I agree with a cold and frosty day, too much wet and old at the moment Mark. We must enjoy our allotments and growing spaces even in winter. Happy gardening, Terry.
Looks like we're going to be frozen over for the next few days but hoping once things start to thaw out the water drains away slowly and we don't end up with a flood. Will still be making my way to the plot to get on with any jobs the weather allows 👍🌱👍
Been down the allotment nearly every day since Christmas got so much done, instead of vegetating in front of the TV, surprised at how much I have done in just 2-3 hours a day totally ready for spring planting.
Sounds like just the job David, getting to the plot over Xmas. I’ve tried to get there quite a bit but the weather defeated me today. Hopefully get back there on Wednesday as back to work tomorrow. 👍🌱👍
Hi Mark, wow! An ice rink 😂 i would be very tempted to have a go 😂 love this time of year as you get chance to plan & do jobs that you dont have time to do in the busy summer months. Great video update. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
Love a bare bones tour it's great see plot structures and layouts. Good to see you in good spirit, mate!!!! I was going to say I hope he's got his skates ⛸️ with him. We had snow last night -1c by 8am today +11c and rain bonkers 🎉
Thanks 😊 Must admit I ventured out a little further onto the ice off camera but lost my bottle and eventually came back 🤣 Bit of snow here this morning but disappeared once the rain came. Down to -7c this week during the week but thankfully temps back up by the weekend 👍🌱👍
@marksallotmentplot hahaha I thought you may have had a go off cam, looking forward to your plot this year been watching for a while, but set my own little channel up more of a diary for me really but it's cool.
Thanks Ali! It was a bit of a slog getting there as everything slowed up over the last few moths of 2024 but great to see the numbers going up again 😊 With a bit of luck the ice and water will be away by the weekend or things are going to be looking a little damp on the plot 🤣
I really like the way you incorporate the drone footage into your plot tour, it gives a nice visual of how everything is laid out. My site doesn't have an ice rink sadly, but we did gain a few new ponds overnight 😂
It's a good job that "ice rink" isn't your plot. Mark 😮 We've got snow here in South Yorkshire. It snowed all last night and this morning. About 3/4 inches and deeper in the drifts. Despite it turning to rain, it's still here. I do love how bright everything is at night when snow is on the ground. Hope you've had a great Christmas and New Year. All the best 😊
Think we've been pretty lucky with the weather here over the last week. Temps are low all week but go up by the weekend. Hoping as the ice rink thaws the water slowly drains away and doesn't flood. I've seen some of the pictures on the news and can't believe how much snow and flooding other parts of the UK have had. I'm deffo ready for Spring now and some warmer weather.👍🌱👍
Yes, I think 2025 is going to be much more of a settled year with the weather. I'm looking forward to trying the things that failed again. It's now Tuesday 7th, and snow is still here along with black ice! I don't have an allotment. My polytunnel and greenhouse are in my own garden, but it's too treacherous out there. Luckily, there's nothing that needs immediate attention. Roll on April 😂😂😂
I'm desperate to get the onions in the greenhouse or polytunnel as they'll start to go leggy indoors. Hoping this really cold spell disappears soon and I can get them moved. Loads of time left yet to get some on the go 😊 Must admit I was up at the plot yesterday and ventured out a little further onto the ice. Lost my bottle again though and ran back 🤣🤣🤣
Ahhh now that's a great idea! The new plants are destined for the new bed that's coming but I might move some of the older ones out the old bed or some runners from the new plants one they appear 👍🌱👍
Where did you get your polytunnel from ? And what size is it? I would love one but I will have to check the price ( maybe out of my price range at the moment) as I have just invested in a fruit cage 5mx2.5m, the plan is to absolutely fill it with strawberry plants (I have around 350 plants/bare roots, and want more! Ha! I hope they all grow!) so any videos on your strawberries would be amazing as I am new (April 2024) to allotments gardening, well actually any veg/fruit growing to be honest, and watching all your videos and other people videos have helped me alot , as I am a total novice. I have learnt so much already. Im looking forward to your next video!
The tunnel came from First Tunnels. It’s 10’ x 12’ but wish I’d gone a bit bigger. Everyone always says to get bigger than you think and it’s absolutely true🙂 The ones form First Tunnels are a wee bit expensive but definitely worth it. Mine has stood up to all the terrible weather that’s been thrown at it over the past few years. Wow! 350 strawberry plants is a lot! Good idea to put them in a fruit cage though. Think some sort of cage (fruit or brassica) will be on my shopping list shortly. Hopefully some strawberry vids coming soon once the new bed for them has been delivered 👍🌱👍🍓
Yup, did them a couple of years ago after getting a pack of them in a deal with some garlic form DT Brown. They were smashing. Don't think I had too many problems with them bolting. As they're planted so early in the year you can harvest them earlier to avoid most of the really hot weather 👍🌱👍
Will have to take my skates the next time I'm there 😂 Looking at the forecast things will stay frozen most of this week till the weekend. With a bit of luck at it thaws most of the water will slowly drain away avoiding any flooding 👍🌱👍
The weather has been a bit nuts the last few weeks. From warm over Xmas to rain and snow. Now we've got a bit freeze till the weekend. Challenging times ahead for growing in 2025! 👍🌱👍
@ it made us chuckle when in the itv main news , the broadcaster was at a local gritters but 2 miles from me waxing lyrical to the nation about the potential snow fall in the midlands … then it rained all night… needless to say the kids were very excited by the news then sad the next day when we had puddles not snowman weather 🙄

