im glad i could participate in splatoon 3's grandfest, i wasnt able to do the finalfest in splatoon 2 because of schoolwork. and even tho the team i chose (future) lost, im glad i could still have fun playing ^^
The reason why I picked team past to win is because I want to see the beginning of Splatoon how it started all! Seeing younger Cuttlefish and others we seen before or never seen before and I’m looking forward to seeing something like it. I wonder if Inkopolis plaza will be seen in the early years of Splatoon? I don’t know yet. 🙂
We won’t go back to the Past- Gameplay wise, that would mean 8 out of our 11 weapon classes will be gone (Dualies and Brella weren’t a thing until like a year or two before Splatoon 2, and I assume this is also the case with Stringers and Splatanas)
Definetly i agree with him i don’t think we are going to go to the samer arc of splatoon like the past 3 games. Nintendo said it on it’s direct. And the “past” will most likely affect the theme of the atmosphere and not literally take us to the past.
The most likely way Team Past winning would affect the next game might be it being set somewhere like Calamari County (where Cuttlefish and Callie and Marie came from)
I think people misunderstood the question being asked, it wasn’t which did you prefer, nor was it what kind of world would you want to live in. Those were the questions of Splatoon 1 & 2 respectively, Splatoon 3 asked which was most important to you. We aren’t going back in time, nor would we go into the future, it was always about introspection and personal belief. So in the next game we’re probably going to have a story and a world focused on nostalgia and a longing for a time long past, kinda similar to Octo Expansion, except instead of it just being 80’s focused, it will be nostalgia in general. The story mode won’t have anything to do with the New Squidbeak Splatoon, since according to interviews with the developers, this is the end for them and the characters we’ve come to know, at least in a major role. The story mode will be something new, something different but familiar, maybe focused more on the Octarians, or maybe something completely separate to the old guard entirely. I’d highly recommend reading or at least watching some videos on the interviews, Rassicas has made some excellent videos on it, and also translated all of the interviews into English since we don’t have official translations. We aren’t going back to the Great Turf War, that’s in the past, and that is where it will stay. We might be dealing with a second one, but if we are it won’t be the same type of war, times and technologies have changed dramatically in the past 100 years. Splatoon as a series is at its core, one focused not on major world events, but the effects said events have on the world, even so far into the future. I mean just take a look at how humanity has affected the world, how our actions still shape the world even in modern day. Let alone how the Great Turf War has effected the world for the worse as tensions and relations between races collapses, how the Salmonids continue to be treated by Inkling society. Speaking of the Salmonids, those 1.5 billion Golden Eggs we collected, have to play some role in the next game, we killed so many of their species, and stole so many of their young, something has to come of it. And the event was sponsored and pushed by the Grand Festival’s organizers, this was 100% known about by the Inklings in charge. Despite the laws in place against Inkling and Salmonids even being near each other. A law Neo Agent 3 flagrantly breaks daily might I add. Point is, there are a lot of ways this could go, but us literally going back in time was never an option. The series is all about growing and following us in modern times, it’s a mirror to our world, ever since 2014 the Inklings and their society have grown with us, from the 14 year olds in Splatoon 1, to the 21 year olds in Splatoon 3, just looking at the changes in their models over the years shows this growth. I wonder had people better understood what was being asked, would their choices have been different? Or would the outcome have remained the same regardless? It doesn’t really matter either way, what is done is done, but I do wonder.
Personally, I almost wish that the final fests didn't actually have any effect on the following game whatsoever, because instead of picking teams based on what is being asked, many players just choose what they want to see for the next game. It makes the results feel less honest imo and players are more so fighting each other for what they want for the next game rather than answering the question of the theme. I honestly questioned if the next game would genuinely be so heavily affected by this theme that the next game would be set during the Great Turf War or take place far enough in the future to give a futuristic setting or something. It even makes me wonder how different splatfest results would be in the future if the idol groups didn't split up to represent teams and just stayed unbiased in the event. There would be no picking a team based on which idol you like most, making players actually focus on the theme at hand. Not exactly asking for that, because having the idols represent a team is part of the fun, but I just wonder.

Team Future member and wannabe Team Order member (started playing after Splatpocalypse) Being my first experience with a finale of a Splatoon game, it was probably the most fun I've had with the series. It got me my first 333× encounter AND win, and the atmosphere was beyond beautiful. I started from S1, I love all the idols but the Sisters will always hold a special place in my heart and I also usually reminisce about my childhood and good old days as an adult.
Deep cuts portion really got to me. I feel like we didnt get to see them shine enough and to top it off they lost in their own game😭.
