm invis zap ignite
Nothing new here, it's the same as the relationship between Strength and Physical Power
+1 Strength = +1 Physical Power and HP Boost
+1 Will = +1 Magical Power and Magic Resist Boost
Magical Power and Physical Power will always be inferior rolls to Will or Strength
Will also gives buff/debuff duration + magical interaction speed, nothing new right
You got a like & subscribe from me brother.
How many speed cast can dex give me and how many action speed should I have?
Build knowledge, get 60-70 cast speed, dex is cosmetic on book
Anti wizard propaganda. cng just wants to keep the bis gear prices low
I got a full stash of magical power gear

@@lilbenttwig1524that joke went over your head huh?
keep m true damage gear prices low :(
Love the vid thanks for the insight. I watched all the way through does that mean I’m x2 better than Tiktok brain rot? 😎
X4 because you commented
Does this similarly apply to physical dmg?
And what about Magical damage bonus, is it worth it or i should just focus on true mag/max health/ max health bonus?
Magic power bonus % rolls are for damage maxxing builds.
You build power until you hit 40 and then look for mpb% rolls
bro my brain is so fried cuz of the short form content that i took a break half wey true the video am i cooked?
Damnnnn
Iron mace doesn't know how to communicate.
So what I’m wondering is why the wizard hat itself is bad, in my head it’s cheap and +1 move speed over the cap along with the magical power.
So is leather cap better because the vigor increase is MORE impactful than the magical power and the 1 move speed?
Wizard has low vigor, a purple leather cap is 10 hp + better armor + better headshot reduction
@@cngblade I see so because our vigor stat is so low the increase from the stat is higher, basically the other way around of will because wiz starts with 20.. If I’m understanding correctly
@@Chulipp Only the first part of what you said, will has no loss in value up to 40. Just building it for dmg purpose only is not cost efficient
@@cngblade Okay thank you! I’m new to the stat building part of the game so it’s very appreciated
the game looks so 60fps 4K for you. I wish I could afford a better gpu to put everything in ultra video settings.
This video is such a nothing burger. People aren't sacrificing magic power for true damage. You cannot get true magic damage on mystic vestments, or rawhides. People stack true damage on TOP of magic power. Max health is also incredibly expensive because obviously it is a good roll, but it requires significant investment to actually pay off, since the amount of max hp you'd need to survive 1 extra melee hit is substantial.
at 80% magical power i can explosion + fireball and kill people with 120+ hp you wont do that with low magical power
1. You cast with staff
2. You assume you can hit direct fireball every time
Wizard hat and magical power is cheaper in general because : it sucks
They are not in competition but it’s not a stats you should prio, you look for max health instead.
🤨
@@cngblade
I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just saying I think the rationale is flawed.

Theory vs Reality is usually very very different
I am aiming for reliability.
Also building true dmg is wayy more than enough dmg a Wizard need.
Remember I played Wizard for more than 3k hours, I never looked at numbers, I am speaking from experience and testing.
I skipped it not missed it, not relevant to understand how magic power works. That’s why I chose lighting strike as the example, no limb, no multiple line flat 30 mag dmg
@@cngblade fair enough :P One of my buddies a while back told me he doesn’t think true magic is as good as I say it is and I thought about sending him this so he might better understand what I was talking about. Anyways, great video :P
Spellbook increases base damage...
I said for simplicity in the video as an example…. Blue spell book is 0.5 dmg difference…. Good job….
wizard psyop for making magic power cheaper. i see you
Question:
I usually run 50will, 50-60 knowledge and some vigor now since subbing to you. (gear score: +125)
What would you say are the stats you aim for when building a gear set?
130hp , 6 true , 70% cast speed
lol 60 knowledge is really dumb, you have extremely diminishing returns. 1 more knowledge at 50 is like
build both magical dmg and trues
What about magic missile? Base damage of 10 missiles is 110. So 110(.1*.75) = 118.25 so 8 damage per 10% is no joke!
You build 6 true dmg that’s 60x0.75 = 45 dmg flat
@@cngblade which is comparable to 50% mag dam bonus, 110 * (.5*.75) = 147.5 add both of those bonuses together and you can crutch magic missle