Looks like you’re in for a great growing year Mark 😊
Thanks.
Hoping once the big freeze is over I can get back in and about things getting jobs done 👍🌱👍
Stunning scenery! (The plot's looking good as well!) Can't wait to see your bulbs flowering, I've got a few appearing already🌷🌷
Quality content as always. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks John 👍🌱👍
It will be snow, sleet, rain here(south of Sweden) tomorrow, Monday. 🥶 Further north, worse.🥶🌨❄🥌
Great to see your allotment plans.🌱

I woke up this morning to loads of snow covering everything! Its freezing!
Great video, I like the plot tours!
Thanks 🙂
We had a little bit of snow this morning but it quickly disappeared when it rained.
Roll on the spring! 👍🌱👍
Congratulations on 6k + Mark what a great way to start the year. Hope the land dries out a bit 🤞. Have a fab week, Ali ☔️🥶🇨🇦

Thanks Luc 👍🌱👍
Steaming ahead with the onions there, I'm yet to sow any.
Almost thought you may still break out the skates at the end there.😂

You could put the strawberries with the asparagus and that would give you another bed to grow vegetables in
Ahhh now that's a great idea!
The new plants are destined for the new bed that's coming but I might move some of the older ones out the old bed or some runners from the new plants one they appear 👍🌱👍
Great tour Mark! Is it me or is that ditch getting bigger? Would you move if another plot came up? Congrats on 6k btw!

Hey Mark. Have you ever grown Senshyu onions from sets? I am thinking of doing so this year, and wondered if you had had any success using sets? Haydn
Yup, did them a couple of years ago after getting a pack of them in a deal with some garlic form DT Brown.
They were smashing. Don't think I had too many problems with them bolting. As they're planted so early in the year you can harvest them earlier to avoid most of the really hot weather 👍🌱👍
Excellent, an ice rink.....not LOL. Yikes you've had some water.
Will have to take my skates the next time I'm there 😂

Did you see any slugs?😁
Thankfully not 😂
🤣🤣🤣 Talking about putting in a wildlife pond in your allotment - so the one behind you isn't good enough? 🤣🤣🤣
Hahahahaha good point!
I'm hoping all that ice/water will be gone by the weekend otherwise its going to be a bit damp on the plot 🤣🤣🤣
We’re just flooding everywhere 🙄
The weather has been a bit nuts the last few weeks. From warm over Xmas to rain and snow. Now we've got a bit freeze till the weekend.
